Weird Al shows us that the nice guy doesn't always finish last.
His band and most of his touring and recording crew have worked for him for around 40 years, unheard of in show biz. That's a real testament to what kind of a person he is.
This man is a national treasure and he does not seem to age much.
His hair is the only give-away.
My Dad (and Mom) used to work in TV throughout the 80s into the early 2000s at MuchMusic. He ran into Al in the elevator. He made a point to shake Al's hand and show his admiration. Apparently, Al was so awesome and cracked a few jokes with my Dad. Coolest Dad story ever.
I went up to Al at a diner in L.A. once. He was with a date (this is long before he was married), and said "Al? Before your food comes, I just wanted to come up and say you are one of our most underrated comedians, and I really appreciate all of your work, including the style parodies." As he was saying "Thank you" his date growls a very sarcastic "Thanks a lot!" I realized at that moment that he was with comedian Judy Tenuta, whom I didn't recognize at first (in her old stand-up act, she used to wear HEAVY makeup b/c of the character she played; in person she was quite beautiful). I was like, "Oh! Ms. Tenuta! Well. you're funny too." She went "Yeah, yeah." I said to Al. "She doesn't seem to be buying it." He said back. "She never does." We chatted for another minute, and that was it. It was a really funny interaction.
One of the few musicians and songwriters who has survived 5 decades in the business and still puts out stuff that ends up on Muchmusic.
He seems like such a sweet and lovely person
Well, it be weird if he wasn’t.
He really is. Great guy, my "nerd crush"! 🥰
He’s a Christian! Never has been in trouble! And he has clean comedy that’s why we love weird Al!
@@iluvwanesworld who cares what his religious beliefs are?
Ted Cruz is a Christian as well, and look how that turned out.
@@michaellonergan2698 Because Christians are mocked by our media, they never mention Christians like Al who are living for Jesus
Weird Al should be the Superbowl entertainment every year.
A thousand times yes!!!
he seems like a really nice guy
Weird Al's 6 month, mostly sold out tour, had no parodies. The crowds went wild for Al's incredible original songs.
Al is one of the most accomplished composers on Earth, less than half of the songs on his 14 studio albums are parodies.
It kills me that this great musician is so under rated.
He's incredibly talented but without the parodies I doubt he'd even be close to his level of fame today
🤣❤️ czcams.com/video/oCfsHuD4c_o/video.html
I understand your frustration but I don’t think it bugs Al much at all. And that humility is a big part of why seemingly everyone loves the guy so much.
@@musicarain4702 I tend to disagree with that statement that he wouldn’t have been as famous. Nobody can really answer that for sure unless there’s some paradox universe where Al chose to take a more serious approach to music. But the fact is the kind of music Weird Al has pursued is a hard path to take. He certainly had a lot of set backs that other artists don’t have to deal with. The big reason he’s managed to pave out a career doing this his type of music is his versatility as a singer and his undoubtably genius lyrics. It’s pretty difficult to pull off all the different genres he tackles, he also has to not only manage to replicate the sound of the original artist, create lyrics that fit to the original song and have vocals that mimic original vocalist style but also have them clear and concise that the listener can follow along to pick out all his jokes. Something like smells like nirvana is pretty much ingenious, he’s managed to replicate the style and have vocals that you can understand lyrics. Then he can do rap or any other style and pull it off. Doubt there’s too many artists and bands as versatile has been throughout his 40 years career. And he never had massive commercial success. He certainly as talented as many artists that have have taken a serious approach and sold 10 times his albums.
Underrated? He’s certified platinum! ;)
gosh, Weird Al just oozes charisma
This guy seems so genuinely nice and down to Earth. Fun interview!
Weird Al elevates every show that he appears on, even this one
If you had asked, I would have told you I'd never watch this show, but Weird Al makes everything better, so...
He’s an American treasure. Love weird Al
Love him too.
I treasure him and I’m Scottish 😂😂❤
He is so much fun.
I saw him about ten years ago in concert, fifth row. Best experience ever.
