The writers weren’t really cooking when it came to continuity……..or storytelling for that matter Journeys had to rely on decades worth of adventures and stories but most of it was fanservice and cameos which might’ve been the point but still pretty weak

I agree about Journeys doing Serena dirty, but I blame Wallace from stopping Ash from seeing Chloe's contest debut just to battle him due to him being petty over losing the Champion to Steven, thus not allowing Ash to have more time catching up with Serena, and Goh for still trying to get the Altaria when they could have gone to meet up with Chloe after the contest was over in the episode.
I used to think that Serena had the highest chance with Ash since she's the only one who actively made moves on Ash. However after watching Ultimate Journeys and seeing how he interacted with her. I'd have to say her chances aren't looking good. Of course he only saw her once as she was leaving on a boat. But honestly considering their career paths whereas ash wants to be a pokemon master that explores the world while Serena is working to become a superstar. If they were in a relationship I'd feel that ash would likely loose the freedom he enjoys so much. You also have to consider a small clip we saw a long time ago where Misty was talking to her children about their father. I think they were heavily implying it was ash. Because I mean, who else? And thing is... the World Monarch sounds complimentary to something like Kalos Queen or Hoenn Princess. I don’t hate Serena but I find her to be overrated because her character felt forced by the writter, being written as a love interest to Ash coming out nowhere. Her knowing Ash from childhood is a redcon, and when a character is written to be a love interest from the start, there wont be much room for complex character growth added into her character. It’s not just nostalgia I promised, but I prefer Ash’s relationship with Misty more. Misty was not written to be Ash’s love interest, and their first meeting was a hot mess. They didn’t have the best chemistry at first (man that guy fried her overpriced cerulean bike), but they developed their friendship throughout the show. Misty also started to develop genuine care for Ash as a friend, and more than a friend after. Love that sparks from friendship will always have more depth and meaning, than someone who admires a person from the get-go, because without the motivation of romantic feelings, Misty developed a pure genuine platonic care and love from Ash. So there’s more depth when I see her relationship with Ash, and how they changed each other for the better, and how Ash contributed in Misty becoming a competent gym leader.

It’s something the English dub aka 4Kids, that was notorious for f*cking with a lot of anime, added in, Misty always kinda had a crush on Ash ever since they met, despite their bad intro. When they finally went their own ways, Misty even had a song (at least in the English dub) that she really loved him, and he reacted similarly to this scene. For a while a lot of OG fans shipped them, but there’s also a lot that ship Serena with Ash instead, because this was an intentional plot. I haven't watch Ash enter the Galar league and I really want Serena return as Ash's travel companion permanently in the real Sword and Shield series anime because Journeys anime is just a non-canonical reboot.

I agree about Journeys doing Serena dirty, but I blame Wallace from stopping Ash from seeing Chloe's contest debut just to battle him due to him being petty over losing the Champion to Steven, thus not allowing Ash to have more time catching up with Serena, and Goh for still trying to get the Altaria when they could have gone to meet up with Chloe after the contest was over in the episode.

I used to think that Serena had the highest chance with Ash since she's the only one who actively made moves on Ash. However after watching Ultimate Journeys and seeing how he interacted with her. I'd have to say her chances aren't looking good. Of course he only saw her once as she was leaving on a boat. But honestly considering their career paths whereas ash wants to be a pokemon master that explores the world while Serena is working to become a superstar. If they were in a relationship I'd feel that ash would likely loose the freedom he enjoys so much. But if we look at how he interacted with Misty during Ultimate Journeys; It's clear to me that it's likely they're going to be the paring. You also have to consider a small clip we saw a long time ago where Misty was talking to her children about their father. I think they were heavily implying it was ash. Because I mean, who else? Tracy? Who gives a crap about Tracy?

I don’t hate Serena but I find her to be overrated because her character felt forced by the writter, being written as a love interest to Ash coming out nowhere. Her knowing Ash from childhood is a redcon, and when a character is written to be a love interest from the start, there wont be much room for complex character growth added into her character.
It’s not just nostalgia I promised, but I prefer Ash’s relationship with Misty more. Misty was not written to be Ash’s love interest, and their first meeting was a hot mess. They didn’t have the best chemistry at first (man that guy fried her overpriced cerulean bike), but they developed their friendship throughout the show. Misty also started to develop genuine care for Ash as a friend, and more than a friend after. Love that sparks from friendship will always have more depth and meaning, than someone who admires a person from the get-go, because without the motivation of romantic feelings, Misty developed a pure genuine platonic care and love from Ash. So there’s more depth when I see her relationship with Ash, and how they changed each other for the better, and how Ash contributed in Misty becoming a competent gym leader.
How is no one talking about misty i mean original ash and misty were supposed to get married
Because most of the people commenting don't want Ash to end up with someone who will treat him like an equal. They want him to end up with someone who will worship him, 24/7, and demand that he acts like a god as well.

Same. I think in a way Ash liked her too, just was too dumb to realize it was a crush considering how many times he teased her, but was also too focused on being a trainer to be in a relationship. Plus Misty supported him a lot and was shown several times having feelings for him, including a song when they formally went their own ways. I haven’t seen Serena’s story in the show, but her feelings for Ash always seemed like a one sided love and he only liked her as a friend. I just like how Misty was his best friend in the first few seasons before they developed feelings for each other, while Serena imo always viewed him as a childhood crush she never really got over. Serena and ash it definitely feels one sided when you consider that anyway flashbacks or daydreams are all from Serena. Which is odd when you think shouldn't ash have some as well. Nope none from him who is the main protagonist of the show. also I agree ash treats her no different than any of his friends, The only difference is Serena doesn't even argue with him which is bad for relationships if there is no balance of disagreements at times when necessary. Plus it feels fake if Serena is being too nice and not calling out ash of anything stupid to help him grow.
That one argument when they were out in the snow doesn't count because it was poorly executed and one sided because Serena missed the point of why he was depressed and her imagine of ash was damaged because he got mad at her for the first time. Im from the outside looking in as im out of touch with Pokemon, but i thought he and Misty were a thing. I don't recall Serena in the beginning of the series, and where was she when Ash set off on his journey? Was she created just to be a love interest?
She wasn’t made until XY. They just added that story in when the XY anime started.
The Japanese creator of Pokemon confirmed in an interview that Misty and Ash were never meant to be a couple. It’s something the English dub aka 4Kids, that was notorious for f*cking with a lot of anime, added in, Misty always kinda had a crush on Ash ever since they met, despite their bad intro. When they finally went their own ways, Misty even had a song (at least in the English dub) that she really loved him, and he reacted similarly to this scene. For a while a lot of OG fans shipped them, but there’s also a lot that ship Serena with Ash instead, because this was an intentional plot. In comparison to Misty who was supposed to be nothing more than his best friend considering how much she and Brock traveled with him. Personally I like Misty a lot more, Serena’s always came off as a one sided love and Ash only liked her as a friend, nothing more

Plus, the "confirmation" of Ash ending up with Serena straight up doesn't even exist, and wouldn't even make sense considering the source material.

At the moment I’m on XYZ but, that was thier only interaction in the whole series of Journeys I don’t understand it. Like they just left and didn’t catch up or anything romantic …why do that to the story it just ruined it.
