Like dark chocolate and cayenne ice cream. I wasn't expecting it to be the best thing ever, but then I tried it, and it's the best thing ever! That's BAND-MAID. ;-)
There are many people on CZcams who hold themselves out to be reactors and many of them do BAND-MAID reactions. But all they do is play the video, sometimes with pauses, and comment on how they like their costumes, or how cute they are or just say "that's awesome" without any explanation as to why. Those are the throw-away reactors. The ones I enjoy are the ones who give me (a non-musician) some insight into why I feel BAND-MAID is one of the top bands to grace my ears in a very long time. I enjoy hearing about the technical aspects of what they're doing without fully understanding it, but it does help me appreciate their music even more. Keep up with how you do your reactions. You're doing a great job.
Always a fan favorite. Please rant your likes and dislikes, especially for a musician. Band-Maid for me is just pure joy. Their awesome music is from their soul to mine. Peace. 2.54
If you're more into minor key stuff, i'd definitely suggest Giovanni from their latest album. No music or live video, only official audio but very worth it!
And I recommend doing a double feature and listen to the instrumental right after that. THAT'S where you hear how mental Kanami is going on that track.
Yep, 4 minutes that work better than any energy drink. 😁🔥🤘🏻 ___________________ 「 _"完璧なんてありえない" / Perfection? No one gets there._ 」 --- from BAND-MAID 'Warning' 🕊
Being a musician definitely helps. I've a music ed background as well, and one of the other cool things about this song is the structure. Notice that #1, as usual the 2nd verse has different musical accompaniment than the first (Kanami tapping for one), then from the guitar solo on is a structurally brilliant composition. Too bad you paused after the solo (but everyone does and I get why!) because a highlight is the dropping off of a cliff to the beautiful vocals, and then if you listen, that same "far away" vocal theme is re-introduced during the outro, intertwined with another guitar solo - then those descending notes to a big finish - it's just perfection!
One thing about a Band-Maid song, it's always a treasure chest of musical composition & I love reactors, who can break it down !! A song I've been obsessed with lately is, " Freezer " there's no MV for it......but it's well worth a listen !! ❤🎙🎸🥁😎👌
Rant to your heart's content! I enjoyed your reaction. I've listened to these songs dozens of times, always fun to hear a fresh take, especially from a musician. Thanks RdR!
Very good review of Band-Maid's Blooming! Reactors are pretty common, but relatively few are performing musicians with the expertise to fully comment on the music itself and how well it is performed by the artists. Non-musicians value people, such as yourself, to analyze the performance to teach them what to look for and appreciate in a band's musical work. Band-Maid is a rare group that has all the necessary elements to be deeply appreciated by both musicians and non-musicians alike. All we ask is an honest opinion, which you do very well, and a breakdown of those key attributes that makes these songs sound so great. Just a suggestion would be to call each band member by their proper names as a courtesy to these talented and hardworking band members and also to give a shout out to the band's website and the song's official web source. After all, Band-Maid's remarkable music is what we all come here to enjoy and discuss so anything that you can do to help promote a greater awareness of them with other music lovers would be greatly appreciated by their many fans. Rock on!!
I was told that when you don't know music theory or play any instrument, you feel the music. The more skilled musician you are, the more you start to break it down and dissect it. When you are a genius or a virtuoso, you start to feel the music again.
bro this song is use as official track to the movie kate in netfix along with choose while band maid performing it in the concert in the movie as band maid as special guest in that
Great reaction again, please may i suggest,,unfair game,, audio only no vid.but it is my fave Kanami solo, blew my mind the first time i heard it,and she really goes for it.the whole song has everything.
I like the way your musicianship enhances your reviews without being overbearing. Some do go overboard, then I just don't watch their reviews. I am not a musician,so I just focus on the music. And,for me,Band-Maid is their own genre; I never compare them to anyone else. Doesn't it go without saying that every musician is influenced by others; their music stands out when they just make it their own? That's just my opinion I look forward to your next review.
