My favorite part of the movie was the metaphorical descent into Shadow that John took after he consciously decided to achieve catharsis by exacting his revenge. The opening of the basement door, the hammer on the concrete and the deeply buried secret under the foundation of the new life he had built. This movie was crafted, not made.

His weapon training actually began way back when he did "Point Break" back in 1991. So by now he's not just a pro, he is a master. Very high level proficiency in real life. He's a beast. Albeit, a wholesome, and good-natured loving soul in real life, thankfully. But John Wick...is a brooding, seething creature of some lost abyss! ( :E

Exactly! I believe that Keanu has a black belt. He did @ least 90% of his own stunts. There’s a video on CZcams, showing Keanu going through his paces on weaponry, you should check it out. He’s a natural. Lastly, the guy in the club that almost kicked John’s ass & got choked out when he was about to be terminated, is one of the best stuntmen in the business. Another stuntman that Keanu’s worked with for years also directed the film.

@@craiglortie8483 Yes I know that. But I'm saying he went through similar high intensity weapons training by seasoned professionals for his movie Point Break. When you say that he only began this type of training only shortly before John Wick gives people the wrong idea--that he's only had training recently. No. The truth is. He has been training for this kind of thing (firearms) for decades. For John Wick he's trained with a Navy Seal guy. So be sure to include a wider range of scope if you are mentioning training simply because the hardcore weapons and hand to hand combat training didn't just begin with John Wick. It began decades ago with other movies. And though he may have done some new stuff with these latest trainers. The overall types of training (hand to hand combat and firearms training) had already been ingrained long before then. ( :E

For those who are confused about the self knife stabling, it was smart for two reasons. One he was already stabbed there earlier buy the broken glass so he just used the same entry wound to minimize further harm and second he was able to get the knife from his opponent because you can't stab someone again if the knife stuck in them.

A fun little detail when Viggo is talking to his son; he gives him a glass of cheap vodka right before he punches him, because that stuff hurts like heck coming back up. After that, Viggo switches to a more expensive brand to drink himself. Another tiny thing is when Francis says he lost over sixty pounds, he was telling John how many men were in the building, which is why John let him go. That, and he didn't pose a threat.

I don't know this film at all so it will be good to see the full version on Patreon with you. I do like Keanu Reeves, he's a really good actor, I remember seeing him in a film called Speed which was from 1994 I think, real action, suspense, it was very good. I see there are a few sequels to this John Wick film so obviously a popular franchise. Another good action film, different from this of course is Commando (1985) starring Arnie Schwarzenegger. Arnie's character is a retired Special Forces soldier, lives with his daughter, his privacy gets disturbed, his daughter is kidnapped. Basically, it's a full-on action film as we've seen before with Arnie as he searches to find his daughter. Haven't seen it for a long time but I remember I really enjoyed it.Thanks for uploading to CZcams, George and for your reaction. Take care now. This for me is the best reeves film no fat perfect in my opinion and I love the way his backstory is hinted at and told through others memories with pure respect and fear by the normally evil and unstoppable bad guys sequels were good unlike the matrix but like the matrix I think this works better as a stand alone film it has no flaws perfect pacing action and humour

Please watch the John Wick movie 1 to 3 movie sequels in its entirety and not in snippets and edited form. It doesn't give these films any justice. You'll appreciate and enjoy watching when you follow my advice. Trust me.

Great action movie! Keanu knows his shit in real life too, he knows guns, which is why it looks so realistic. Is it bad that I feel more sorry for the puppy than I do for any of the people who were killed? :D

John Wick does the exact same jobs. Even worse, as the 2nd and 3rd movies show.

She killed that guy who was keeping an eye on her for Wick. He didn't deserve it. Then she became one of Viggos lackeys, and got Marcus killed. Everyone that Wick killed should have just left him alone. They deserved it for turning on him or letting the money get to their heads..

It shouldn't work... A movie of the thin and real fooking thin plot held together by action scenes... It goes against all movie rules... Imagine going into the studio execs office and saying I have movie. Some hitman has a dog killed and goes for revenge... They'd look at you after reading that quarter of a page laugh and kick you out...

There is no direct English equivalent of Babba Yaga. The idea of “The Boogeyman” is as close as it gets. They are both fables told to children to get them to behave.
