Katie: I wouldn’t recommend doing this before class
Me : (doing it before class) 👁👄👁
Exercises start at 6:01 or 7:30 and Stretches at 16:04.
sometimes it's best to listen to what is said in order to understand the exercises it could save you time which you're trying to save by not watching it in the long run
The FULL ENERGY CHANNEL The timestamps are for people that are rewatching and have already memorised / implemented the tips 🙃 I've done the video over ten times total and I also skip depending on workouts or barre classes I've done before on the day.
Alright I understand now, you must have made a lot of progress then how's it coming along as you split improved
thank you so muchhhhhh
EllieElfin o
I have done this everyday for a little over a month and it has helped SO MUCH
Could you tell a difference in your 5th?
hi! *please* answer my question: did it improve turn-out/rotation in your releve? I REALLY need help with that and want to know if this video helps
@@jdutka13 I know I'm not the one you were asking, but I've done these exercises for a while now and it definitely helps in releve! but having the correct foot placement definitely helps with that too!
@@kaitlynshen8798 thanks!
How much? I desperately need help
I’m a karate black belt and have been on an almost decade long journey towards greater flexibility, mobility and form. I’ve always felt like dancers knew something we don’t. I think these will help me tremendously so thank you!
If you’re like me and you repeat this work out a lot (or daily) here’s a handy timestamp: 6:34 is after the intro if you’ve already watched it a few times and just want to start into the exercise and follow along :)
Thank you for making these, they’re helping me train up my strength between injuries when I have to take weeks off from class. I’m laser removing a tattoo so I have to take 3 weeks off at a time sometimes because my foot is so injured and can’t point but this work out helps me keep a little turn out so I don’t feel completely exhausted and depleted when I finally go back! ❤️ I’m reconnecting with my love as an adult after some really hard life incidents forced me to walk away from professional dancing in my first year working and now at 21 I’m trying to build up strength to try to dance again after a couple years off intense training and it can feel so intimidating so having exercisss to do at home can be a way to get the foot back in the water so to say 😂
Two weeks ago, when I first started this exercise, I literally could not find the wrapping feeling. But now I can easily find it!
This helped me learn the difference between tucking and jamming. In my studio our teacher says to tuck our booty under and I was always overdoing it to the point of it not being sustainable, now I’m “tucking” properly. She says tuck to get us to engage our muscles not jam
my lockdown goal is too get half decent turnout and I’ve been doing this and seeing progress!
I’ve been doing this for 5 days straight now and I’m feeling much stronger
I just left comments on some videos about turnout lol. Thank you Katie for being honest about not being born with a flat turnout. You gave me hope girl!! Love you! !
Of course! Definitely not a natural turnout girl haha
you gave me hope too🙃
i dont have either and i feel really bad about it that it is the only thing why i cant be a ballerina but seeing you being comfortable about it and knowing that you are a soloist really makes me less alone and gives me hope that maybe my i can make success
I'm not a dancer but I'm hypermobile and have been having trouble with glute weakness and unstable hips, and this helped so much, especially the exercise before the rond de jambe, i hadn't felt that kind of activation from any other exercises
Your explanations are so thorough. What you said about the turnout, my 1st teacher said: heart shape buttock and "spiraling" the muscles, but your explanation is more accurate. NO JAMMING. This is a perfect complement between classes.
Thank you!
Thank you for all the great exercises! As someone who tore an ACL after years of forcing turnout...I want to say yes, yes, yes to using the correct muscles and working with good placement.
I’ve done this exact video for a few week and my improvement has gotten so much better it’s insane.
MY TURNOUT HAS IMPROVED SO MUCH THANK YOU KATIE ❤️❤️❤️🩰🩰🩰🩰🩰❤️❤️❤️ i have been struggling with my turnout for years then I found this and I have been doing it everyday and it works so well! Thank you so much Katie! ❤️🩰🩰🩰🩰🩰❤️
I was thinking of doing barre and found this on accident. And it's a good thing I found this! I thought you had to jam your feet together. Thanks for saving my knees. ❤
So happy to see more technique videos!
This was published on my birthday! Such a wonderful birthday treat. Thank you for continuing to share your knowledge -- always in awe of you! X
I’ve been doing ballet since I was 3 and you are the best ballet you tuber out there!! Your tips really help!
Best video editing! Exactly what I need.
I just realized all the mistakes I was making without even realizing it, super informative video! It also gave me a whole bunch of cues I never would have picked up on based on sight alone.
Thank you Kathryn--these exercises are perfect for my daily stretching routines--luv it!!
I think this was the first ever video that I did with kathryn and now I have watched so many of her other videos I love them all and find them so helpful!!!!!! I also just got on point and can't wait to take some of her bigginer point classes! Your videos are amazing and have helped me so much so, thank you, thank you, thank you, you are AMAZING!!!!!
Thank you so much for making these video's, you're amazing!
Love this vid! Great timing as I recently went to a PT who told me I needed to strengthen my glutes and the exercises he gave me were all working the deep turnout muscles.
Thank you for this, Katie! I have a really hard time with my turnout. I used to be very pigeon-toed for most my life and probably anatomically just don't have good external rotation from my hips. I work really hard to try and strengthen and use what I have and ballet has helped me a ton, even if it's very frustrating to have limited turnout
I love the respect which floats from your words toward your own body Katie. And that you are saying it and sharing with us. Thank you!
And great workout also.
Hi Katie, thanks so much for all your videos, I found you during my recovery from a complex tibial plateau fracture from a bike accident and have used your videos and found inspiration during my recovery. As a former child ballet student, and a thyroid cancer survivor, I can relate to your story and again thank you for putting this wonderful content our for us.
I have been doing this for some times, almost everyday, and OH my! It’s really improving! Thank You so much Kathryn! ♥️
Kathryn - you are the BEST! Thank you so much for these informative, high quality videos :)
EXCELLENT! Love the teaching! These are so extremely important points of anatomy/movement that you very specifically covered in detail--do's & don'ts and why. I also love the education on strengthening and then lengthening, in what order and why. Thank you Katie!!!!
Thank you so much for this video Kathryn!! I 've been doing these exercises for the past two weeks and my turnout has improved so much! I can't believe it! You are amazing

