I thought that it would be hard for the Philippines to drive away the colonists with their advanced firepower but I then remembered that Vietnam successfully fought off the Americans during the Vietnam War and the Philippines could probably fight the colonists similarly.
It's the 1800 hundreds and there isn't a world War 1 or ww2 yet which massively exhausted the the colonial powers resources and with no Japanese invasion of the South East Asian colonies yet, so there isn't an example of an asian power, being able to defeat an European power ( except the Russo-japanese war) and also when Japan Conquered South East Asia they gave local government positions of locals which gave rise to an pretext that maybe that they can rule there own state. And also Vietnam had crucial support from the soviets and
One of the majors reasons why the us lost the war in Vietnam was that their were afraid that if they invaded north vietnam the Chinese might intervene in the war just like in the Korean War and it'll be just a repeat of the korean war. And also with the simple fact that the European powers were just powerful during this time, maybe the Dutch might lose in Indonesia but the British certainty won't accept just losing Maylesia and this also is assuming that the British won't hold a conference with Dutch and Spanish on how to deal with the rebels.
TLDR: the circumstances are very different from the Vietnam War and there probably is no great or major power that is willing to support the rebels.
