Thank you. I have used a competitor of yours--I believe--and they are very nice but they are far less organized and thorough than you. I appreciate it. I may be calling you.

how can errors occur in preparing soil reports?

Sand is a grain size reference (e.g. sand, pebble, cobble) and not a mineral or soil composition. It's best to reference mineral type. Most people equate sand with quart and thus it does not have as much any bound water capabilities as phyosilicates (shale). This may be a little nit picky but it's important when referencing water retention of the of the "soil" types.

How can I send soil samples from India?

There's soil testing labs in most countries. Do an internet search for them and make a lot of phone calls and ask lots of questions and ask what they offer.

    I have a question!
So you use the percent of Organic Matter in the soil to determine how much Nitrogen you'll apply?
So if the if the soil has %4.0 OM, so 40lb of Nitrogen should be applied???

No. First find out what are the needs of the plants you want to cultivate. Let's say you want to cultivate something that needs 100lbs of nitrogen during its life. Next find out how much N you already have in your soil. I believe you take the PPM number and multiply by 2 to find the numbers of lbs present in the soil per acre. Let's assume that number is 40lbs. Then just do the math. 100 - 40 means you need to apply 60lbs.

@@losclaveles NO THAT IS NOT CORRECT. First, do an amino sugar test. The reading will be approximately 70% of what the report is telling you. But, we use way too much N all over the world. Balance the soil, get it working, (you can get a Haney test to read) and go accordingly. Too many folks are applying synthetic fertilizers and they THINK they are doing things right. That's all most know how to do! I am here to tell ya that that is NOT true any more. It is time to stop nitrates from leaching into the soil. and that stops when we balance the soil food web!

Most soil tests should have a CEC or TEC these days. If not, then you need to find a better lab test.
