    The way you explain, put into context with a sentence or example, then repeat several times and finish with the spoken word and sign have made this 10000000 times easier for me to learn online. I have used basic sign for infant communication for 12+ years but in 2 days have more than doubled the amount of signs I know and now use regularly. Keep posting, keep sharing, and your page will grow! I’m sure of it! My ADHD brain is so relieved having found this page! Thank you so so so much!

    Thank you for the amazing videos; I've just started learning ASL and have found your videos are very easy to understand. You state the word and present the sign clearly so it is easy to follow. I appreciate that you do a few repetitions so I can try it and then you move on.
    Some people videos go on and on until you want to skip forward, which inevitably gets you lost in the middle of the next section. I find I can follow along in your videos and then replay a couple of times and I've got it down. If I need a few more tries on just one sign your videos make it easy to jump right to the section I would like to re-watch.
    I have one question about the sign for "help". You show how to make the sign by placing your dominant hand in a thumbs up on your other palm and then bring them both up. Next you say if when "help" used directionally you have the thumbs-up-on-palm and bring it towards yourself or towards the direction of the task/area with which you need help. My question is, when using "help" directionally, do you bring your hands straight towards yourself or do you bring them up and in towards yourself/up and in at a diagonal? Basically, do you still bring the hands Up?
    Sorry for what I'm sure is a very rudimentary question and thank you again for your videos. I'm hoping to get familiarized with some basic ASL signs before taking a course in the spring and your content is great.

    • @ASLLOVE
      @ASLLOVE  Před rokem +1

      That is a great question and thank you for watching! I can see how when it is signed repeatedly, it may appear to have a slight upward/diagonal movement to it. That is not necessary. Straight back towards yourself, or the person/task that you are referring to is correct. If you do happen to sign it with a slight diagonal or upward movement , the meaning will not change so don’t worry about that too much (but of course I understand that you want to sign it correctly). It’s a learning curve and I’m happy to know that my videos are working for you.

    I have tiny bites and pieces of sign language. I was trying to help an employee at a store with a customer that started to yell at him because he thought he was being ignored. Long story short I used the wrong sign for deaf… I signed using a letter d going from my ear to chin, but later remember it was just supposed to be my index finger…. Did I say something offensive?

    • @ASLLOVE
      @ASLLOVE  Před rokem +1

      This is a great question. In my opinion, I see no reason why you wouldn't have been understood. What you did is very similar to how it should be signed. The sign is taught using your index finger, but if you relax your hand in any way I think it looks like the letter "D." Maybe your dominant hand was completely on your cheek? You may have had the placement a little high, but still, nothing offensive that I'm aware of.
