Cruyff as per usual, talking gibberish and nonsense. 4 goals scored, two fantastic teams filled with many legends, and once again, Cruyff handing out imaginary trophies for 'best football'.

Cruyff was competely right in his assessment - it was one of the worst World Cup finals until the last half an hour, between two poor, boring teams.

I always disliked cruyff he was arrogant ( this is a dutch trait in my experience as well as rudeness and a complete lack of subtlety ) and naive . The naivety was exposed when the Dutch "masters" lost in 1974 and again in 1978 . The fact is Germany was better than France on the day and italy were a great team full of great players who came together at the perfect time. Brazil couldnt defend and suffered. The worst thing about cruyyf is everyone seems to worship him and buy into his convoluted philosophies on what is a beautiful but very simple game. Does the world need to be reminded that his " dream team " were given a footballing lesson by milan in the early 90's . Im sick of this man being worshipped . He was often wrong and failed on the biggest stages. he played in lesser leagues all through his career ( and yes the spanish league is and remains a lesser league with the exception of 2 maybe 3 teams).Great player but liked the sound of his own voice too much. Was not on maradona pele puskas or george bests level as a player either and i can name more players who were superior on the pitch

YOU ARE JOKING. Cruyff was arrogant but not naive and a very shrewd judge of the game. He was totally right about attractive football - the game is all. Italy and West Germany were two poor finalists and boring to watch - not many will remember them. He rates alongside Puskas, Maradona and Pele and is easily above Best. The Hungarian, Brazilian and Argentinian leagues were no better than Spain and the English first division has always been substandard technically. Notwithstanding a temperament problem at times he had a tremendous facility (he could even have kept goal) and there are few better post 50s players than him.

The reason why Germans won in 1974 was because of their aggresive man-to-man marking. Germans are dangerous at the last minute, like Cryuff said. Look at 1974 and even 2014. Talking about Cryuff playing in lower leagues, Puskas also played in lower leagues and yet you call him on par with Pele, Maradona, Best. Lol.
