inb4 a guy asks me to make a Modern fungus deck
do it. you won't
Number 15
Modern Viable Fungus Deck
Don't be a coward harry
But they are FUNgus
Make a Treefolk deck when the Lord of the Rings is out.
Ah yes when u succesfully shut down the combo in a combo deck but then they have 12 power on turn 3 because a land for sone reason
Yeah ursas Saga is so Trash why would you Print such a dumb "Land" and make It modern legal?
Every saturday i Play against an Hammer time deck at my local Playstore. I Play some Kind of controll or Discard deck. And whenever i am Happy that i disabled His Hammer Combo He Kills me nearly everytime late Game with one or two Ursas saga's and some cheap artifact!
This is so dumb and OP! Just one or two Lands can win on there own wow
@@franzvonhinten7558 lol skill issue
@@cuttlefish6839 perhaps, but I'd also say that it's a real issue in modern (much to my chagrin, since I thought the card was just okay upon reveal).
@@Atmapalazzo you can say what you want but an opinion is an opinion and just like you can say it's an issue, I can say that it's not an issue at all. We are now at an impass.
@@cuttlefish6839 not how that works. Its absolutely an issue. Just because you have a dumbshit opinion, doesn't make it equal to anyone elses.
Just wanted to express, love the channel. The proper post-game voice over commentary gives it a highly unique vibe and gives a lot of insight into why plays get made or the mechanics of more esoteric combos. I appreciate you.
Using surge node on chalice was actually such a gigabrain move.
That’s literally what it’s in the sideboard for. It doesn’t do anything else for the deck
@@UnuUO doesn't even pump wishclaw, lame
It was, but it was a Gigachad move to put in on 3 and lock the opponent out of further Archons
I love how Legacy games are either Turn 1 - 2 crazy combo kills, or Turn 12 'I bash you with mu 2/2' durdly wins
Scrappy legacy is my favorite legacy.
That's the problem with fast mana imo- you either have your fast mana early and do crazy stuff, or you topdeck all your fast mana late and you can't do anything lol
Well they are till you play against Force of Will decks and then it's really really slow.
The Yugioh experience.
Same way it was for the game as a whole between. 1993 and 1997...........
Hey man, would be real cool if you made a modern fungus tribal deck!
Pretty cool trick with surge node on the chalice. Learned something new!
This is Black saga storm by Toni. Give the man some credit! Also not a new deck. Variant of ANT and can easily turn 1 kill!!! Love this thing!
Yeah, was going to say like the content but the deck is not new!
Hey Harry, just wanted to say thanks for uploading this video. I never really looked at any legacy content before but after seeing this video, I went down the rabbit hole of various storm decks and am now having a blast playing it on MTGO! So thank you for essentially introducing me to a whole new way to enjoy Magic!
I've never seen your content, but this was fun to watch. Snappy and well-edited, and enough of an explanation that I could follow without having to watch every second of gameplay.
Keep it up.
Not gonna lie, i hardly play magic anymore or watch much content, the occasional magic video but whenever you upload i always jump on it Asap
Good stuff man, keep it up,
Favorite magic youtuber right now
Brilliant side boarding!! Nice work!
Love your vids and enthusiasm. Commentary energy is perfect
Love this deck. I went all in and ordered final 2 LEDs for it. Already had everything else. So good, straight mono black though. No burning wish for me. I'll keep experimenting w jank old-school cards nobody has ever thought about using. Really fun deck.
Modern fungus when?
The newest deck from 2010. Great production value video
5:10 how did they play a 3 cmc spell with just a plains in play, without any rocks?
Simian Spirit Guide
Super cool deck, and you do the videos so easy to whatch
Hey Harry, love your vids. Always interesting and informative. What's the music in the first part of this video? I really like it.
Surge Node is the most hilarious sideboard card I've ever seen 😂
I guess I know what my Legacy deck is going to be!
Mono Black Storm in Legacy :D
I've got
Mono Black Coffers for Modern
and
Mono Black Midrange for Pioneer
The only channel that I LIKE watching mtg play on.