I’ve been to 17 of his concerts!! I’ve been going to them ever since I was a little kid!! my first one was all the way back in August 2007, and my most recent one was October 2022!! I really really hope to God he does at least one final regular tour with the big stage, production, costume changes, and video screens. I am more than sure that a guy like weird I would not leave his fans hanging like that, and he would do one final farewell tour before he officially decided to retire and settle down with his family. LOVE WEIRD AL!!
He may be weird, but he is a decent and kind-hearted person. He deserve his success.
he's up there with Dolly Parton and Bob Ross as far as I'm concerned
Weird Al is a national treasure who doesn't get anywhere near the credit he deserves for all he's done.
Imagine being so full of yourself that you write letters to people demanding they don't look at you. 😂
Hes such a darling. I havent gotten to watch the movie but I'm so excited to.
It was hysterical!
Always positive and warm vibe with Weird Al.☺️
If you’ve never been to one of his concerts, make a plan to see one! His shows are jam packed full of music, videos, and other entertainers who open for him (Emo Phillips, for example) and you will laugh more than you can believe. His band is truly talented and Al himself is one of the most energetic and generous performers ever.
Loved Weird. Was shocked at how they portrayed his father. Wish the ladies would have discussed that. Hope you all watch this movie.
Weird Al is so talented
I love old Al just like I love young Al.
He is too real .. Really Great 😃👍
I Never thought of dressing up as weird Al for Halloween lol Halloween here I come!
Al mentioned Jack Black, but I think he meant Jack Blades of Night Ranger.
Caught that too.
@@SgtPeppers2001 Names are similar. It’s easy to mix up.
Man I love this guy,he’s so awesome
His Hamilton bit was wonderful. He’s a cheerful genius.
Van Halen put the MM's thing in the concert contracts to make sure they were read thoroughly especially if they used pyrotechnics
This was a great interview and he’s such an uplifting person. I saw him on the Broadcast but missed the link until just now. His parody videos brought lots of humor to people
another person I’m glad is still around! I was obsessed with your I’m Fat and Eat It. 👏🏻
Weird Al could make a Monty Python movie he is perfect for a role in a satirical musical
He made the movie UHF in the late 80's and it didn't do well at the theaters. To be fair it went up against Honey I Shrunk the Kids. It has since become a cult classic. As a kid, I saw both movies in the theater and loved UHF way way more!
Did he do 'Eat It' parody of 'Beat It', and 'Fat' parody of 'Bad' they are the most iconic songs he did and got famous.
I wanna chill with Weird Al! Love him
Looking back at weird Al’s career I think I finally know how to think of him. He is a comedian, but unlike other Comedians who either use sketch comedy or stand-up comedy he chose to use music as his platform.
Love Weird Al. Always. **fyi- Jack Black from Night Ranger- that's Jack Blades, WA...lol...guess he had Jack Black on the brain (one of many cameos in his epic bio pic, haha)- it's a hilarious "mock-u-mentary"- loved it, hahahahahah
Yes, Jack Black as Wolfman Jack the disc jockey. Soo good!!
Yeah, Jack Black is Tenacious D 😎
I’ve been a fan since I first heard him! He seems so down to earth despite all his silliness. ❤
I watched the movie last weekend. Hilarious.
I saw him live this past year it was so much fun!
The View doesn't understand the talent inside that man. I hope they learn it.
Coming out to "white and nerdy." Yes!!!
I used to love Eat It lol 😂
i love that shirt
I'm a geek for weird Al always have always will
Prince didn't play about his music--Weird Al never had a shot. 😂
He looks the same as always 👌
A real person, sweet,..
White and Nerdy was a classic 🔥
Weird Al doesn’t give himself enough credit. He’s a pop cultural phenomenon.
So Prince really thought he was a Prince..
PRINCE i guest that as soon as she asked the question and said "Iconic" at 4:05,he's fun i never seen anything he did but i like Daniel and the movie looks fun,i'm 100 percent gonna watch it.
Al has joined the “Celebrities That Seem Way Younger Than They Are Hall of Fame” along with Ringo Starr and James Hetfield.
Prince was such a diva!!! The fact that people think that man was straight is hilarious
Love the guy.
