Local elections don't directly translate to general elections, Cooper warns

- Shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper says the results of the local elections so far indicate the country is "desperate for change".
But she notes that they don't "translate completely" to general elections.
Ms Cooper says the party will continue to work for "every single vote".

The local elections have ALWAYS given a good insight into public opinion of the ruling party.