Man. I still remember when *Lion's Eye* was a 50 cent junk rare.
Those were the days....
How do they play Arcon turn one after playing a chalice and plains? 5:16
I’m guessing he cast and sacked a black lotus that got cut from the video for time reasons? Or maybe 2 lotus petals / some other form of fast mana. Notice he keeps a 6 card hand but only has 1 at the end of the turn.
If you look closely you see 2 red mana appear floating before the Archon is cast. Meaning they pitched 2 SSG for the mana.
didn't u have revolt with bauble on their turn to kill archon on like T3?
Surge Node is the coolest piece of anti-Chalice tech I've ever seen.
how did he cast T1 archon?
I discard my entire hand to cast Ad Nauseum!!!!
Opponent: "Force of will"
Oops.
I love how that's the one game he didn't show because it just hard counters his entire deck.
this deck play 9-10 discard spell for a reason, so unless you have no choice you never combo on the blind.
This was awesome!!! I wonder how it does against Blue decks with counters.
I played an ancestor of this deck twenty years ago. You need cheap discard spells (duress at the time) to protect yourself from counters.
Great video as always, not much to be said that cant be, however, at some points you were stuck waiting to handle chalice on 0/1/2 with a burning wish in hand, why not get meltdown or something from the sideboard to deal?
Thanks harry!
As burning wish is a 1 of there are only combo pieces in the sideboard!
The Djinn on the Burning Wish is definitely grabbing that ladies bazoogas
Me: I want Meandeck tendrils
HarryMTG: We have meandeck tendrils at home
At home:
Day 17 of asking Harry to STORM Modern with a Fungus/Saprolings deck
I love ANT but how new is this deck?
ANT Storm has been a thing for a long time.
yeah, how is this new?
It hasn't been used in the mono black artifact shell.
vinatage fungus, pls
6:22 I would've put the charge counter on the chalice with 1 charge counter first so I can cast Fatal Push on the Archon
That's cool.
Damn, this deck is sick
5:12 how does the opponent get the mana for the archon Oo? there's a chalice and a plains and he just generates 3 mana without playing anything? how?
Nice
Soooo, who made the deck?
Dude 0:45 relax damn yo
For those saying it isn't new:
I originally named it Black Turbo ANT but the ANT community unanimously voted me down. Black Saga Storm was voted in. I try to leave naming to the community. Also...Sol Lands, Urza's Saga, 4x Mox Opal, 10 discard spells, 8x Baubles, 2x Chrome Mox, 0 Past in Flames.. 99% Mono Black...you might see why the ANT community didn't approve of the name. Deck is probly a little over a year old now.
on 5:24 the opponent gety an archon of emeria with1 land...am i missing something?
5:09 How did the opponent get the 2 red mana they used to help cast Archon of Emeria?
Simian Spirit Guide
I thought the same thing!! I was like wtf! I didn’t see it in the graveyard
Can you make 5 color sliver tron?
Black storm is a great addition to legacy.
I'm a simple man. I see a new vid released 2 hours ago, and I like and comment for the algorithm with no witty comment because I havent finished the video.
So what does this deck do against a control deck with countermagic? Hope to either thoughtseize on the turn of the combo (to make sure shields are down) or Urza's Saga win? That just seems like a bad matchup to me, someone who's never played Legacy and so doesn't really know what he's talking about
Counterspell decks usually don't have any stax pieces, so a couple of discard spells will usually do the trick. UR Delver used to be one of the easiest matchups for the storm decks.
