- Sydney Blue Mountains motorcycle ride. This adventure riding route starts at Lithgow and finishes at the Hampton Hotel. The route will take you through Marrangaroo, Hampton and Jenolan State Forest. It starts off with river crossings, hard hill climbs and descents, but finishes with some nice open fire trails and scenery.
This ride also sees my bike and I get stranded on a hard hill climb which involved a bike recovery.

Epic adventure Lance, your vids are always entertaining but this one had me on the edge of my seat.I liked your comments at the start and think it's great your channel is growing and it would be good to cover costs.I'm not sure how many people realize the work that goes into filming then editing so good on ya mate.Glad you could be rescued, goes to show how you must be prepared for things to go pear shaped, especially on your own and don't take unnecessary risks. Thanks mate, stay safe.
Thanks buddy, it certainly does cost money. I broke my GoPro and had to buy a new one and then my laptop couldn’t handle the new GoPro quality so a new laptop was bought, my wife was like hmmmmmmm. 😂
Glad you are alive mate
We got some riding to do 🤣
Jamie is an absolute legend too.
Stay safe 🤙🏼🤙🏼
I know, I know, only one more ride for me to test my new setup and that will be no hard tracks at all. Just a good cruise.
I sware I was born and bred in the blue mountains and now live sometimes within a stones throw from some of the national parks that you ride and feature regularly, i have never been to 90% of were you been and never knew it existed. I've made some bad lifestyle choices and now well into recovery, I've spent a few yrs feeling sorry for myself watching you and other adventures style CZcams channels....bro you don't know what your videos actually mean and do for me and I mean that in a way that's making work even harder and got a massive thurst to get out there explore and I don't even have to go far....cheers bro keep up the awesome content.
I’m glad these videos and others can help. That’s what it’s all about, to encourage others to get out and explore. The outdoors is the best therapy for everything I believe. 👍
@@The_Apprentice_Adventurer love to you bro....cheers...you also got me wanting to chase fitness too there is no way I could drag a bike around if I ever find myself in your situation in this video in my current state 😅
Love the Drz400 bike is legend!
Real Mates never leave another stranded........... good work lads, shame on the troubles but great ride needless to say...
12:32 you can actually undo the sump plug a little when oils settle to drain the water out before oil coz they don't mix and oil settles on top of water mate
That was intense! Can't imagine being out on my own in those temps with no water and a cooked bike!
Thanks mate.
Get a patreon or membership going.
Your channel is bloody good value👍
I saw your support mate. Thanks heaps. Much appreciated.
Agreed
Go,Go Sally ❤️❤️from Coral Springs FL USA .👏👏
Fair play to you Lance. I do a fair bit of solo riding but I generally avoid anything that looks too gnarly that I haven't encountered before. Your spirit for adventure is inspiring.
Jamie is top g. Love riding those trails, such a beautiful place
Thanks!
Mate, thanks so much for the support. Unreal 🤙
Jamie what a legand and Sir "Lancelot" 😉 that was EPIC.
Another epic video Lance, fair play to you about a bit of help funding the channel, it's not cheap to do this sort of thing when you factor in, fuel, tyres, camera etc. Your mate with the KTM, he needs to buy a fully prepped Dakar Truck to go through the rivers, hope his bike made it home ok without any internal damage and hey what a good fella he is coming to help is mate. Looking forward to your next adventure, stay safe mate
Nice
Great vid mate. Id advise getting the kick starter set and adding it. Good luck and enjoying your vids.
Awesome footage of keeping it real of what actually happens on the trail. Hopefully you recovered from that sketchy trip. Purchased your best of blue mountains GPX last week and have added to our loop, a mate and I are riding from SE QLD to Superbikes at PI in 3 weeks. May see you on the trail.
Thanks mate I appreciate the support. That’s awesome that you’re putting the loop into your trip. If you want other cool tracks, hit me up on messenger.
LVZ...... You rock brother...!!!!! I have been following you from day 1, Day DOT.. And thats no shit lie either...!! Your inland NSW videos and your Simpson desert crossing VD's keep me inspired.... And I have been riding motorbikes/dirt bikes since i was six years old....!!!! Keeeep up the awesome insane fucking top notch unbiased hardcore content that you keep producing.... It is not lost on us diehards....!!!! Evil as.......!!!! Go hard or go the fuck home i say....
