  • A detailed look at a rare Lionel display catalog from 1949. These would have been sent only to dealers and provided an opportunity to purchase sales displays that would help sell trains. Displays such as the D10 Kodachromes display and the GG1 4 foot by 7 foot Poster were available. These displays are very desirable and hard to find as well, making them collector favorites. Enjoy.

Yeah, this is one of the most interesting of collectables related to Lionel trains. The were very limited in production, but add so much to their history. Love sharing with everyone! Thanks. Brian

Thanks for sharing another look into Lionel's display catalog. Really interesting to see what they offered to dealers. Would be great if we could buy things at those prices again!

Yes, I totally sent in my order, but have yet to receive my packages/crate!! Such cool stuff! Thanks. Picked up a few other fantastic Dealer display catalogs at York, so more on the way over the next year. Brian

Thanks. While my Dad made sure we had Lionel trains (3 rail or not, he thought they were the best), we had Erector sets from the Gilbert Hall of Science for the construction part. I just recently purchased a partial Lionel Construction set. I think it interesting that in those days (40's and 50's) there was a real effort to teach kids how things worked and were built. Education would be better if we returned to those days!

Yeah, the erector sets were still the standard for sure. The Lionel system was novel with the realistic "Steel" girders for construction use, but they were hard to manipulate and once bent, unusable. B

Does any of those train displays exist today? That 12' long sign with the turning pylons is really cool. I can't imagine what that would go for on eBay if one existed. The color of the front cover is coming over as orange on my monitor. You said red. Is it orange or red? I thought the Lionel colors were orange and blue.

Great Questions. First, I have some feelers out for the 12 foot three phase display. If it's out there I will do everything I can to film it and share it with everyone!! Secondly, yes for some reason my camera does tend to autocorrect some colors when I film paperwork. The cover is RED as shown on the CZcams tile, It does look a little orange. If the display is out there, I want to find it!! B

I was really hoping this catalog would solve the mystery of the display layout that’s been in my family since I was a little kid. It appears to be a variation of the No 10. But the layout is slightly smaller (no switches) and has only 3 shelves instead of 4. I have never seen another like it ever. Was hoping maybe that variation was mentioned in the catalog. The mystery continues. Loved the video.

Sounds intriguing , There are a number of mysteries abound Lionel trains and it may be one of those that needs solving. Would love to see what you got. Brianstrainroom@gmail.com if you got photos. Thanks. Brian
