  • In this video we will be working on a highly recommended boot brand Tecovas Boots. A great boot at a great price with a fallowing already starting to build.
    For this pair of Tecovas Boots the customer had requested to have JR Leather Soles with a red sole finish, there was some damage to the leather so we had to give these boots a Swedish Bath to remove damage and dirt in the leather after all the work we did some leather scuff repair and finished these boots off with Saphir to restore the color of leather and give these boots a slight shine.
    Also we will basically be doing a Boot review on these as well with the breakdown

    Lemon pegs will expand with the leather when they get wet, thats the point. Metal pegs will tend to come out of the sole when the leathers gets wet and expands and the metal doesn’t expand with them and they don’t stay tight in the sole. Every pair of boots I’ve owned with metal pegs always end up forcing themselves out. Every pair of boots I’ve had with lemon pegs have always stayed in and I’ve never had an issue.

      IKR? What cobbler doesn't know why they use lemon wood for the pegs?

      If lemon wood pegs are so inferior to nails, I wonder why high end boot makers use lemon wood pegs. Hmm!🤔

      Jerry-rig tip: Coating the nails in a waterproof adhesive can help a little with that. Wood pegs rot with moisture over time and end up falling out anyways. So it evens itself out. But then again, if you’re putting your leather soles in water in the first place, you’re doing it all wrong.

    I have a pair of Tacovas Caiman belly boots that seem very nice. If needed I would consider having them rebuilt. However if I’m not mistaken the boots in this video are some of the least expensive Tecovas boots. And they are not in that great of shape to begin with especially with that slice cut in the leather. I guess they are already broken in and must be comfortable but I think I would just buy a new pair

    Charles H, US ARMY, Retired March 6, 2022 I've been researching and buying western boots since last Dec. I now own 4 pairs of RUJOs, 2 -TECOVAS and 1- Dan Post. The RUJO Exotics and TECOVAS Python & Bison are excellent and the DAN POST is OK. Now I come to CISOS Cowboy Boots, considered by many professional reviewers, to be the BEST COWBOW boots on the market, bar none!. After watching several videos, I'm convinced the reviewers are RIGHT! I'm ordering the CISOS #2, in Brown Square Toe!

    I bit the bullet and purchased my 1st. pr. of cowboy boots: Tecovas (The Wyatt Pecan full quill Ostrich boots) I thought I would give them a try and I went to a casino all you can eat sea food buffet and dribble hot butter on the left boot (4 pretty large spots)the spots look black on the boots. Didn’t notice this until I got home. I’m very disgusted with myself! Is there a way to get those spots off without ruining the full Ostrich boots??? Note: I did buy some Boot Barn Exotic leather cleaner & conditioner months ago, I've never used any cleaner/conditioner before and don't want to ruin my new boots. You seem to know a lot about cowboy boots. I need you thoughts. Thanks

    Not to nitpick, but since you say it so often in this video, it is 'Tecovas,' rather than 'Tecova.' Unless the 's' is silent, in which case I stand corrected ... ( But I notice that you have also written the name as 'Tecova' ) ... But results are the main thing, and these ended up looking just great !

    On a Tacova boot can you reshape the heel when you’re putting it back together or even if it were brand new to give it more of an underslung cowboy look? Awesome, they look new…..

    Great video nice work with those boots what do you think about cody james leather sole boots are they made well also do you think a boot dryer are good for leather boots

    • @CobblersPlus
      @CobblersPlus  Před 3 lety +1

      Unfortunately the CJ soles aren’t that great. They are a urine treated leather. A dryer for boots I would only recommend if you wash boots like we do or if they are a performance boot like sky, snowboard or logger boots. Regular wear just use boot trees and switch between pairs so you don’t wear the same pair multiple days in a row

    On average, how much to resoleing cost?

  • @Burritosarebetterthantacos

    Im sure cobblers love Tecovas because they are pretty cheaply made. I wasn't sure until I bought them myself and compared to my Blackjack boots. It also took me about 8 times getting boots, trying them , driving to UPS, waiting a week for an exchange, to find a pair that weren't messed up. Id say hard pass...your time is worth a couple hundred more. In the case of black jack about $100 difference.