You're a man after my own heart. From Tono's first lead, which perfectly fits the song, to Hirose's drum playing, everything You said is spot on. This is the song that made them number one for me. A cohesive performance and intelligent songwriting. WONDERFUL!!! (So, where are the Western bands?)
Enjoyed your review and your insight as a musician. Band Maid is one of those rare artists who deliver for listeners of all levels. You mentioned that you liked Kanami’s tapping, and I agree. I’ve noticed she uses it, not as a “show off” thing, but as a melodic tool. Her right hand taps follow a melodic line, as a vocal performance might (She writes on piano as well)
Great comments. This is my favorite BM song (actually, tied with BLACK HOLE). Although Kanami first wrote the basic song, they apparently all contributed more than usual to the writing, so maybe Kanami felt free to shine a bit more. She usually write her parts first and keeps the solos short and completely within the constraints of her song. I think Akane WAS playing that tom rim line. There's a little peek at her playing at 3:15 in your video. Of course this was all put together in the studio so she may have recorded it separately.
Japanese is a great language for doing that staccato fast beat singing thing that sounds percussive. This song really highlights how cool and musical it can sound outside of just trying to hit high notes or something. Glad you found a solo from them you thought was of adequate length finally! Keep reviewing the way you do, some people gravitate to the musical analysis because they want someone who understands music and music composition to tell them why this damn band is so good at getting stuck in their head.
Your favorite at the moment :) just layer upon layer of creative goodness po. Its your channel so you just call it like you see it, we are here to share the Band-Maid experience it's what all of us fans do daily po.
MAYBE you know that song from the Netflix movie - Kate... This song plays in the chase scene with the cars... And if you not watched that movie, just do it, you will see Band-Maid for 2-3 minutes, they got an spot there, because the director of the movie is an big fan and all on the set were in love with the maids afterwards
Nothing wrong with your reactions m8. Just keep doing what you're doing. You come across as genuine and sincere and you know what you're talking about. Cheers from Australia!
Great reaction and I for one enjoy you insights and comments (and rants) as you have the understanding from a musical background, don't stop. Akane said in an interview that this was the first time she used a sample in a song. Also, you can't win an argument with Saiki and she can always out talk you.
I figured this song would be more your speed as far as solos go. Heck, you get two in this one. Their song "Alone" has an amazing solo as well. I've read that the outro music is the opening music played backwards, but I'm not sure if it's true or not. A musician would know better. They don't do 5-7 minute songs. It's just not going to happen.
I thought this would be right up your alley. Great review. If that was you ranting at the end do it more. Kanami uses PRS Custom 24 which are 25inch scale (as you probably know), but she down tunes them no problem. As far as I know 25inch scale is the largest PRS do. Some are a bit shorter.
Out of the unknowable number of reactions to 'Blooming' I've seen, I think I've only seen two reactors who didn't like it. One guy was an oddball that kept calling BAND-MAID's style "southern rock" for some reason. The other one was a "musician". He called Blooming "predictable" and "pedestrian". He must have realized just how wrong he was because he deleted his whole channel soon after we pointed out how wrong he was. Silly rabbit.
I remember the first guy you mentioned. He's not even a real reactor. He just tries to get a rise out of people. He has hundreds of videos on his channel, but only maybe 800 subs because he's a jackass. The other guy was probably doing the same thing. LOL
That drum beat between verses is a backing track. Normally during live performances Akane will start the track and the count lead in. Kanami makes most of the tracks. Which personally makes the Ladies that much more fantastic to me. Because with the track they are LOCKED in to their tempo. However there have been times when the backing tracks either messed up or they couldn't use them. In those cases, they bring out a microphone for MISA and Akane and launch into the show.
Just another Rock masterpiece by the Maids. Band-Maid always leaves you wanting more, especially with Kanami solos. Personally when a reactor brings something to the table like you do with your music experience I dig that much more than just a reactor that say watches a video and leaves. Don't change a thing, you're doing well.
