So…any monster you summon to fight on your behalf would be an _echo fighter_
I love how it "echos" tears of the kingdoms opening sequence.
Wxactly! Zelda falls into the void in TOTK, and now Link fell in the chasm and Zelda has to save him!
Rauru mentions that what zelda did was somehow an echo from her sheer will after you receive recall. They foreshadowed her echo power
Speed Run Echoes of Wisdom by making 100 beds in a row straight to Ganons castle
There seems to be a limit on the number of generated echoes, look for the tokens which the fairy gives.
38 years and they finally made Zelda the main protag in an official release.
About time.
The Wand of Gamelon is strictly speaking an official release although everyone at Nintendo probably wish it wasn't.
And the game title makes sense for once.
Yeah but they made zelda a girl
Admittedly, this wasn't what I was expecting but I welcome this nonetheless. I'm gonna have fun with this one
Few things I noticed in various rewatches:
-Death Mountain is in NW Hyrule. The only other games it or its analogue have been in the NW is in Zelda 1 and the Four Swords trilogy (it’s Center-NW in FSA). All other times it’s either Center (South-Center for AoL) or NE on mainland Hyrule.
-This is the first game we have two different Zora species interacting with each other: the River Zora from Zelda 1, ALttP, LA, OoS/OoA, and ALBW; and another one that looks like a mix between the Zora from OoT, MM, OoA WW (picture/spirit only) and the most recent Zora from BotW/TotK (RIP TP Zora). The closest we got to such a meeting was in OoA where one of the OoT Zora in an underwater village SW says “Don’t mistake us with those uncultured River Zora!” or something like that. ALBW also establishes a hierarchy for the River Zora, but most of them as the Queen and her retainers acknowledge don’t seem to respect it and do their own thing, so seeing the two groups meet up for the first time is groundbreaking.
-Tri’s little triangles are your resource for making echoes. You can get more of them as you start off with three yet there are chips where Tri has and uses four of them. Each echo has a cost associated with it. Objects, the bird, the Trap echo use one. Moblins, Skulltulas (or whatever the spiders are supposed to be), the fire snake equivalent, and that one angler fish take two. ReDeads, Deku Babas, and the Deku Scrub/Peahat looking thing require three. It looks like you can summon echoes beyond the cap, but it likely makes previous echoes disappear in the order in which they were made as indicated in the Gerudo Town clip when the first bed began flashing.
Playable Zelda is something we’ve wanted for so long, I can’t wait for this game
I am so excited to finally play a game as Zelda herself! And the new mechanics look great, adopting aspects of Breath of the Wild and the Oracle games!
i love that those games all have the same director, including Skyward Sword & Tears of the Kingdom
Raise your hand if you had a playable Zelda on an actual 2D Zelda game post TotK that revolves around puzzle platforming in your bingo card
If you did give me the next Lottery winning number please
I had a new 2D Zelda game... but not that we would play as Zelda. Although this isn't BOTW/TOTK Link and Zelda. Sure Link has the hood and a Zonai looking bow, but Zelda is completly different. I dunno if that is what you meant by "post TOTK", but thought I would point it out.
@@TheZebbga post TotK, just the next big Zelda game, felt like Nintendo wouldn't make a new 2D Zelda game after seeing the numbers 3D Zelda games make
@@JustJulyo Right I get what you mean. Although any new 2D Zelda would be post TOTK. That is why I was confused.
@@TheZebbga I just wasn't expecting any new 2D Zelda games for the Switch at this point
@@JustJulyo Not this late. I half expected it, I put it as a prediction under "Oracle Remakes or New 2D Zelda" but I never in a million years expected to play as Zelda.
Considering we got Metroid Prime 4, the remake of Dragon Quest 3, a new Mario and Luigi, and the Ace Attorney Collections, I am 100% okay with them doing something a bit more experimental with the new top-down LOZ game.
*Dragon Quest
@@dragoon1090 LOL yes, my fingers move faster than my brain.
Woah a Zelda game where you play as the princess instead of Zelda?!
All I have to say is that title sounds like a lost sequel to "wand of gamelon" and "faces of evil"
So Happy to se a traditional Zelda realm with a Castle, death Mountain and forests..i Thought they had forgotten...🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
It might be a traditional realm, but summoning beds to make stairs makes me cringe at what the gameplay and puzzles will be like...
ToTK you quite literally just cheesed every shrine puzzle.. it was boring and redundant.
Now it looks like we get that same boring puzzle design for this one too..
@@MasterRoshi69I mean... probably. But it's still gonna be fun seeing how speedrunners break this one over their knees.
@@MasterRoshi69 who cheesed every puzzle? I sure didn't
??? The last new game not to have all three of those things was Triforce Heroes in 2015.
