He doesn't mention the young German physicist, Werner Heisenbrg, who at tthe age of 23 went there in 1924 to find the isolation he needed to think undisturbed. What he did was to develop a theory that forms the basis of the then revolutionary principles of what we know as Quantum Mechanics.
In the first place Heisenberg travelled to Heligoland not to find isolation but because he suffered so badly from hayfever.

and that will be our second time because our first 3 days vacation short trip was back in August 2018.
Hope that this time to have a full 6 nights and 7 days of peace of mind with a stress-free vacation and feel more of Helgoland's nature, The special offshore climate, and the island's composition of red sandstone, shell limestone, and chalk that have produced this uniqueness in the North Sea in the plant and animal kingdoms over centuries. Once again hearing the squawking of the many sea birds, the breaking of the sea waves on the cliff rocks, and smelling the salty sea air. Love to see and observe once again the thousands of migratory birds with gannets breeding on the cliffs which around 2000 pairs of guillemots look for their breeding places on the guillemot rock. Visitors can marvel at the variety of seabirds and the natural spectacle of the breeding season from the cliff walk, likewise watching how the seals and gray seals swim and play against each other along the beach and seashores.
And most especially to meet once again the local friendly residents and at the same time taste their local food restaurants which prepare freshly caught all kinds of seafood like crabs, fish, and lobsters from their local fishermen.

well, the British did try to blow the island up so...
maybe there's something that survived buried underground....given the British mini-nuke didn't incinerate it....
On that note I really hope there wasn't relics of some obscure ancient local saint or similar holy thing people didn't notice there...

Where do they bury their dead? On or off the island?
There is a cemetery around the protestant church, where they bury their dead. But many of those who were not natives there get buried close to their families on the Main land.
Nothing about the neighboring smaller island? It takes 1 minute with the ferry, it has seals and a beautiful beach.

Yes, sometimes students are there for research. And some 1,500 locals live permanently on the island.
@@DWTravel cool but do amazon or cargo post delivers at there ? i searched online about the life in heliogland but could not find it, even not sure how the transport is available at there , only by ferry? and no car or bike is still allowed at there

Speziell on her is that you can walk oder by FEET !!! (Just must know that you must wait wait for walk back till next day ehrn the whater dill generell again, & onliedt follow the "witchbrooms" they marks the saviest way !!!!

My god! I imagined a mysterious, remote, romantic island and what I see is a mass tourism standardised duty-free rock! Go to Scotland or Ireland (e.g. Tory)! I know Neuwerk, not very far. Much better!

This is their only real north sea island
I'm sure they'll reach the Scottish coast from Hamburg by boat just as easily. Why not Aruba? Or Tahiti