Sadly they "sample" the lo-fi drum fill at the 2nd transition when live. Or, they have in the live shows Ive seen, but that was years ago, and they are constantly changing up their live productions and compositions.
Reactions are whatever a content creator makes of them. It is your sandbox to do as you like. You do you, and as long as you are comfortable doing it whatever way, all good. Some people analyze the tracks, some people are cheerleaders(or not). I always say follow the youtube metrics, if people are watching your videos at least until the end of the music track then you are doing better than average.
So, based on what you've reacted to so far, and what I am starting to see about your preferences, 1. The Non-fiction Days, 2. Real Existence, 3. Moratorium, 4. Glory, and Without Holding Back. For good live, Don't You Tell Me and Take Me Higher (Zepp Tokyo) have great solos, battles.
I love this song. nice reaction video. I keep forgetting to tell you if you like 6 min songs with serious guitar solos I think you will enjoy Bridear and their song brave new world revisited. I am definitly curious to hear your feed back on that one
It aught to be one of their anime songs, but it's not. Sounds like it tough, doesn't it. Even more than their actual anime songs. Check out 'Real Existence' LIVE next.
For a musician, some of your comments defy belief. I and others do not need to explain further. You don't know much about reactions, fair enough. You certainly do not hear stuff, that other people don't. Your comments show up your utter failure to analyse a studio audio recording. At least you are promoting Band Maid, in a very positive way and that is all that matters.
Start off the day with a tall glass of vinegar, eh? And then, of course, unload your insecurities on anyone close by. One wonders how people get off on that.
BAND-MAID Blooming are a sight to behold but BAND-MAID in full bloom are the best arrangement ever :)
I concur.
Flower Power!
Like dark chocolate and cayenne ice cream. I wasn't expecting it to be the best thing ever, but then I tried it, and it's the best thing ever! That's BAND-MAID. ;-)
Yes you are almost correct it was used in the film KATE on Netflix. CHOOSE ME was also used which they had a cameo.
There are many people on CZcams who hold themselves out to be reactors and many of them do BAND-MAID reactions. I agree 99% of the time I’ll only watch the reactions from musicians lol
Always a fan favorite. Please rant your likes and dislikes, especially for a musician. Band-Maid for me is just pure joy. Their awesome music is from their soul to mine. Peace. 2.54
this is my fav track BLOOMING the best
The "vocal rap" actually puts Saiki in the percussion section.
It doesn't matter what genre it is, Band Maid always make it their own.
If you're more into minor key stuff, i'd definitely suggest Giovanni from their latest album. No music or live video, only official audio but very worth it!
The track where Kanami basically solos the entire song? Great song and a great suggestion 👌
And I recommend doing a double feature and listen to the instrumental right after that. THAT'S where you hear how mental Kanami is going on that track.
Your musical knowledge is why I watch your videos. I enjoyed your musical rant in last 5 minutes
And this song was also used in the car chase scene from the Netflix movie "Kate"
The Riff Goddess goes full guitar hero on this track.
Almost like they made this video with all the neon lights to match your Gibson neon light sign in the background 😎. But yes this song is so on 🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻
Yep, 4 minutes that work better than any energy drink. 😁🔥🤘🏻

The solos on Warning and Day Dreaming are also very very good

This is my favorite BAND-MAID tune as well. Thank you for coming back to them once more. They deserve the attention.

Look for the P in D vids of their older material like Freezer.
I don't think the song was written by Kanami but the groove and the twin vocal playing up each other is amazing.
Rant to your heart's content! I enjoyed your reaction. I've listened to these songs dozens of times, always fun to hear a fresh take, especially from a musician. Thanks RdR!
Short song but we're not short-changed. Sublime 👊❤🤟🤟 Good reactions man 👍

Best bit of melodic tapping ever and at such speed. Most metal tapping not so interesting. The outro chords are the reverse of the intro.