Finally the Pokémon×Zelda crossover I've been wanting for years lol.
Toon Zelda, playable in Smash. Imagine!
I've been begging for a playable Zelda game for YEARS. Finally, girl gamers.
Same here, this is great!!
Does... does Cadence of Hyrule not count?
The Legend of Link 😅🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
My 8 year old says "it should be the Legend of Link" 😂
Too pure
These reactions are so hilariously chaotic
At first, when I saw that Zelda was going to use something that summoned stuff she can throw at enemies or outright summon monsters to fight for her, I reacted a bit negatively to it, like it almost comes off like "oh, Zelda can't actually fight directly with a sword or anything, she IS a girl after all". But the more I thought about it, the more I warmed up to the idea. It does tie into Zelda representing the Triforce of Wisdom and needing to be strategic with how she deals with enemies, not to mention, it would be pretty lackluster for Zelda to finally be playable in a mainline Legend of Zelda game only for it to play like any other Zelda game, like she'd be little more than a palette swap of Link. The Tri Rod in particular has a LOT of potential to do some crazy things, I'm looking forward to messing around with it when I finally get this game!
I'm guessing it takes place either some point before ocarina before the war or in the downfall timeline near a link to the past. I kinda doubt before ocarina because zelda probably has the triforce of wisdom based on the wand and the title. I also doubt the branch off ss with botw & totk because where would it fit with the imprisoning war and that stuff. plus death mountain is in the wrong place lol. So my guess is probably downfall
Im glad they made Zelda play differently rather than just make her a reskin of Link
I think it would have been funny if it was called "Legend of Link" but maybe that is *too* jokey for an actual game lol
Then it would be a spin-off , instead it's a zelda game where you play as zelda
I think this is Nintendo's take on minecraft mechanics such as summoning materials/ in-world elements
Let’s go!
First Zelda game to have Zelda as the main protagonist since Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon on the CD-i...
I hope Zelda gets an amiibo with the game
Nice to Zelda finally get a (probably) good Zelda game.
We finally got a Zelda game where Zelda is playable!
Me gonna get copies for friends and family so they know it's a good game, me asume
I hope that Sheik is in this game.
Zelda is a magical girl confirmed! Triforce Power Make-Up!
i want you guys reaction to dragon quest 3 hd 2d remake
I will be purchasing this day one, I am so glad that they finally let us play as Zelda! I do have to admit though as much as I hope I will like Zelda's unique control and style it kind of smacks of "we can't let the princess fight or use a sword.." 😠
Normally I'd say yeah, but this makes sense, a more Magical, tactical approach for the holder of the Triforce of Wisdom. Theres Triforce Warriors and Age of Calamity. They have no problem with making Zelda fight hordes of enemies so im glad they gave us something new!
Will Zelda talk? She usually talks. Will Link finally talk?
It's nice to see GVG reactions that aren't needlessly negative for once lol, good Nintendo direct
It's usually Steve that kills the mood.
Just when i wanted a traditional style Zelda game that is new, Nintendo find a way to flip that on it's head, i personally don't like the look of this one but the art style is still amazing
Why does everyone call the top down view 2d? Can you not tell that these are all 3d models with a full range of movement?
It's a 2D zelda, look them up 😊
While I'm happy that Zelda finally have her own game that's not the Philips CD-i one, I must say that I'm kinda worried with the direction of the Zelda series. BoTW and ToTK are excellent games and sold way better than any other title in the series, that's really amazing, but, there's no way for us to have a traditional Zelda game again? Just the simple but exciting fun of playing a good and clever action game/RPG with creative puzzles and a good story without it need to be this open world/sand box type of game where you can "solve puzzles any way you want" and have tons of itens to use? I see the appeal in that type of game and I really enjoy BoTW and ToTK but I miss the classic Zelda. I miss opening a Treasure chest in a dungeon wondering what type of fun item I would discover... Maybe this game won't be like ToTK and will be more of the classic Zelda, but it sure didn't look like it by this trailer.
I may be overreacting, but I never thought even the classic top down view Zelda would start to look like BoTW and ToTK.
