I once said to my friend that majority of people in Indonesia lives in Java island, and most of them speaks Java.
My friend innocently asked "So most of your people are programmer?"
Well it is the most spoken traditional language (if I'm not mistaken) because the Javanese are 40% of the Indonesian population followed by the sundanese which is 20% but the newer generations are starting to leave traditional languages behind, I'm partially sundanese and Javanese but on family gathering I don't understand a word my relatives say 😂

Bali be famous because many tourist And There are many promotions of Bali to the international world. Don't Forget Indonesia is big country brother. has 17,000 islands and 400 mountains.
I am in Indonesia at the moment, not here for business, just traveling, discovering, connecting, learning, sharing... conscious tourism I call it. I'm in Sumatra Island, first time in Asia...and have to say I have felt very welcomed by the Indonesian people who in their vast majority are very kind, generous, helpful, humble, honest and curious towards me as a tourist ... I am not a religious person, although I live my life practicing and promoting positive human values such showing gratitude, being humble and géneros, offering help, practice self discipline and moderation, being as gentle as possible with all living beings and the environment etc... The landscape here is breath taking, profusion of natural tropical beauty everywhere, lush green mountains and rice fields, turquoise blue seas, golden sand beaches...stunning!! The one thing which has shocked me though is the amount of rubbish and litter I find everywhere, it's so sad! I don't understand why a lot of people here, despite being so religious, don't have that awareness to be respectful towards the environment and just dump their rubbish anywhere! Waste management and recycling are very important areas in life I think the Indonesian government should start promoting in their education system for future generations. Peace and unity to all man kind
I totally agree. Indonesian governance need to improve, beside enviromental and education there are many issue of corruption, plutocracy and such. No nation is perfect, and there are lots of room for us indonesia to grow :)

Do you teach music in Sumatra? So lucky, people in western countries seem like can go anywhere they can... Always wondering did they work or something or where did they get money etc. They seem very adventurous without fear. About the trash's issue, yeah don't expect much with the developing country but it depends tho especially to a local officials & environments like in which neighborhood that you live in Sumatera etc. Well actually I ever live in western country a couple years ago. There was also a lot of trash everywhere

I've only traveled outside of Europe twice in my life as traveling is expensive and only in my later 40's I started having a bit of extra money to do so... so it's not really true that all westerners can go anywhere! But I see your point, being able to travel at all is a total luxury in life! About the rubbish, It's true, there are certain places in some European cities that have lot's of trash everywhere too, it varies a lot throughout Europe, but I think in general it's much more controlled, managed and penalized... especially dumping trash in rivers is totally illegal. I was not a tourist but travelled for business, their language Bahasa Indonesia was nice to hear, it sounds like Swahili (I am African). I m a malaysian Hindu.Had an opportunity to visit Indonesia.Was awed by their simplicity annd kindness.The way they spoke humbly made me realise how they were living.Would love to go back again if I had the chance.
They even have a majority Hindu Tamil area, Kota Madras Indonesia where the majority is like 90% Tamil people but the rulers only force them one thing, language. So most of them dun speak fluent Tamil anymore but their genes and ethnicity are still authentic Tamil bcuz they didn't intermarried with local natives. The rest like their culture, Hindu religion and their Tamil-traditional Temple are there like normal.
