    I will tell you what did work, Get the Penguin Wi-fi USB device. They have been supporting that chip set for over 20 years and they will continue to support it. I purchased it, and it is truly plug and play.

Just plug in and it works, no crazy kernal rebuilds, no going out to the terminal to type in 14 different command lines to get information to apply just to fail again. Just get the Penguins USB be and be done with the wi-fi headaches for good.

    I try not to leave dislikes on too many videos, but this doesn't help me. As much Linux Mint, its driver manger is awful. If you aren't missing any drivers, it doesn't give you the option to install any. And having a crappy wifi driver that doesn't work doesn't qualify as not having a wifi driver, so the driver manager doesn't realize that I don't have a working wifi driver.
    I guess this is what I get for clicking on a tutrial that's less than 2 minutes long.

    I have the newest Linux Mint Vera, but this is not working, my Driver Manager says, you do not need a new driver, I use Dell with a Rolio USB adaptor

      check your wifi driver in the terminal
      $ ifconfig
      if this is showing in then install it using the driver manager
