I'm surprised they haven't implemented detection for this since it's measuring wheel torque. If they see the torque hasn't changed for a couple minutes they could still go through the normal inattentiveness routine. However, I wish they used capacitive detection instead, having to apply torque every 20-30 seconds isn't much better than just normal driving. I don't use AP too often.

They have a detection for this - but it’s not that effective. I drive 100 KM every day - mostly highways and I use AP all the time. I’ve used this device for over 140.000 km in my Tesla.
