My friends are happy how you can do everything on Linux whatever you want. I love these type of customisation and it works on latest version of GNOME 46. I installed some extension without your video for best
OMG !!!!!! first the first time my linux looks amazing. Thank you
Genius! Simply the best video about customization for Gnome! This reminded me why I fell in love with Linux back on 2004. I thought Compiz and the Cube along with the Burn my Windows effects were gone for good, I'm glad you can still use them on 2024. I ditched Windows 11 a few minutes ago and installed Fedora 40 which is one of my favorite Distros. I'm having so much fun going through these settings.
I cannot thank you enough sir! Please keep up the good work with these videos!
I can feel your happiness, glad you found this video.

Great video! I love it 💓💓

One of the best videos, because every time I install linux but ended up returning to windows because no one explained it better

Glad to hear you liked it. ❣️
After seeing several gnome customization videos, this is the best one ever
I'm glad you found a GNOME Customization video that you really liked!
I tried to change the fonts in tweaks, but it is not changing in tweaks. I am using GNOME 46 DE on OpenSuse Tumbleweed. Any solution?
Hello how I can get the same volume control and settings interface in xfce?
I tried this and the only thing that seemed to change was the color of my terminal? I also tried one that is supposed to entirely overhaul the look of the desktop environment - WhiteSur - But nothing happened? I am using Ubuntu, but am I missing something? Do I need to install something else beforehand to make these themes work?
compiz wobbly is back! :3
Thanks you very much
Thank you very much❤
You're welcome 😊
Is there a way to change individual icons on the dock without using a theme?
Hi, im considering switching to mint...Does anyone have recommendations or tips? Also i would like to know: What is the performance impact when applying such customizations/animations?

Hi, thanks for the video, I have a problem: The option to customize shell doesn't appear at all. In appearence/styles I only got cursor, icons and legacy apps
May I know your Gnome version?
What if, i upgraded from Ubuntu 22.04 to 24.04, all customization will be back to default?
Super cool video. I am pretty new to linux and installed a Debian OS for the first time, and it's now my main system. Thus, your video came out right in time. How do you get the minimal spaces indicator in the top left corner?
It seems like you're using a GNOME 44-based distro. That minimal spaces indicator comes by default in GNOME 45.
@@NHSoft Okay, thanks for your quick reply. Then I should consider upgrading 🙂
@@PicSta Yeah!!! you can consider trying Fedora Workstation or 'Ubuntu 23.10' for experiencing GNOME 45.
@@NHSoftThanks for your recommandation. Your advice lead to my own result on a research getting debian 12 with gnome 45. Don't want to get unstable packages, so Fedora Workstation will be my choice. Ubuntu is not my thing. Would you recommend Fedora with Gnome as a main system? Thanks in advance.
@@PicSta You can try different distros to find the best fit for your need. In some cases, Debian offers more stable software and greater availability compared to Fedora. Personally, I am using Fedora but switch distros occasionally.

Theme doesn't work on applications in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. As a newb I am trying to make things work by reading articles many places. Still can't find any workaround. Can you please help and advice?
Thanks for your comment. Since Ubuntu 24.04 LTS is very new, most available articles are based on older versions of GNOME. It might take some time for updated instructions to be published. For Orchis Theme, you can find the instructions on its GitHub page: github.com/vinceliuice/Orchis-theme. It works on GNOME 45, but I'm not sure about GNOME 46!
@@NHSoft Thank you. I will look into it and update about it here>

Thanks a lot very informative. My questions are :
1. How to have the minimize maximise icons on fedora gnome ?
2. How to have the fedora logo while opening the terminal ?
Thanks for your response 😄
To enable maximize and minimize buttons, open the Tweaks software and then click on the "Windows" option. Here you will find the option to enable those buttons.
And I have no idea how to enable fedora logo while opening the terminal.
@@NHSoft thanks a lot !

Love you bhai. Aap bahut acche ho😊
Thankyou Bhai 😊
This is a very good video. I liked it. Really enjoyed to see it. But... but... let's talk about real work. How can I split view in Nautilus like "F3"?? there is no option to do it and save time... I must open another windows and split it in half on the monitor...There is any extension that can do it on Gnome? Where is another option like in Dolphin when i can get more space between the letters under the icons? I mean, my language is portuguese and when there is long words the letters do not accompany the desired space between the icons getting cut to the next line. Yes... i can change icons size. To the point getting so big that letters do not appears broked in 2 lines. But that way is very disproportional to the normal size view... And talking about apps, i Wish there is anything like Okular, where i can highligth and studying things in a more efficient way and not so limitizing thing like in GNOME. There is any way i can get a similar Okular app" in GNOME but avoiding the system becoming so bloated?... And ... when one gets lots of extensions and another version gnome of Fedora appears chances are that extensions will break the system. Why don´t developers of Gnome just take that extensions and turn them native to Gnome? There is so good extensions indeed. So why Gnome doesnt take them by default? 🤔
Thank you for your feedback and kind words about the video! I understand your concern...
You can also install Dolphin File Explorer in GNOME, which can be downloaded from the software center or using the terminal:
For (Debian/Ubuntu), run:
sudo apt-get install dolphin
For Fedora, use:
sudo dnf install dolphin
Similarly, you can install Okular using:
sudo apt install okular
Yes, you will have two similar apps (bloatwares) for the same functionality like Nautilus and Dolphin. However, uninstalling system apps like the file explorer is not recommended, and it also won't free up much space, so there's no need to worry about it.
9:21 what bro was going to type)
Sudo : dnf : command not found
Also there is no software app in my system. What to do 😢
Which Linux distro?
*Sudo dnf....* Command is only for red hat / fedora users. If you are using Ubuntu try *sudo apt install "software-name"*
I have 2 questions to Gnome: 1) how to move time and date to the right? 2) how to make top bar and dock autohide?
You can use the "Top Bar Organizer" extension to change the clock position to center or right. The dock will hide automatically if you haven't changed any of its settings. And, the "Just Perfection" extension may work for hiding the top bar.
@@NHSoft I have managed to shift clock to the right with "Sur Clock" extension, but I was not lucky to autohide top bar. The closest I got with "Hide Top Bar" extension but it interferes with Dock and random flickering occurs.
how do you manage to change gnome files theme?
Download Orchis theme from GitHub,
github.com/vinceliuice/Orchis-theme
then run:
./install.sh -l command
i love poppins too
cursors work well everywhere but Chrome, why?

Can we change theme on Manjaro Gnome
Yes
has Gnome stopped braking extensions w/ every update yet??????
It's still an ongoing issue. Some extensions might not work until developers update them to be compatible with the newer versions.
@@NHSoft it is a good looking UI, but i stay away from it for exactly that reason.
Wasn't aware how complicated it is to install themes or change settings in some distros, currently using Mint (click & done). The main Gnome obstacle IMHO nowadays is the lack of a clever, time saving, menu by default instead of throwing icons on the desktop with endless scrolling or even typing. Would be interested in a further Gnome video about menus and most efficient desktop theme & settings saving desktop space for applications but still having time, date and status icons on (auto hide is not that smart).
Try the Arc Menu extension; you may find it helpful. Here's a demonstration of how it works: czcams.com/video/AllSHTrR6ro/video.htmlsi=TjRrfOD6mFTUNGGy&t=9m17s

its possible to add this to windows 11 pc?
This is Gnome specific video, but for Windows, check out Rainmeter for widgets and PowerToys like softwares for more features! 😊
