I think if Dragoon were to perish and emergency surgery were to take place Red Mantle would have a relatively high chance of survival and recovery, however I don't believe the same if it were Red Mantle to die first, being as they're sharing Red Mantle's body. Red Mantle was pretty accurate at calling him akin to a tumor, Dragoon is basically a sentient outspoken tumor at this point, albeit a hilarious one.

That's what happened to Futurama, Fox didn't want it but they also didn't want some other network picking it up and making money with it either. Soon as the rights reverted Comedy Central picked it up.
I'd just like to point out that these two are amongst the last remaining members of the original council of thirteen, not to mention they along with Dr.Z were the only ones to evade the sovereign's trap entirely; not bad for some golden oldies.
I would love to have seen Dragoon restored to his own body, and then the two of them end up moving in together because they've got used to one another.
One of the few times I've laughed so hard, stuff shot out of my nose was when Red Mantle was scoring with Redusa until Dragoon blows everything, and you see them both running down the hall, a tiny Dragoon head squeaking in terror at being shrunk~
