I love this hotel so very much, but we love so many of the good neighbor hotels almost just as much so I can rarely justify the price for more than one night! But it is a very swoon worthy place. Lots of childhood memories there for me growing up in Huntington Beach!
I totally agree. If I go for a week, I usually end up here or at the Grand for one or two nights at the end of my trip and off-set the cost by staying at something decent but 'cost effective' 😁 OH you grew up in Huntington Beach!? Beautiful place 😎

I was able to stay at the Disneyland Hotel with my three sons. They loved the resort more than the park. The Marina Tower was under renovations when I booked through AAA. The desk clerk mentioned that the carpet had been removed on the hall and scaffolding was outside our windows. She gave use $300 in Disneyland Dollars for or inconvenience. The boys lived having their own DD money to spend!

I really want to stay here at least once! Okay where I really want to stay is the castle, but that's not going to happen, so this is a close second! LOL I love the nostalgia and the magical touches in the rooms!
It is a great place and I love it so much!!!! But I only stay here for 1-3 nights of my trip on a rare occasion if I can find a really good price on a good neighbour hotel for the remainder of my trip to offset the cost.
Not even going until 2 years with my friends but tryna plan it all early, thanks for the guide

Thanks for the review. I’ve only stayed at the Disneyland Hotel once, and really enjoyed my stay. I did appreciate the proximity to the parks, as I took the monorail from downtown Disney to Tomorrowland. Definitely less than a 10 minute walk, and you get your first experience while bypassing the crowded entrance. Was the monorail not working when you did your review?
Hi Lester! You know, I love taking the monorail but I find it takes longer than 10 minutes when you factor in the wait time, unless there’s a monorail waiting for me...but I guess it also depends on where I’m going in the park. I mention it in some of my other videos but since it’s only stop is in Tomorrowland I didn’t want to confuse first time guests...especially since it doesn’t access DCA. I would also not want to take away the first timers experience of entering the park the way Walt intended 😉 thanks for your helpful comment though! It’s definitely something I wish I’d gone into in a little more detail in the video but nobody’s perfect 😅

I’m so happy that this hotel is finally reopening! I’ve never stayed at any of the Disneyland Hotels due to we’re only a 20 minute drive away, but the Disneyland Hotel has always been my favorite out of the three! My husband and I got married last year & planned a Disneymoon at both the Aulani & Disneyland Resort! Unfortunately the pandemic affected our Disneyland portion of the honeymoon. We’re super excited to redo our honeymoon later this year & we’re looking forward to our stay at this magical hotel!
Oh that is a major bummer that your Disneyland portion of the honeymoon had to be cancelled!!!! I'm excited you'll be able to do it now that things are opening up again though...I feel like I could use a second honeymoon now after the year we've had....😅 How was Aulani??? I want to go but it's hard to justify the price....
@@HonestHotelReviews thank you! So happy we’re booked for everything! I agree & If our honeymoon hadn’t been affected by the pandemic, we’d probably do a 2nd honeymoon too lol! The atmosphere Aulani gives is magical in itself! We loved being there & we’re grateful for the upgrade they gave us from a garden view to a full ocean view on the 10th floor! We can’t really give a detailed review as all resort activities & dining were suspended!🙁 Other than ordering room service, enjoying the lazy river, and shopping in their gift shop - there wasn’t anything else we could do. The resort was a literal ghost town! We are definitely looking forward to experiencing the Lūau, Makahiki, and the Laniwai Spa!
Can't wait to stay there on the 14th-18th. And I'm doing the Walt's Main Street Story tour and seeing Walt's Apartment!!

I am so sorry I missed this comment!!!!! 😬 There are only 3 Disney owned hotels -- The Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier and the Grand Californian...Personally, I much prefer the Disneyland and Grand Cali hotels but the price tag is a bit scary...There are some great good neighbor hotels within walking distance that are much cheaper and if I'm in town for a week I'll find a deal for 4-5 nights then book a Disney hotel for 2-3 nights to help offset the cost. It would be so much fun to meet up if you guys make the trek one day!!!!! xoxo Julia