Happy I've found this video. I'll definitely do these stretches everyday. Thanks for sharing!
Omg I have to come here and leave a comment to say thank you!! I have done this for 2 weeks now. Today for the first time ever, I could actually feel my legs properly turning out in ballet class! Omg!!! I started learning ballet a year ago and could never find the proper turn out!! Omg!!!! I was jamming my knees so much to the point I started feeling discomfort. This video is so critical!!
This is so helpful thank you so much! I’m 21 have been dancing since I was 3 and have never been given exercises for turnout before. This is going to help me so much!
Great video, Katie! Thanks

Katie, this is great. Thank you for sharing this. I will be sharing this video with my students.
I love this video. And Katie gives such fantastic explanations and examples. Great pinpointing exercises. Thank you so so much.
You are a genius at explaining the correct sensation. I've gained so much from listening to you. ❤️
THANK YOU!!! I went to a ballet studio for many years that valued flexibility far over strength, my turnout was horrid for years and years and I didn’t find out until looking it up to find out why I couldn’t hold myself in a position for too long. I have done this among other exercises for a few weeks and it’s already doing wonders. Thank you Kathryn Morgan, I swear you are a turnout goddess
Just started over at 60 years old. What You said about not forcing turnout but work with the turnout we have is the most useful and likely the most important advice to keep in mind. I believe it is the key to progress. Much love and many thanks
Oooh this is exactly what I need. Thank you !
Thank you for these tips I'm self tought and this helps me so much❤️❤️
Thank you for the great tips and turnout exercises. I am over 50 yrs old and started ballet classes at the age of 42. I've always enjoyed dancing and I love the challenge and grace of ballet.

First time watching. This is great, thanks so much!
I love it Kathy. I cannot open Rt side of hip as much as left one. I believe that it will be corrected over constant practice!
This is so good! Really well explained.
You are an excellent teacher.
I've been learning ice skating for the past 8 months or so and these exercises to strengthen very specific muscles for turnout, and the tips for arabesque, are so helpful. I love your workout videos for that focus on building the strength to reach your goal, the balance between strengthening and stretching to build and maintain flexibility. Really glad I found this channel!
💜 thank you Katie. You looks great. I enjoy your video very much of all these helps. 💎

This is the video I have been needing. I was doing a lot of jamming and wondering why my turnout was not improving. Thank you Katie!
OMG :) Really good!! Thanks a lot for the exercises and also for your tips !!!
Thank-you Kathryn!
This is so great to do to make sure I work the turnout muscles while I’m recovering from an ankle sprain and can’t go to class, thank you Katie ❤
Love the approach to this.
👍
Wow you make these moves look so easy! :) I'm just starting to learn Irish dance (week 2!) and my turnout is horrible. I went into these exercises and stretches thinking they'd be easy because you do them with such ease, but I could barely get through the full count of each exercise lol. Looks like I have work to do!
this is just amazing
I don't even know how I got to this video but I tried the exercises and I had fun. I am not a dancer and don't even know what you are saying but I am trying and I love it!
Thanks Kathryn!
I am 9 years old and in Ballet 5, and these are good exercises to help me stay fit.
Thank you so much! I am an adult new to ballet and I am so excited to build more strength and flexibility!
Absolutely love your channel! Could you do a video for pas de deux and how to properly hold yourself and just general advice/tips for the female dancer (just had my first pas de deux lesson and I feel like I need a lot of advice) 😉
This is perfect timing, I have been needing these exercises so much, my right so is ok but my left doesn't have as good of turnout!
Great! Hope this video helps you!
I started ballet 8 years ago now I'm 16 and trying to get back into it, you've helped me so much. Thank you so flippin much!
