I'm planning my first outdoor bouldering trip and this was really helpful. Thanks :)
Glad it was helpful! Enjoy your first trip out 👍
As you asked, My best tip on a good way to start bouldering would be to watch your videos. Very helpful thank you
😄 Aw, thank you!
Really helpful and clear, thank you! Can't wait to hit Dartmoor with my brand new mats

Great vid. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
great advice
Thank you 😊
Glad you found it useful 👍
Great video - just got to find a way to get out of the flatflands of Berkshire now! No boulders here!
Thank you 😊. We know your pain! we both grew up in the flatlands around Cambridge 😆 The Southern sandstone isn't too far away from you (Harrison Rocks and Bowles Rocks), or Portland/ Swanage might be within a day's trip.
Hope you find somewhere!
Very nice video :)
Thank you very much 😊
at 2:16, it looks like an outdoor climbing gym xD
😆 it does!
1:45 looks like Portland... don't suppose you remember which crag? Thanks for another great video, some good points I hadn't considered.
Thank you :) it’s St Aldhelms near Worth Matravers around Swanage, some nice face climbing on the top level (just drop down at the coastguard outlook), and there’s more down on the beach area too
Climbing Nomads Thank you so much! Been trying to find some taller boulders in the area. I’ll take a look at the St Aldhelms guide on the Rockfax app.
hi thanks for the vid! i’m thinking of taking up outdoor bouldering but have only been in indoor gyms two or three times ever. do you think it’s a prerequisite to have experience indoors first? i am fairly athletic and in good shape. Thanks for the great vid!
Hi, glad you liked the video :) whilst having some experience of climbing indoors is good, don’t think it’s 100% necessary to have before heading outdoors :)
It’s probably best to go with another climber, so you have a spotter and someone to bounce beta ideas off.
When lockdown ends, get a pad, a guidebook and head out and have fun!
I like how they call the boulder a "problem."
I'm so tempted to by myself a pad but wonder if it's worth it since we are now into August and winter will be here soon.
it's possible to climb in cold weather, many people do. just depends if thats something you'd be into or not !
@@maxwellm3246 cold isn't much an issue. It's mostly the rain and since I live in Scotland, it rains alot😂
@@TheDiabeticBiker ahh, a little different here in new england haha
In case I want to go bouldering outside alone, Do you have any good ideas how to carry multiple crashpads?
Right now I have 1 Petzl CIRRO and considering to get another one.
Hi,
Carrying two pads is doable but can be awkward on uneven ground. I usually turn the second pad sideways and place it's shoulder straps over the top of the first pad. tightening just above the shoulder straps on the first pad. It usually sits slightly off centre but is manageable. (Hope that makes sense)
Option two is to use some roof rack straps to strap the second pad to the rear of the primary pad.
Hope that helps
Enjoy your bouldering 👍
Brett & Sophie
@@TheClimbingNomads Thanks for the tip.
Your videos are great (Y)
Thank you 😊 glad we could help 👍
What if the guidebook does not specify starting holds?
Hi,
If the guide book does not specify starting holds, then it is usually whatever holds you can reach from standing or sitting if it states sit start 👍
@@TheClimbingNomads love u
I'll stay in he gym 😅
You have reminded me what a great problem gorilla warefare is.
😆 yes, Soph’s keen to get back on it for the tick!
Hobby to be avoid you never where you ll fall. What kinds of sports is this even😳?
