I had a buddy who was mining it back in 2012...
He was a CS major with me and used to help me crank out my homework in no time, but then wouldn't do his. I asked why and his response was "it doesn't matter, I'm spending my time and efforts mining." He ended up with an almost 1k electric bill that he couldn't afford and took out a loan to pay it.
Well he now owns his own jet and a couple prop planes, got his pilot licenses, and travels the world all the time for fun. Needless to say he's filthy rich.

I learned of btc 2010 i think, it was under a dollar then it was 8 dollars not long after, i think around 2011..i never bought. i was trying to get my dad involved bc he was the computer guy and i didnt know shite.. He said it was bullcrap and i never got in. Then 2016 i got in, didnt take it seriously and made the gains then lost it all when prices went all the way back down in 2018.. Now i have bought the books, read the white paper and believe in it and dont plan on selling. everything is to buy more and hold firmly on to by putting on cold hardware wallets -NOT Ledgers, i still have new ledgers in the plastic that i will never use bc they are a centralized fake cold wallet. that actually splits ledgers in to 3 shards and one they dont say who they are. This is a problem bc if you have a bad day or year and owe the government will b able to tell ledger hand it over.. Ledger made their money from people like me and then fukd us.
im Over it now, really but dont fall for them.. Jade is great wallet and cheap and the zero is great expensive tho