Haha. Awesome stuff. Well you would have seen how crappy my first videos were in terms of editing. Had no idea what I was doing. I’m learning though.
I’ll keep at it mate for sure. Thanks for tuning in 🤙
That Kato never should be sucking in water like that , feel for him. They are too much money to have to deal with that out in the bush.
Great video Lance , some of that looked tricky , have you ever thought of installing a kick start , the button is great till its not : )
Yeah I nearly did it a few years ago but got talked out of it to be honest. 7 years on this bike and first flat battery. Definitely will bring a jumper kit though.
Lance.....maybe better for Jamie to take a ride out to Big Red...no water in the desert....he must have the desert model....Again...Sally Rules the Trails! Jamie to the rescue......I always bring a booster pack with me when more than an hour from any house or town. They are small and can power phones also. Hail the kick start. As always, great footage.
Haha I told him the next ride we will do no river crossings. He didn’t like the sound of that.
Yeah I’m going to rethink my day ride kit. Big rides I always bring one but never on a day ride. That needs to change.
Lance...your attrition rate for riders is bad...roughly 1 for approximately 40 KLm....so bring more so one can come back with you...I'm thinking maybe 6 for a day run.,,,would you call that a six pack? 🤔🤔....😂😂😂
hey Lance, tell Jamie when you see him next time to wrap around his spark plug boot with waterproof tape. I always had dramas with river crossings on my EXC as well until I realised that the spark boot was a weakness of the bike.
@@angelogmuller will do. I’ll send him that info right now actually.
Jamie needs a bloody DRZ!
That’s what I told him.
lance if you don't make it up a hill it's nearly always better to go down and start over with a better idea of what the best line is and how hard to hit it. pushing a bike on flat ground is hard, pushing a bike up a hill is a mugs game.
the optional kickstart kit will end any flat battery issues but you also could've clutch started the bike downhill.
Mate I’m well aware of these things but sadly got caught up in the situation and not processing anything properly at all didn’t help. There was something about that hill that simply took all my own knowledge away from me and mistakes were made.
@@The_Apprentice_Adventurer i'll be looking forward to seeing you go back and conquer it.
Bahahahaha First Jamie draining his bike AGAIN then Lance getting stuck. You two make me look like a professional . How do i get a invite to the next circus I LOVE IT. great watch i enjoyed it from start to finish and even subscribed.
Hahaha mate be careful for what you wish for lol.
I really feel for Jamie. He actually is a top rider. Obviously I’m filming the bad moments mostly but he can handle a bike.
Jump on my insta mate. I normally just post up there when doing a random group ride. 👍
Would love a start but sadly not do Insta . Great vid tho i loved it & I love how you do more harder type adventure rides . That’s what I enjoy seeing as no one remembers the easy rides . 👍
@@balkos450 in the coming months we will get something going. 🤙
There is a problem with the breather tube on some model Ktm s you should be able to move the drain tube
What a nightmare to get stuck so far into the bush!
Thanks for the support mate.
Hey bud love the channel not sure if you carry it all ready but maybe invest in a Garmin inreach or zolio. It gives you a bit more piece of mind if it all goes the shit and you have no service. Anyway keep these epic videos coming and look after poor Sally.
Yah :) I carry a Res-Q-Link for if the sht gets REALLY dangerous. It could happen. Best be safe.
Yeah I have a PLB for worst case scenarios. But would only press that if I was incapacitated in some way. In this particular insistence I just wanted my bike back. I will be revisiting my day ride tool kit though.
@@The_Apprentice_Adventurer Tool kits are nice. It took awhile but I finally kitted out the Versys 650 for very long trips - like 10K miles - with 4 tubes of tools and supplies. Waiting to do the same to the dual sport next.
Hey mate, epic riding. Love your work. Im mountains based too, and getting super inspired with your videos. I ride a DR650 and always surprises me how much it gets through. That being said, have you ever considered changing up to something newer/more modern? a 690/701 e.g.? just curious. Much appreciated.
Thanks for tuning in mate.
If I had to change bikes right now I’d love to give the 701 long range a go. Just way too expensive considering my little DRZ gets the same job done. But definitely a bike I’d like to ride.
