ACTUAL Professional ICON tools you can find at HARBOR FREIGHT PART 4
Icon tools locking flex head ratchet and bit set. Look now we all know these companies do their fair share of rebranding with harbor freight being no exception ya see, this set here is nearly identical to something from professional tool company Facom's line up.
Being released all the way back in 2016 the facom r180J31 was the first of it's kind to feature this low profile reversible flex head ratchet all neatly packaged with convenient bits tucked away in it's compact clamshell carrying case. But here we are years later and harbor freight has done it again and partnered directly with the manufacturer to bring us all essentially the same product with more pieces for a sub $50 price tag.
The Facom? Well the lowest price I could find it for is $83 plus shipping but here it's a mere $44.99 DAMN, you just gotta love professional tools at bargain basement prices.
Please be sure to like, comment, and subscribe for new content. Don't forget to hit that bell to be notified of all my newest releases!

I've been using bit ratchets for the last 15 years. I've gotten a couple great ratchets over this time. I have a Klutch I got at northern tool 10 years ago that's been my main everyday wrench. This Icon set is outstanding in comparison. It's quickly becoming my main set.
It needing a couple square bits in there is my ONLY complaint. Honestly, it's an insignificant complaint.
The bits are even really friggin good. Used them in a small electric impact drill. I've shattered bits in a day of lesser quality.

I LOVE mine. One of my many hats is 2 stroke engine work/repair and this set is unparallelled when it comes to chainsaws.
Also working on cars, electronics and "consumer products"
I still use a screwdriver handle style spinner a lot but this thing often initiates the job. And it fits where a lot of 1/4 inch drive ratchets just wont. Great for sensors on cars.
I'd buy a dedicated socket ratchet on this chassis with some thin wall sockets if it were HF available. Would nice to have one "socket only" so the socket doesn't pull the little socket adapter out. Bonus points if it has a little extension and a little universal joint.

@@luke8222 what tool company doesn’t honor their warranty? It might not be as easy, I know in my case gear wrench and Williams while a pain and it takes time honors their warranty. All the tool truck brands are just as easy as HF. In fact much easier in my experience on sets, and electronics.
Tekton the easiest for an online retailer but Capri wasn’t an issue in the past for me either. Napas carlisle brand is just as easy as HF. rigid, stanly, dewalt, etc etc etc. if a tool has a warranty I’ve used it before 😂. I’ve only not had a tool replaced twice. Sometimes yes more hoops to jump through.
I will say I’ve had HF not warranty individual wrenches that were bought as a set, this was one of the 2 times. HF outside of this though is rether easy to warranty tools. With the exception of anythjng electric, your SOL when they die, which isn’t the case for some brands selling the exact same tool HF sells.

@@luke8222 as far as warranties and customer service goes, nothing beats the tool truck. They replace individual items that were bought in a set, and even better if they’re out of stock, they will order the part for you. Not the case for HF. Electronics also have a real warranty on the tool trucks. Even stuff bought at Lowe’s and HD is just as easy to get replacement tools as HF in my experience, not that I’ve done it a lot, and it’s been 5 yewrs so maybe this isn’t the case anymore at the box stores?

@@MiguelGarcia-vj7oo that’s true for most brick and mortar tool stores…craftsman and sears were just big corporations. Local ma and pa hardware store have been doing the same forever 😂 . I’ve warrantied tools at Lowe’s before too.
This all still requires more time and effort then a tool truck or online businesses that require an email for warranties. Tekton, Capri, etc come to mind. There are so many tool companies these days I don’t understand the love for HF. They’re rarely the cheapest for the exact same tool after all. As I stated in my orginal post they don’t make a single thing at HF. It’s Chinese and Taiwanese manufacturers who make 99% of the stuff they sell. The same manufacturers most other inexpensive tool companies uses too…

I handle the majority of my stores warranties, even on cheaper tools more often than not broken tools are the result of misuse rather than a defect. When looking at the top lines like ICON and Hercules a warranty being the result of defect or poor quality is 1 in 1,000. I've had people bitch to me about not being able to use a 1/4" to bust off lug nuts or about an air tool rated for 90 PSI no longer working when they admit they don't use any pressure regulator ie. they're using 150-175 PSI. My personal favorite is when they just never bothered to read the manual, trying to load the wrong size staples, connecting a 12 volt charger backward, not using the release lever to change heads on an OMT. At least once a day I'll "fix" a tool for a customer and show them how to use it, they'll get red from a mix of embarrassment and frustration, and then a week later tell me the tool is perfect. I'll help people figure out tools all day, nobody is born knowing everything about tools and I enjoy doing it, but don't tell me I'm part of a Chinese conspiracy to destroy America and that I should be ashamed of the products I sell. It's eye-opening to see how many "professionals" aren't. I try to do most of my work myself now instead of contractors and shops.

Not since Home Depot came along and (regrettably) knocked all the old mom n pop shops out of the market, have we seen such a buyer/price friendly revolution. And that Home Depot era was 40 years ago! No the VIM RBF400K is longer, and wasn't offered until about 2 years ago.
The non flex head HI-FIVE bit ratchet has been around significantly longer though , that would be the one you bought in 2010.

      This is made by HI-FIVE.
It's also made for USAG, was made for Blackhawk, and MAC offers the ratchet all by itself for $60.
Beyond S-B&D owned brands it's offered by TOPTUL, a longer version is offered by VIM, by WURTH, KS TOOL, and by a brand called RUJOI.
They also make the WERA, GM POWERTORQUE, 711L, and loads of bicycle tool brands offer variants or different bit ratchets with the mechanism.

Are there no Taiwan clones online for even less at the same quality? Also what’s your thoughts on those socket starter sets people buy every Christmas. How is there not something with none of the extra crap for a solid price all sockets and wrenches etc no fluff or Allen keys give be hex sockets instead

    • @madjackgamingandfitness498
      @madjackgamingandfitness498 Před 3 měsíci

I wouldn’t buy any clone. Buy the icon. I use the set daily. And about after 6 months, the pass through head wears out and bits slide through. You buy the icon for the warranty. No questions asked I’m on my second one, getting a 3rd soon.

@@madjackgamingandfitness498 I was like wtf is is point until you made the warranty comment. They actually makes sense. This is a rare case where the warranty may well be worth any premium it costs over a from a hypothetical identical $50 set from tekton
