We "cut the fluff" too! Please do a video all about "paper clutter" and organization! I'm in trouble when the year ends - so much paper. Ha. Right now it's all in a binder. Also what do you do with old curriculums?

  • @jerilyn-ourhomeschooltable

Couldn't agree more with "cut the fluff!" The struggle is real. 😊

Excellent video! I already do most of these. Especially with not following a schedule. I've decided today that the morning routine I do is not working. The "fluff" stuff! She is totally bored. She's in kindergarten but we'll advanced. I know when I taught in public schools, the ritual morning activities were so boring for me and for my children. I'm glad that you brought this up. It's makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one that feels this way. She was really bored and frustrated today.

Yes! Prepping everything ahead of time helps SO MUCH! My son is only 3 but I try to plan 2 weeks out and I always have a "backup" which is a workbook I can grab if I happen not to plan ahead of time, either of us is having a hard day, or if I'm not feeling well.

Great tips! As a mom of 4 boys schooling 9 years, I agree with it all. Hugs

Organizing! I spent half of summer break figuring out my system...2 weeks into the school year I realized it wasn't working and reorganized. 10 drawer cart labeled and next to the desk where i plan 😊

I’m so glad you are able to say no to the extra homeschool stuff that isn’t necessary if your kids don’t like it. Too many moms are forcing the poetry memory, nature journaling and constitution memorization, and copy work on kids who don’t enjoy it at all. Just because the moms enjoys it and others are doing it, doesn’t mean we have to give our kids to. I have 4 boys and the thought of poetry memory and old “classic” princess fairytales, or dressing up to play characters seems miserable to them. I’d rather them memorize scripture anyway!! So vital!💜✨
We do tea time but it’s because we live in an Asian culture and we have tea and coffee daily in the afternoon with snacks- what boy doesn’t want snacks?! Lol. My two middles also love writing their own stories so to get them to copy “boring” stuff all the time and write more seems redundant and like a punishment lol. They aren’t early elem anymore. I’d love to nature journal because it’s beautiful to me and my sons will draw ocean creatures but flowers and seeds and trees??...highly doubtful. They draw monsters and crazy cartoon warrior characters all the time- some in great detail and for HOURS! So why would I force them to draw more so they. Can draw a detailed sketch of a pea pod??.. if homeschool as meant to promote interest based learning...we should stick to that!😉💙

Yes so true! I tell myself that same thing all the time. Just because I like and enjoy something, doesn't mean that it is edifying, growing, or beneficial to either of my children. It's their education, not mine. I am a ver practical person, and take that approach to homeschool.

We let our daughter choose unit study subjects and it does go over well because her interest level is so much higher.

My 8 year old likes homeschool but has lost interest. I've asked him if he would like to go back to school and he says no. And I can't seem to get him to be interested in class. We use abeka because its what he has used in private school since prek and has had As and Bs, now it seems like he is a C average student. I feel like I'm not doing well with homeschooling and im failing him.

Would you by any chance be able to to make your videos louder? I normally don't have to have my volume all the way up on CZcams and with this video I had to and still could not hear you unless my phone is right at my face which sucks when I want to multi task and listen to your videos while I get stuff done around the house.haha.
