That's a good explanation and I like the video game analogy / metaphor.
This following is an excerpt from a book by an author.
Another way to look at it is... "The ‘I’, in the form of Infinite Consciousness, doesn’t ‘incarnate’ into a ‘physical body’ and nor do we actually ‘leave’ the body at death, although that analogy is fine to use symbolically. When you are sitting at a computer and you log onto the Internet ‘you’, the person at the keyboard, don’t go anywhere. You sit in your chair while the images on the screen change as your computer reads information and turns it into text and images that you can see. What you are observing appears to move, but not you, Our reality is like that, too. Our Consciousness looks into this ‘world’ through the body-computer in the same basic way that you look into the Internet through your desktop computer. I was sitting in the bath one day when I had a vivid picture appear in my mind. It began a mass of swirling energy that I immediately took to be Consciousness. An eye then appeared amidst the energy and in front of the eye came a telescope. This looked out to Earth and the wider Universe, and finally the telescope morphed into a human body. Consciousness experiences this reality through the ‘lens’ of the body computer. It doesn’t go anywhere. It is always where is it and when the computer / lens / telescope ‘dies’ we - Consciousness - are still where we always were. It is just that we are not looking through the lens anymore and thus our reality changes. When we turn off the desktop computer after a period on the Internet we are still where we were when were on the Internet. We look into the World Wide Web, we don’t actually go into it. The virtual-reality universe can be so compelling, however, that Consciousness becomes mesmerised and bewildered into believing it is inside the game. This transfers attention to the five senses alone and people become trapped in mind and body reality. When the body ‘dies’, the lens ceases to function and Consciousness starts to remember what the lens had caused them to forget. What we call ‘death’ is simply ceasing to look through the lens. ‘Death’ is putting your telescope down."

The adult version of any insect is called "imago". I'd never noticed how that is rooted in imagination, food for thought! For when I am not munching on my past self goo, that is... ;-)

Do you have a suggestion for those of us who struggle with intense social anxiety, shyness and stage fright? I’ve felt for a long time that what’s on the other side of these limitations is something unimaginably fantastic, yet it’s SO difficult in the moment. I panic and get short of breath (no matter how much I try to consciously change the breath pattern), I can feel my lips quivering and feel like a child again about to burst into tears. It makes me feel ridiculous when it can simply be a social setting I’ve walked into inducing these feelings. Do we just push through no matter how difficult and painful it feels? None of this is spiritual sorry to say, this is metaphysical everything you say is about mind and duality. Nothing wrong with it. But the higher self aka the soul is singularity it is samadhi. Meaning there is not 1 thought in the mind nor any judgement good or bad. The soul just IS it is the silent presence that observes all reality it is nothing yet something. Most people get stuck this far in the journey they think the “good” side of the ego is the higher self which is just a illusion as wel. Hope people reading this one day reach samadhi if not next life time🙏🏽
“To connect” is all ready A MAJOR sign of ego because the soul is. You never need to connect and second. “Im gonna explain this” is also sign of ego thinking it had the answer.BODY MIND SOUL, soul is separate from the mind meaning you cant get there through thinking. Much love for trying to help others but this will just make your journey longer then it needs to. The soul is samadhi. Beyond mind beyond good and bad nothing yet something. Mind can never go there hope you see this soon one day
Ow and talking about your higher self and earth self is just ego states meaning earth self is the bad ego higher self good ego. That is the spiritual trap which many souls get trapped in damn… but hey when the time comes thy shall know