@@KumanoMTG How many discard spells do you need to run maindeck for that to be a favorable trade? It seems like it'd be 8 at the lowest
@@sorin_markov You also have a bunch of tutors and other storm decks run cards like Veil of Summer, Silence or Defense Grid
You have 9 maindeck discards, a load of tutors and Urza's Saga.
generally in legacy countermagic doesn't beat combo but rather lockpieces or delver do. it varies a bit, some combo decks have good delver matchups and some have good prison matchups but most of them have good control matchups(some exceptions, storm decks aren't that good vs blue zenith because of consistent access to collector ouphe and - to a lesser extent - leovold). all combo decks are built with force of will in mind, this deck for example has a billion discard spells and urza's saga, show and tell variants have access to their own forces and any combination of daze/veil of summer/pyroblast/flusterstorm/boseiju who shelters all/defense grid in the main or side, doomsday has discard spells and counter magic of their own, etc
Can we get a Magda brazen out law deck
hey harry, great deck. although when you said "lets look at a turn one kill" and proceeded to pass the turn, i was a bit confused. i feel like if you're going to announce a turn 1 kill. it should probably be in the same game as you're playing, and not the next round.
5:13 where is the opponent getting the mana to cast Archon of Emeria?
At 5:10, how does the opponent play an Archon of Emeria off of a single basic plains?
Also trying to figure that out
Simian spirit guide
my favorite win in modern is infect :)
Craw craw
how did the opponent play Archon of Emeria on turn 1 with only a plains? Doesn't it cost 3 mana?
Simian spirit guide
So how is this new ad has been in legecy since its first printing
wait, at 5:15, how did the opponent play an archon with only one land in play on turn 1?!
yeah what???
Probably 2 simian spirit guide exiles. They add 2 red before tapping the plains for a white and casting archon
As a yugioh player it’s kinda funny to see this being considered a really fast deck, when in yugioh it would be considered extremely slow
Is this actually a new deck?
Why not take this to vintage?
5:14 how did they cast Archon of Emeria with one mana??
2 simian spirit guides
7:27 missed the tutor chain
Cool video but how exactly is this a new deck? Pretty sure this exact strategy has been tier for several years
We did it guys!!!! We finally broke Ad Nauseum!
Just out of curiosity: You always say that ¾ aren't subscribed (like me), but we are still regularly watching your videos. Why should I subscribe if I can watch it anyways?
If you have a convincing argument as to why I should subscribe, I will! :D
Why should you not subscribe if you watch regularly anyways? You even get notified of every new video
more subscribers mean better acknoledgement from the youtube algorithm and potential partners for sponsorshi
ps.
@@pleasestopdisassemblingmylimbs 1. I will not stop disassembling your limbs. It's fun and frankly - you might deserve it :D
2. Makes sense. I won't get notified, tho. I hate notifications :D
Because if you're subscribed you can just go to the subscriptions page and see which videos have been uploaded. It doesn't have to be a notification, but it's an easier and more reliable way to know when a video has been uploaded than either checking his page every few hours or waiting for the YT algorithm to recommend the right video.
Also, Harry is putting out a free thing that you're enjoying. It is still free and requires very little effort for you to subscribe, which helps him out in turn at very little cost to you. It's just common courtesy. You have an opportunity to help someone out for basically nothing when they're spending several hours a day providing a service you use.
Do you want him to succeed and keep producing more videos for you to watch?
@5:06 how da heck was that a turn 1 Archon?
You really love Storm and these 2 cards dontcha? LED, Urzas Saga,
How does a chalice on 0 destroys an urzas Saga?😅
I was there
Aren't TES or ANT already able to get a turn 1 win?
There are only 3 decks in legacy. Murktide Regent, Urza's Saga, and Pox.
NEW. Well, as of 20 years ago, that is.
Urza saga is fine don't ban it in modern, it just single handedly wins games in both legacy and modern. It's fine.
Sad no helm kill
Chalice on one was a HUGE mistake. I guess he was getting greedy with his own moxes and whatnot. Chalice on zero is MUCH harder to combo thru, but it can be done.
Yah chalice check/ just still casting 0 drops help still build storm.
Not really new still cool tho :D
Impressive but also why I'd never play Legacy
5:13 wtf?! Why did the opponent Just Got 2 Red Mana Out of nothing?
