I kept the design of the shades dead simple so I could spend most of my time focusing on the details of construction. I also tested every step of the process individually before starting on the lamps themselves. If any detail wasn't going to work out, I wanted the flexibility to adapt the whole design if needed. I'll post separately about this "R&D" phase of the design. The gist of it is to make some PVC hoops with a central disk on one of them. Then glue two sheets of paper around the border and attach to a pendant light fixture. Easy peasy!

Thanks for this every other video is literally NOT making the shade but repairing or replacing the material in a shade vs CREATING a shade. This is what i needed

I have been browsing through the eons of diy lampshade videos on the internet, I watched multiple women showing how to put stuff on perfectly good lampshades, thousands of words spoken but not one showing how to actually make a normal lampshade and then I reached it.
The last page of the internet, a sole man making a lampshade in his garage, no words spoken, the lampshade was done.
    I applaud you good sir.

One of the better ideas I have seen.I would cover my shade with linen fabric like the ones on the Restoration Hardware catalog which sell for big bucks.

It would be EXTREMELY MORE USEFUL IF YOU COULD PLEASE LIST YOUR ITEMS In CORRECT EXACT SIZE/NAME /AND TYPE OF PVC, WIRE GAUGE AND TIPS HOW YOU DID THE DRILL -WOUND WIRE TRICK -ALSO THE MATERIAL YOU USED FOR THE SHADE- just saying it was paper is useless information as it would have to be extremely opaque, strong and rigid - giving us links or exact store referrals is what we need to know in order to copy you/ your ideas and intuitive way you used the items is great but please do a new video with better precise directions and items- just think how many MORE VIEWS YOU WOULD GET!
