I can't believe they took out Grienke. There was no reason to. A pitch count of 80 and he was looking incredible. Sure he gave up a HR and walk, but they were to two of the greatest hitters in the game. A.J hasnt had faith in Grienke all postseason. Their bullpen has been sketchy all postseason and they lost them the game, without a doubt.

As a rangers fan, how fitting for the final season of the 2010’s to:
END IN TEXAS (2010 Rangers Ballpark in Arlington and Astros’ Minute Maid Park )
The losing team being the AL representatives AND FROM TEXAS (2010 Rangers and 2019 Astros)
Have it end with a strikeout (2010 Nelly Cruz and 2019 Michael Brantley)
Closing pitcher is obviously a dominant RHP for an underdog team (2010 Giants’ Brian Wilson and 2019 Nationals Daniel Hudson)
And finally, you have the hero with the biggest hit in his career and the turning point of that last game of the series (2010 Edgar Rentería and 2019 Howie Kendrick)

Verlander being a tremendous pitcher has nothing to do with that. Verlander deserves it, but the Astros management should be severely punished. Even as a player that wouldn't want to know the pitch, it would be hard to ignore the banging in the background that will be there regardless of your request. To me, it's not a player issue. Whenever baseball resumes again for real, the Yankees will surely be instant World Series favorites. Once they added Gerrit Cole to their rotation they definitely moved up the ranks. They won 103 games last year with a half-decent pitching rotation, & now add Cole to the mix. Granted, they had some injuries during spring training before everything got shut down, but on paper the Yankees still looked as good as any team around the majors.
Yeah I would say everyone in baseball outside of Houston was cheering for the Nationals, just because their story, losing Bryce Harper to free agency, their poor start after 50 games, but they gradually got it turned around, beat the Brewers in that memorable wildcard game, upset the Dodgers, cruised past the Cardinals, & finally toppled the Astros in 7 games. 14:50 For all the neutral fans who just love the game. Watch and re-watch and enjoy and bask in the demise of a soulless, dirty team getting their comeuppance.
The Astros could've won it all '80 and again in '86, and deserved better both years. They also deserve to have their 2017 title stripped. And they richly deserved losing this one. It's especially gratifying knowing that Springer's failure to run out his Game 1 double, which should've been a triple, cost them a chance to win that game, and ultimately cost these losers the World Series. Couldn't think of a better bunch to have that hung around their necks.

I can honestly say as a Red Sox fan I never wanted a team to win a championship more than this one. Giving her a reason to smile for a couple weeks; there’s no price tag for that. I was so proud to see 25 blue collar ball players outplay the much more technically talented Astros (no disrespect to them at all, they built it the right way.). You know when series was about to start, I hoped for a sweep of Astros so I can just relax but this is so much exhilarating to watch again and again. To the fans of Mariners, Padres, Rangers, Rays, Rockies, and Brewers, don't worry. Your time will come too. Nationals had so many heartbreaks which made this so much sweeter. When you guys win it for the first time, it will be as much fun as our first win. Good luck to y'all next season.

This game was very similar to game 5 of the NLDS. Nats were down 2 and Rendon hits a solo to make it a one run game. Soto walks and Kendrick hits the game winner. In game 5, Soto ties it, and Kendrick hits a grand slam in extra innings to win by 4 runs. They also won game 7 in Houston by 4 runs.
This team had extremely good hitting in the latter part of the game and their bullpen performed when it needed to.
Corbin was unreal in game 7 and the Nats also got help from the umpire on a couple of pitches.
