- We have just finished a 9 night cruise on NCL Jade to the Mediterranean and in this video we discuss the 10 things that surprised us.
Embarkation was so easy
Buffett was a high quality
The ship was elegant with lots of Art Nuevo designs
The ship had a really good flow which meant it was easy to find our way around
Not enough flexible seating outside
The “Free at Sea” deal was good value
Java Cafe Bar had a limited range of coffee
Specialty dinning was special but had special prices
Cabin was really nice
Good choice entertainment around the ship

My son and I are sailing on the Jade in August 2024 out of Orlando, Florida. I am looking forward to being on a smaller ship without all the water slides, etc. I'm sure we will have much warmer weather in the Caribbean than you had in the Mediterranean. The food and service on NCL ships is usually very good, so I expect the same on the Jade. Thanks for your input!

@@mamajaneshusband Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Jamaica. I've been to Cozumel many times, but this will be our first visit to Jamaica! My son needs the break from raising 3 kids on his own!
We were on the Jade Oct. 2023 for a 12 night Med cruise out of Athens. We had a wonderful time, staff were very polite and accommodating. I agree wholeheartedly with all your comments. Thanks for your lovely video.

We have sailed on the Jade twice, once on an Eastern Med cruise in 2015, when it was still decorated for cruising around Hawaii and then again in 2022, on a great cruise to the Greek Islands and Turkey. I really like the Jade. The staff is excellent and the new decor we saw in 2022 was very nice. I just watched your NCL Dawn review and wanted to note that the Captain on the Jade (at least in 2022) was very communicative and efficient. We made every stop on time and were able to speak directly with the Captain on one occasion. Maybe the should move the captain of the Jade to the Dawn??? Note that we are booked to sail around Africa on the Dawn in early 2025.
We had a much better experience on Jade than Dawn. We’ve recently been on Star and it was a better experience than Dawn but far from perfect and not as good as Jade. Dawn went to dry dock in April so no assum they took the opportunity to refresh the staff as well….

Leaving out of Galveston and going to the Panama canal. In February 6th
Watching this vid while having a Cuppa in my Norwegian Jade Mug. Was on the Ship approx 12yrs ago & swore I would never Cruise with NCL again [mind you, I said the same about MSC & I've just booked a trip with them in July]. When I was on her the food was awful & the entertainment [???] was laughable. There was a so called comedian [who was on the original "The Comedians" show from the 70s] who was so bad people were leaving the venue in droves. Good to see things have improved so much, might even be tempted to try them again. Thanks for the fun vids, keep 'em coming.
We have rebooked with NCL. I think the “free at sea package” makes them good value at the moment. Some of the comedians we have seen cruising have been truly dreadful because usually they are at the end of their careers.
Me and my roommate are on the NCL Jade this October for a cruise to Turkey and the Greek Isles. Really looking forward to it. Thank you for this video.
Thank you for your kind comments. Watch out for some of our port visits videos also which should be out before you travel. If you are going to Mykonos or Santorini it really worth doing your research to get the best out of these ports.

How did you enjoy the Jade?
We’re doing back to back in October out of Athens so we’ll be on the Jade for 14 nights, thanks so much for the info. The only disappointing news for me is only having Starbucks coffee (like the majority of Australians it isn’t to my taste). Thankfully we’re in port most days so I’ll get my coffee fix on land 😊.
Yes plenty of great places for coffee in med! Be aware that most serve espresso as default. So ask for “americano” this should be more to our taste. We are currently loading on CZcams sail-away videos from ports we visited and there are lots from the med. We do also post port reviews but are a bit behind in getting these done! Have a great time :)
@@mamajaneshusband Thanks but by far most Australians prefer espresso based coffees so Americanos are not a big thing here in our coffee shops, cafes and restaurants . It’s generally thought that’s why there are very few Starbucks in Australia though they are trying, via social media, to convert our young people to the wonders of excessive amounts of sugar and syrup. Different strokes for different folks. Have fun on your travels.
I'll be on the Jade in March 2025 and I'm Platinum level so I will have 2 Specialty dinners as a perk and the FAS gives 2 more and i upgraded the FAS to the PLUS and that got me 2 more Specialty dinners so the total of Specialty dinners will be 6! I loved the MDR called Summer Palace so I'm hoping that the Grand Pacific is just as good!

Going through Panama Canal is special - I loved - all the technology and its history is amazing
What specialty restaurant did u like the best?
We had a great time at Cagneys on Jade but it was average on Dawn. We enjoyed Moderna a lot on Star.
Have you been to Panama
We haven’t been on Jade to Panama but we have been on Cunard. It was an amazing experience to see how the channel operates. Cunard had an expert doing on deck commentary and various points during the transit. He also gave lectures about the history of the channel in the days coming up to our transit.
