My cats won't allow me or anyone to pick them up. They go into fight or flight mode if you even try to pin them down. They don't even like being brushed. If I put my finger in their mouths, they bite down hard. They were literally born in a barn & still somewhat feral. Never managed to successfully get them into a cat carrier for a vet visit either.
You can try using toys (string’s amazing) & food to get them comfortable with being on your lap or getting touched. W/ feral cats it takes months, sometimes years of love, patience, & respect before they learn to trust. Some never do, and that’s okay, as long as they have a good home! Best to you & them 🐈🐈⬛🙂
Try phermones! You can get a spray for their blankets to lay on, plug ins for outlets in your house so there's constant exposure, or even collars for somewhere in between. They've been a life saver for our formally feral kitties getting comfortable with their new owners and with each other, as well as treating general anxiety. Feliway is the vet recommended brand but there's knockoffs that seem to work fine if cost is an issue. Good luck! ☺️
I got one like that. 80% feral. We planned on keeping him indoors when we got him but OH did he object, loudly and frequently ! Going out the front door was a battle of wits and speed. We finally got him his own cat door and just let him run out at will. That was 15 years ago.... Now he's old and having some trouble with eating so I'm getting enzymes antiseptic gel clean his teeth and gums..... I guess we'll see who's toughest.
first do what told above and use tooth paste twice a day..next visit vet..but please n please do whats told in the video + tooth paste...next change his diet
Desperate for a solution. Recently my cat gave me a terrible bite, I had to get a tetanus shot. (He escaped and got in a terrible fight with a tomcat on our porch and I tried breaking up the fight, getting bitten). I'm quite leery to go near his teeth!
So sorry that happened to you! My cat once did the same when I tried to ‘save’ her from being stuck hanging by the legs from the back of a rocking chair (extremely weird scenario, but true). It hurts!! I’m guessing if you don’t feel safe, it’s just fine to bring your cat to the vet and eventually, when needed have vet clean the teeth. Take care of yourself! ❤
He does have a point. There are some Hispanics 2 houses away from me with 2 Mercedes in driveway. But then again they do have like 15 people living in that house. LoL.
I just got slapped by my cat
You went for the wrong area! Jk.

Dr Bob is so calm. Wish my cat like that. I need to start the training my 9-month-old kitty ASAP. Thank you for providing this video.

That's interesting to use gauze instead of a finger toothbrush! I'll try this method too 😺
DO NOT use human toothpaste. Use only specific pet toothpaste

What's the toothpastes to use on cat?

What about the back of the mouth and stuff?
How to clean the back part of my cat teeth, it is tricky and I'm scared he might bit me.
Same problem 😢
One video vet that I saw said only the front of the teeth matter. Good place to start, anyway!
If they have inflamed gums, doesn’t that hurt? 😢
Of course it would hurt You need a vet at that point.

Try wearing thick gloves that’s made with leather and padding when handling a situation like that.
Make sure to mention you do NOT use human toothpaste with cats, please :-)
Specify it’s CAT TOOTHPASTE
🦷 High Carbohydrates diet (especially dry cat food) can cause Dental problems ☹️
Uncooked bone can clean a cat's teeth 🦴☑️

This method does not apply to cats with inflammed gums. You are pressing too much.
Your nails should be clean and not wear nailpolish when sanitizing a cat's mouth. Or just wear some vet gloves.
