    Chen Weixing pushes a little faster almost as if he was hitting the ball with a flat racket rather than an open racket.

    Chens wrist is just so overpowered, smashing returns back with just a slight movement of his wrist, even from different angles

    We used to call it a chop serve back the day. Friendship and Butterfly rubbers did the trick.

    I like when he falls down in frustration. That's how I feel every time I play a 60 yr. old man who slams my serve past me every time.

    I like the question about rubber type. I have seen similar shot done with spinny rubber and long pimples. I suspect it would be effective with short pimples. This shot can have variations like the banana flick and sidespin chop. By my experience it (or something similar) can be done with Friendship or Tackiness chop.

    yeah the backhand is a junk rubber, long pips because if you watch the ball is reversed each time. 3:21 the underspin serve is pushed to give topspin back and then its looped to be chopped where the server pops the next ball in the air for the winning backhand flick. so this little sideswipe serve return is only useful with backhand pips, which chen weixing is obviously famous for using

      It legal rubber. Pips were the original norm for tt wayvbefore the highly sprung sponge rubbers of today..

    • @idlewolf7196
      @idlewolf7196 Před 8 lety

      +Soomi Max Yup, even with pips in rubbers, only that you need to take top/back into consideration with them.
      So, either you push it or block it sideways with pips in, or you just block it sideways from behind the ball at its highest point in the bounce with pips out.

    The server has a hugely illegal action by throwing the ball backwards in the service motion. Obviously an amateur who has never played competition.