Ive been struggling too with the same decision. The DR seems to manage everything i throw at it, so trying to decide if there's enough of an improvement/upgrade to justify the purchase of one of the Euro's. No point in saying 'ill buy one when the DR dies', as nothing can kill them :) Thanks again for the great content and hope to be able to tag along on a ride one day soon.
@@The_Apprentice_Adventurer
Nice ride, shame the ktm took water, better to have two riders, the mozzies making yoy loose blood made me chuckle.😂
Awesome stuff mate. 👍
Hard Adventure or Hard Enduro 😂
Fkn hell those DRZ 400's are sweet little bikes.
Glad you made it out ok
What a legend Jamie is
Thanks for sharing 🍻
Yeah I told Jamie to trade in and get a DRZ, he can’t believe how well it goes for an old bike. By the look of his face though I think he will keep the KTM lol.
You ever find yourself stateside around the Colorado area. Let me know. Would love to have you up on the mountains. Excelent video man.
Me an my mate use spal fans for out drz no problem in the messy shit be nice to ride with you both one day maybe
Maybe I need to start looking into a fan.
Mate jump on my insta and if there is a group ride come along.
Hey man! Love the vids.
You should treat Sally to a new stylish front mudguard ;)
What about one of those Suzuki RM mudguards? Has more shape!
Sally will look so sexy!
Mate Sally would throw me off if I changed her to much. Gotta keep it old school.
Calling Sally old will definitely make her throw you off haha@@The_Apprentice_Adventurer
Awesome video. What mic set up are you using for your helmet your voice is really clear. Love your work keep it up
Just a Rode Lavalier plugged into the GoPro media mod. It’s basic but gets the job done. 👍
@@The_Apprentice_Adventurer yeah man but it’s really good. Can hear you perfectly. That hill climb was crazy. Maybe you should take some water purification tablets you can fill up at the creeks on longer rides 👍
Does he have breather hoses that need to be rerouted?
The question everyone wants answered is when do you finish your apprenticeship?
Haha never mate, always learning and or winging it.
@The_Apprentice_Adventurer the end of that video looked like hard going with heat on top makes it tough going. Need to get out there myself, probably not on that hill though 🥴
@@Wayne-Kerr_Rudy-Zarzoff yeah it sucked big time. I’ll head out here and the do it two up.
Ha ha nice one. Since I can’t comment on the main feed I’ll throw some comments in here. Mate for the next video get on the bike and go down to the corner store and get a loaf of bread. No damage and no issues. Three videos now of a drowned Ktm. I’m looking for a new adventure bike and you’ve steered me well clear of them ha ha.
And it dosent matter if your a power house of a brick shit house a lack of water on a hot day is going to hit hard. Glad you were able to be rescued, and will be interesting to see how this effects your videos going forward.
@@budget-adventure buy a DRZ mate. You can’t go wrong. 🤙
a fair amount of people have blown engines in their ktm/huskies cause vacuum lines sucking up water/mud
Crazy such a top notch bike has such a problem.
Must have a leak in a breather hose or the intake.
Yeah something he will be looking into. Not normal for a brand new KTM.
What was the battery pack Jamie used to get your flat battery going again..?
@@user-pl8ym2yk9k he brought a big one from home. Not something you carry on the bike. I use a Rocky Creek one and it’s great. Just didn’t have it with me in this ride.
@@The_Apprentice_Adventurer Where'd you get the Rocky Creek one from..?
@@user-pl8ym2yk9k I just bought it from MCA in Penrith.
Is it Gibraltar trail and if so, shouldn't it be pronounced as Gee-Brawl-tar? Either way, that looks silly difficult. No wonder you changed the GPX file.
Mate my pronunciations are always wrong. Definitely a weak point of mine. Yeah the section I took is the original old school start point. Luckily there is a nicer version of it to enjoy the scenery with ease.
jib brolll tar is the correct pronunciation 😊
Imagine doing that on an Africa Twin thats 250kgs
No thanks lol.
Jamie needs to learn how to do a river crossing
Mate obviously my footage shows a lot of the bad moments. But honestly the bloke can ride, just some unlucky moments I think.
Only way to sort a ktm is sell it and buy a WR. KTM Keep Throwing Money
Which GPS are u using mate?
Just my mobile phone running ExploreOZ Traveller app. Aussie owned and operated.
