Thanks for the video! I just got finished cutting & modifying my media cubby hole on my 2022 Street Glide Special. Just want to let folks know that it does work, although I had to do a bit more work to get my new iPhone 13 Pro Max with Apple leather case to fit. Additional things I had to do was cut the cubby rubber/foam insert a bit shorter. I also had to pull loose the rubber grommet that the Harley USB cable feeds through. There was a lip on the inside edge of that grommet that stuck in far enough that I couldn't get the iPhone with case to fit far enough in to get the compartment door closed. I've seen other videos where people pulled this loose to re-route the Harley USB cable, so I figured it was safe to do. I did tape it back into place once I tested that my iPhone with case would fit and the door closed. TIP: When using your Dremel to cut that plastic away, be careful of the wires around that area. I was trying to be very careful, but I ended up nicking a wire a tad, and had to patch it with electrical tape. It was just a tiny nick - could have been a lot worse. Lol! Just be careful when cutting.
Worked great for me and my 2021 Limited! I filed off the edges in the opening I cut so that it is a cleaner look ( that’s my OCD kicking in) but really…, who’s ever going to see it anyway. Great idea!!
They want you to buy a phone handlebar mount. I hate that look of the phone on handlebars personally. I bought a 6 foot lightning cable and routed it under the gas tank and keep my phone in the right saddlebag on my Streetglide CVO..
For anyone watching this, while this is an interesting solution (I ran across this video looking for a solution myself) you can save yourself the heartache of cutting into your very expensive bike and just buy a Wireless Android Auto Car Adapter that plugs into the USB port. That's for Android Auto...dunno about i-junk :D
I think the issue isn’t necessarily connectivity to the android auto/apple car play but rather storing the phone into the compartment that it was meant for. Although it is tricky connecting it to auto/CarPlay when it’s not in there haha.
I use the Motorola M1-A wireless adaptor for Android Auto and keep my phone in the saddlebag. I set up a cord from the battery to the saddlebag so there's a charging system that's always on. This way I can charge up my portable air compressor and anything else when needed. I think I'm going to relocate the wireless adaptor to inside the fairing by just pulling out the grommet instead of cutting a hole in the cubby.
My iPhone 11Pro fits perfectly in my 2020 street glide. I just flip my phone around and insert the lightning port end first. Door closes no problem. Why hack up the bike? (Unless your phone is too big to begin with)
Hey Danny , Great Video . I've got same bike on order ( waiting still because of 2 week HD shutdown ) Could you give me link of where you got your saddle bag guards . Asked HD dealer and they told me that HD does not make them . Thanks
Does this work with a 2019 Street Glide bc my S21Ultra sticks out alot and I purchased off someone and there was no "hotdogs bun" is that a newer model accessory?
U might have to get a Bluetooth adapter that connects to ur USB. I'm assuming ur HD doesn't support android auto or Apple car play(whatever it's called, android user here). If u had that u cud easily use Spotify off ur phone. Good luck.

PS - My hole looks a lot more raggedy than yours in the video! 😂 But, no one is going to see it.

Thanks I just bought the 2022 street glide st. And was trying to figure out what do !!!
Now your joints will fall into the faring.
That’s awesome. HD should have made it this way from the factory.
I’ve been thinking about trying this. Glad to see it works. I also want to glue a magnet inside the door then try if the Freakmount will stick.
I’ll be checking this out as soon as I get back home
Outstanding!! You are a genius 👏 Definitely the first one to show how. Why Harley does not change the mold for this?

It's a 2 prong fix to the problem of storage and charging the phone. I think it is great 👍 😀

I just did this on my 2020 SG. My pixel 6 now fits...close but it does fit.
Do you have a case on your pixel?
@@woberttodd yes I do have one. Have to cut the foam so the slot is wider.
Nice Harley!🔥🔥🔥
Fantastic, love your idea.😮
I’m finally fed up with mine coming open while riding. I didn’t think about cutting into that piece but I might do it soon
you should have shown us how it looks with the phone inside so we see what's exposed and how that makes it able to fit?
Nice and smart, thanks for sharing!

Amazon or eBay is where I got them very cheap to
I like the concept, but it looks like a mouse chewed a hole in there.
I agree but you will never see it.

My 17 has it
Dude, just cut an inch off your phone, much easier, dont have to take the fairing off
What is that phone cradle in your media compartment?
That comes with the bike, we call it the hotdog bun.
Does anyone know how I can play Spotify through my 2016 street glide USB port?

Thank you
The best way to fix the issue is to get a 22 Road Glide Special.