I’ve never understood how they won’t accept a drivers license as ID. I got mad once saying it’s risky to ask their guests to carry their passports. What if we lost them?! They should be in the hotel safe. Ugh. Little things like that annoy me. Either way, love this vid. Thanks for sharing!
I KNOW!?!?!? I always feel unsafe having my passport on me. I've had luggage stolen from me before and I know how much that ruined a trip...so I can't imagine having to deal with a stolen passport....too much hassle. Thanks for the comment!
I love Disneyland and the Disneyland Hotel is my favorite of the three hotels.. I've stayed there many times over the years. Nice review. A few thoughts: 1. I never walk from the hotel to the front gate.. The monorail entrance is very close to both The DL Hotel and The Grand Californian.. Maybe a 3 minute walk. 2. Parking. The DL Hotel is an old school hotel. there's plenty of parking in a few lots right in front of the hotel (as opposed to back near your room). The parking lots are well light, patrolled and have easy access to main Anaheim streets and freeways... but it's a bit of a walk from your room down to your car... Think a couple or three blocks.. Seems farther after a long day on your feet at the park.. Worse if you're older, out of shape or have difficulty walking... Limited Handcapped parking is available but seems to stay filled.... Not sure if preferred or valet parking is available at The DL Hotel 3. Leaving the park property to eat, shop, sightsee, or whatever is easy .. Dont feel like you have to eat, sleep and breathe Disney just because youre staying there.. (unless you want to). Restaurants for every taste and budget .. Every type mall, supermarket, retail store and service.. Clubs, bars, theaters.. Everything you could want or need is just minutes away in every direction.. Yelp is your friend.

Stayed there, the price was costly for breakfast, with our 8 year old for her to see the Disney characters. We chose to have just one of us (parents) to eat with her.

Hi Kelley! You aren’t dreaming, I definitely neglected to talk about it in this video BUT I don’t like to rely on it for transportation since it’s still a good 5 minute walk from the hotel and is often really busy in the mornings. Funny thing is it literally just reopened on the day you left this comment so your spidey senses must have been tingling. 😊
We live in UK and have been to Disneyworld in 2018 and 2023. We are thinking about California would you recommend Disneyland over world and do you think you need the full 14D (assuming going to Universal to) thanks

Let the kids choose their favourite Disney Parks souvenirs!!! When the kids are very good, then they deserve more souvenirs. Every good behaviour kid should have 1-2 bags of Disney Parks souvenirs: plush toys, toys, mini figures, bubble blower, Mickey ears, t-shirts, jacket, drinking bottle, and some pins or magnets and etc. Please buy only those Disney Parks souvenirs, what the kids very want!!!! I know many Disney souvenirs are very expensive, but when the kids are very good all the times, then sometimes they deserve these things!!! Please be kind parents and make Your kids very happy with these Disney Parks souvenirs, what the kids have chosen and don’t say NO all the times, when the kids very deserves those Disney Parks souvenirs for good behaviour!!!

Unfortunately, you are correct that they overcharge. Everything in their hotel rooms is the same found in a value resort by rivals like Universal. I like the decor but I wouldn't stay in a Disney owned hotel because the prices are too steep, even for a "value" level resort. Consider this: in the "off season" in January, not one but THREE buses packed with Brazilian tourists poured into the Cabana Bay Resort where I stayed. This is a Universal owned hotel. More than half of them were planning to go to Disney World while the rest went to Universal. I picked the hotel because I felt the location and price were just right and I was going to Universal and CityWalk for vacation.
i have heard concerns of safety when walking from non disney hotels to the park. did you feel the 10 minute walk through downtown disney is safe?
I love your video, and I miss the DL hotel so much. Unfortunately, after the pandemic, Disney made it so the resort hotels are only affordable to people on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.
I have never stayed on property, but I am thinking about this as a hotel for an anniversary trip with my boyfriend.

You spoke of the ten minute walk to the parks yet failed to mention that You can enter Disneyland via the Monorail which is quite close to the Disneyland Hotel.
How much does it cost for a basic room?
Overall a fair review except when it comes to value. Few would believe a $400/night would be anything less than a 5 star hotel which disney hotel is not.
Agreed! You’re definitely paying for the proximity and nostalgia here, not quality of the hotel. Honestly I can’t believe the prices that all Disneyland area hotels are charging some days…I hope it goes down eventually lol 😂 Thanks for your comment!

They still had the single use ones. I was surprised actually! I was expecting the pumps lol

I’m curious if the manager who was so solicitous after the regrettable incident with the desk clerk was made aware of your CZcams channel prior to extending all the generosity. Yes, I’m that cynical. I enjoyed the review, though for me personally I didn’t see a single thing about the property that warrants the high price. Definitely more kitsch than luxury. I love kitsch, but not at luxury prices, haha.

The Monorail is your entrance to Disneyland and is only 3 minutes from the Hotel. Did you guys take the Monorail? Definately a great Hotel perk!
Stayed at Disneyland hotel and our stay was nice, but the walk to the park gates was far in my opinion my kids were tired and complaining the whole way back to our room.
Why won’t they let you in without a passport ? That’s so weird ?
To let you know children can eat in Trader Joe till 8pm and then they to leave.

I am really hoping they changed their rules because we were so disappointed to be kicked out for not having our passports on us. I would have been happy to not drink alcohol but we were told we couldn’t even stay in the bar without them.
