Spare yourself worrying about Israel, James. I've been watching their conduct since 1970 and their actions today are simply an intensification of that conduct. A country that has a nuclear deterrent and the US Fifth fleet on call is not existentially threatened. A people who have experienced centuries of pograms and humiliation themselves, should not visit the same on others. This state has become a pariah state. BTW when you talk about 7th October, as a balanced journalist, please talk about the Sabra and Shatilia massacres in 1982 instigated by Israel.
Sabra and Shatila was my very first thought after Oct 7th. I’ve been saying this online too. The world doesn’t know about this and the role of Ariel Sharon in the massacre. Thank you for educating others about this.

Israel has always been the victim. Not just once. Munic Olympic, Yom Kippur, 6-Day War, Enttebe and the list goes on, with very little help from anyone. They didn't ask for Gaza, they were attacked and as a final act of protection seized the land. Gaza has been offered back to Egypt more than once since their peace treaty but Eygpt wants nothing to do with Hamas. Had the Jews wanted, they could have cleared Gaza and repopulated it with Israelis. They didn't. They took up where Egypt left off and provided energy, water and medication. How many times must the Jews turn the other cheek? If Canada had invaded the USA once and killed their kids, Americans would be screaming for the total destruction of their neighbour. Explain to me how they are the villains.

He and his guys made *very* sure the Israeli population sees Palestinians as less than human and nothing but a hostile threat, through endless propaganda and misinformation. At the end of the day "the people" only want this because it's in Netanyahu's interest and he made sure to force-feed them the narrative he needed to, *using* Hamas. That's why he literally said he *needs* Hamas in the past, you can look it up. I can't vouch for all his content but Johnny Harris has an excellent video on this subject, should be pretty easy to find.

The German people were judged pretty harshly, and most didn't know about the death camps. Most Israeli people not only know, but don't think they are using enough military force. I think it will be a very long time before any Israeli travels the world with a star of David patch on their luggage or jacket.

My dad and I were praying and cheering the Israelis who were surrounded by all Middle East countries in 1965 Arab Israeli war. Came to England soon after and year by year recognised that my love and affection towards Israel were misplaced. It is zero now.

Yeah. I always find this statement ahistorical. John Gray explains genocides are as normal as art or prayer meaning that it is a pan human phenomenon. The only difference was the horror of the efficiency of industrialization applied.

Beyond the vicissitudes of any small state in the ancient world, anti-Semitism as such doesn't appear to have come into the picture until Christianity (originally a Jewish sect) became a state religion.
Why blame Egypt at all? Egypt have accepted more refugees from Sudan, Syria, and Iraq than you can possibly imagine over the past decade. Why should Egypt capitulate to Israel and give them free reign to destroy the people of Gaza?

Even though James caveated this in his intro. Imagine for a moment listening to this and being Palestinian. Imagine for one moment having your precious children blown to bits. To talk about this whilst Palestinians are still being murdered. Shows me only the indifference people have with the perceived other. How is this going to affect Israel? This is nothing but veiled appeasement. It’s disgusting and cowardly. Mark my words, regrettably not just Israelis, but the whole Jewish community at large will pay immeasurably for this. Also please remember 7th October did not happen in a vacuum, Israel is an occupying force, -and a brutal occupier at that.

Very well said. 👍. An entire nation, being avenged for nearing five months, on a daily basis, for that one day in October, and with no sign of abating, is just too much to take in. I feel really sorry for the people who haven't really considered the Israel/Palestine situation from the Palestinian side until recently since it is shocking to see the reality. Tantura and The Lab (2013) are two documentaries that show that Israel has never really been anything other than it is now. It truly heartbreaking to see a people who have been so oppressed over the centuries create a country like this.
In truth I think those who criticise Israel and support Palestinians actually care more about Israelis and Jewish people across the world than those who blindly support Israel.
I cannot understand how can this continue in this day and age. I fear for the region and of the eventual blowback towards countries supporting this. This will cause irrepairable damage.

I think there is something really important that needs to be discussed, ever since the beggining of the all of this i've been hearing that Isarel has the right to deffend itself. Which is technically not true, how can an occupying power defend itself??
1. an occupation is already on the offensive thus it cannot be on the offense and defence at the same time.
2. Under International Law when you are being occupied you have the right to resist and fight back ( deffend yourself), so why haven't we heard a single time that Palestenians have the right to defend their territory, rights, and existence.
3. Israel is defending itself from whom? is it palestenians (if so why?) is it Hamas ( Why is hamas attacking in the first place)
the point here is that there is a reason for the 7th Octobre attack (i'm not deffedning the killing of innocent civilans) but if you put youself in the palestinans shoes and what they've suffered for the past 75 years and no one in the world is looking at you and what you are suffering from daily what would you do? when you try to find solutions and sign accords only to be broken by Isarel without any consequences what would you do?
And on top of it all the Palestinians are demonised by western politicians and media

The fact that smoke seems to come towards you no matter where you're standing near a fire is an actual phenomenon and can be explained by physics. The air around a fire is heated, and therefore will rise. It rises both because it is less dense as well as the fact that the cooler air is rushing in to replace it which "pushes" it up. This means that air is coming in from all directions and with all things being equal, the smoke will go straight up. When you stand near a fire, you effectively stop all things from being equal by blocking some of the air currents . This means that air currents are moving in from all the directions which you are not standing, but are not moving towards the fire from the area where you are standing. This means that the air coming in from directly across from you has no currents balancing it out and pushing it up, so the smoke will be blown into your face. Wherever you stand, you will be blocking air currents from getting to the fire which will cause the air currents from the area directly opposite from you to carry the smoke into your face.

Was not the Hamas action in their attack, just to get this international response they are ,knowing full well what Israel’s response would be to their attack to the people of Gaza,perhaps the notion should be how will Hamas be judged