2 Simian spirit guides! Forgot to mention this.
Thank you! That was confusing me too
...ANT is a NEW storm deck?
this deck isn't ANT just because it has ad naus and tendrils. for one when it comes to engines it doesn't run pif which is maybe the best engine in ANT, not even mentioning the presence of artifact mana like opal and chrome mox and lack of blue cantrips and cabal ritual
Comment for the algorithm
SURGE NOOOOOODE
This is a perfect example of why I think urza’s saga will be banned eventually.
It’s a colorless tutor, which is always potentially a problem, that works too well with all of the cheap artifacts in legacy.
Sure, wasteland is an answer but it’s only a matter of time before every deck will be playing either saga, wasteland or both.
Why do you keep saying you can only play 1 "noncreature" spell per turn when they have Archon out.
Make a dog deck. Any format. No Winota allowed.
Title of the video is slightly misleading. I mean, sure it can kill on turn 1, but so can any other version of the storm decks, with the same core and has been doing so for ages. It's almost the same as saying "New football is round!"
Have you by any chance been playing TFT? I keep hearing you say slam and I can’t help but think it’s from TFT 😂
Cool deck but not modern fungus cool.
How does he play archon of emeria with just a plains WTF
ANT is not a "new" deck archetype in Legacy
"new"
You could do this twenty years ago with Yawgmoth's Bargain instead of ad nauseam.
Ok, here it comes. Your content is amazing. AMAZING. But like... compared to Against the Odds by SaffronOlive I don't think you stand much of a chance? And also he has some hotness from being a bear, like big beard, sexy and so on. You are mostly just a bloke from Sheffield. Bro, I think you are maybe third.
A new deck that has been around long before Urzas saga was printed. Yes, very much so, yes, very new, much wow...
ANT is ANT, no matter how much you add stuff to it...
There are so many iterations on Ad Nauseum storm decks now, such as classic Ad Nauseum Tendrils, The Epic Storm, and now Black Saga Storm (and I'm not even counting non-Ad Naus decks here like Ruby Storm). Just because two decks have cards in common, does not make them the same.
@@399pi That is true, which is exactly his point. ANT is and has always been a deck that specifically is built to cast Ad Nauseum, using Infernal Tutor and Lion's Eye Diamond to support finding the wincon. The other decks you mention have different play patterns, and that is why they are called something else.
Adding Saga to storm is not exactly a new concept and it doesn't really change the deck itself. It is a tech card.
before wishclaw talisman TES also played infernal tutor led and ad nauseam yet was still a different deck - and had way more in common with ant than this deck does.
the play patterns are totally different, you don't have blue cantrips, you have a plan B in urza's saga, you don't have a graveyard engine like past in flames or pair of dice lost(or ill gotten gains), you're playing mox opal, city of traitors and ancient tomb and you don't have post-board answers to everything like ANT
saga isn't the only difference here and I don't even think it's the most glaring one
@@garridy2834 This is clearly a very different deck from ANT. Two colors are cut entirely, the third is just a splash for one tutor, and there are no cantrips.
I know its annoying to hear people moan about busted cards but urza's saga really is a problem.
The fact that it can fetch any hate piece fast mana you want put into play and create an army all by itself really shows how much of a one card win con it actually is.
I cant believe this card is still legal in modern.
It takes THREE full turns to do so.
@@Magidex
Its also attached to one of the least interactable card types in magic.
Theres a million and one varied ways to remove creatures, enchantments, exile graveyards that also furthers your own gameplan. Elspeth conquers death for example.
But lands have no mana cost to play and are exempt from a lot of the best removal spells in the game. Typical hate pieces for the lands specifically only affect lands and are incredibly mana inefficient which makes them incredibly hard to answer.
Day ??? Of asking Harry to try Tameshi
Do you speed up your gameplay or is play in legacy THAT FUCKIN FAST!?!
if a deck doesnt first turn kill. its not legacy.
Don't appreciate the clickbait but nice ANT list.
this is not a "new" deck.. I have this deck sitting in the deck box that's been in my attic for the past 8 years.
I'm pretty sure this is not a new deck.
"new" :P