Recall that an overwhelming amount of the Zelda fanbase were upset that the normal formula was feeling stale and overused by the time we got to Twilight Princess. So Nintendo changed the formula and made BOTW, breaking sales records while still feeling much like a Zelda game with lots of innovations. Now after BOTW and TOTK, the fanbase is complaining that they want the old style and standard dungeons back? You can't have both. Zelda fans never satisfied lol
@@ItsATMDrums I never complained about the Zelda formula, so I don't think I represent the fanbase in your statement. However, I'm sure I'm not the only one who liked how Zelda was before Breath of the Wild, even though I enjoy BoTW and Tears of the Kingdom a lot. The last Zelda game with a more traditional formula was released almost 13 years ago, so it's only natural that we start to miss it a little. Not everything was bad in that formula; perhaps people were a bit tired of it, but that doesn't mean it should have ceased to exist. There's a reason why Ocarina of Time is still the highest-rated game in the series on Metacritic, and I think that's because people really enjoyed that type of game. Take 2D Mario and 3D Mario, for example: both are excellent, but they are different enough to have fans who love both. So, just like the Mario series, I don't see why we can't have both types of Zelda games. Nintendo could continue creating big games like BoTW, which have long development times, and also more traditional Zelda games with shorter development times. There's nothing wrong with that. I really enjoy both types of Zelda games, the traditional and BoTW styles, and seeing that even the traditional 2D top-down view games are starting to become like BoTW worries me that the other type of Zelda won't ever come back, that's all.
I really wanted the rumored fire emblem 4 remake
I'll take this tho
I'm worried about this one, from the trailer, but I really hope I end up enjoying it.. and that they don't use this art style for any Oracle remakes they do end up doing
This looks absolutely amazing. The only thing I hope they do is add the option to disable that sickening blur at the top and bottom of the screen that they had in Link's Awakening. It looks awful and has no business being there.
Huh, I really love it. This game gives me 3D DOT HEROES vibes.
zelda is so girlboss
This incarnation definetly beats the Spirit Tracks one.
Girlboss?
You mean be an @$$hole, sh!+ on the main character, unbelievably throw enemies thrice her size and doesnt need any character development throughout the story?
Nope.
Zelda isnt a Hollywood character, but a cool female protagonist.
They should have call it the Legend of Link
Aonuma was like: you thought 2d zelda would stay linear? I'm Aonumaing the heck out of it and to shut everybody up I will make Zelda playable. I dare you say you don't like it *muhahaha with thunder sounds on the back*
ALBW was nonlinear
@@noahsabadish3812not in the same way. There's a difference between "tackle these 3 dungeons in whatever order you want" and "Just spam the box to overcome every puzzle". As fun as it was in ToTK I never want to see "Ultrahand" type abilities ever returning to Zelda. It was a cool gimmick, but fundamentally made Zelda a completely different style of game that I'm just not interested in. I'm still cautiously optimistic that there will be more items and actual combat in this game but if there's not I will be incredibly disappointed that the first new 2D zelda game in 11 years (20 years if you don't count ALBW or four swords) is a 2D ToTK.
@@noahsabadish3812 Even more than Zelda 1. And that is the reason i don't like it, ALTTP is my go to 2D game, always has been.
that's weird, Aonuma spoke for less than a minute and a half there...
it's just as if someone told him to...
please wrap it up
This looks fun enough but I still want a normal Zelda game. Why does everything need to break conventions?
Because stagnation is a sign of decline or something like that.
I dunno, I guess Nintendo is too afraid of having a New Super Mario Bros episode again where the games were fine, but were far too similar so people simply held off on buying them until they were bargain bin grabs.
You’ve gotten a normal Zelda game before, though?
@@jaybeans981 It's been 11 years.
@@cccadenFunny, Link's Awakening remake didn't come out in 2013... so really, 5 years.
@@shelbyherring92 That's a remake of a game I already played, so no, it's been 11 years.
Oof... I forgot how awful the NoA voice-overs are. Why do people even watch their version when NoE's version exists?
i missed this kinda zelda so much hated botw and totk but this screams good zelda also the music hmhmhmhmh
CANT W8
Ugh, this honestly looks bad in my opinion. Stop shoving building/crafting mechanics into Zelda games. Zelda used to be my favorite series but now it seems like they've transformed the series into something that appeals more to the Minecraft crowd.
Exactly. I was hoping that at least 2d Zelda games would continue the legacy of the more traditional gameplay, think I was wrong 😢
Skill issue. Looks fun af, mald, cope, seethe
@@Avajsb-rv7gw It's not a skill issue. It's not that I find crafting too hard, it's that I find it boring as hell. The last thing I want to do in a Zelda game is build furniture. If I wanted that I'd play Minecraft, or Animal Crossing, etc.
I see where you're coming from but this is more like puzzle solving. Were not minecrafting, we are using a hell of a bunch of tools to traverse the world. You dont need wood to make tables or materials for creating a cannon. Theres no survival elements. Please keep an open mind.
They went woke
... what?
Because you play as a girl?
Nintendo Community is not stupid and liberal for you're woke propaganda.
Theyre making a joke. Or they thought they were, I hope.