I appreciate all y’all
I wish he did thriller
Legend
One of the best funniest movie ive seen in a while
He has the same hair as sunny
That was a good intro with one of my favorite parody songs that he wrote was white and nerdy
Jack Black was not in Night Ranger...
Jack Blades was.... and still is....
*does this mean that Weird Al is going to eventually appear as a wizard world musician?...that would be more than kinda awesome*
💋I love love love you Al am a huge Canadian fan and have been for day #1. 👏🤘
Another one rides the bus! Love you Al
Weird Al Yankovic and Sunny Hostin have the same hairstyle.
Weird Al looks better 😊
The movie is very, very funny
Keanu Reeves and Weird Al Yankovic for president
The track I've been wanting to listen to, in its entirety bc I'd only heard a snippet of it: Chicken Pot Pie.
Prince in my opinion was rude 😩
Lorencito had his Hawaiian shirt
Jonseys website for his single subject research design reminds me of imposter syndrome
EVERY INTERVIEW. The Prince question.🤣🤣🤣
Funny that Joy has never heard of a graphic novel.
I'm a fan of him and Meat Loaf and always wished Al would make "I'd Eat Anything For Lunch (But I Won't Eat That)
His Steinman/Meat Loaf song is Stop Forwarding that Crap To Me.
We need a Weird Al parody of a Donovan song
I love Prince but the no eye contact request is ridiculous. I would have gotten in his face and created a scandal. That's just uncalled for .
It’s actually not that uncommon for celebs to request that Charlize Theron does the same
@@millsykooksy4863 so does Tom Cruise. It's elitist and deplorable.
@@mauriceortiz8817 yeah but we don’t know what it’s like to be them I wouldn’t want to be stared at constantly up by strangers. It does sound rude though I understand
Some of us have autism and eye contact makes us so profoundly uncomfortable that we can’t focus on anything.
@@millsykooksy4863 what a terrible hardship they endure. Please
Bravo 💙🥈
My protector couldn’t protect my umbrella :-( 👓
I can't stand The View but I had to watch Al's interview
We need a new Mount Rushmore for American Treasures: Weird Al, Dave Grohl and Dolly Parton! Build it… We will come!
is Sunny changing her voice ?
Easily the best film I saw since borat.
Prince is cunning. He wasn't going to let anyone taint his music that way. Make your own song. He wasn't playing with music he didn't own. No Way. Michael Jackson was different. He saw the humor and had fun with it. But, what Michael really thought. You will never know!
For a lot of people who aren’t greedy or power hungry, you’d think we could get ahold of this situation
It’s the modern spinal tap. A parody of the rock and roll biopics that have been a cash cow for the box offices.
Prince was a humorless snob.
And it was brown M&MS
GOOD MORNING! NOVEMBER 9th watching the view morning after voting and the channel went OUT! WTF!
Came back on and went OUT again!🤔🤔🤔
I feel like it’s kind of dumb to ask about “ooh what if Madonna reaches out” he probably won’t be too starstruck since she ASKED HIM to do like a surgeon. Also it’s cringe how they bring up prince as if they just broke this crazy story. Do the research, that’s probably the MOST TOLD story he has. He’s answered that question a million times, it’s always prince, it’s embarrassing to pretend this is new news.
They like my pretend code JOY…JO…J…O…Y…OY…JOY
I'm glad he didn't take up the eukale.
They acted like she cared her name was mispronounced
Yes ..he's weird!
Oh no… the view got to weird Al

No brown M&M's , come on fellow Lynwood homeboy get the facts straight.
Did Sonny just confess to voters fraud haha.
When are we going to get Weird Al on SNL?!?!?!?!?!
I think he would been asked by now. They go for new acts to seem more hip than they really are example Ashlee Simpson
First
Seriously?! Lol
@@agentorange81 hahaha nice name
You can tell Sunny has a M I S E R A B L E home life. She's always looking for a time to be confrontational. (As shown with her interaction with Alyssa) I see it in her eyes. She "doesn't" read msgs tho. ☺️ So I'm sure this won't offend her. She's my least favorite on the panel. 😝
