I just love this interactions with Carmina! I couple years ago, I bought my wife a pair of their boots and to this day, they are one of her favorite pair of shoes.

I've purchased a suede loafer from them and I love it!
Three pairs of women’s carminas and I’m exceptionally pleased with them. One pair of blake-stitched suede loafers and two goodyear welted, a woven loafer and a balmoral boot. I hope to purchase a made-to-order cordovan loafer at some point. Really exceptional customer service as well - when I was purchasing them the rep was super helpful supporting me while we puzzled out sizing and the best last shape for me over email. Great interview, Kirby!

Some of these comments are so disappointing, I would of guessed his demographic had more class and dignity than this. I have 4 Carmina boots, I love them dearly and will be gifting my girlfriend a Carmina boot or shoe of her choice this Christmas, thank you Kirby for making this, I sent her this video the moment I saw it.
A lot of Carmina women's shoes are not goodyearwelted though. The Cordovan shoes shown in the beginning can also be had without gyw from Carmina which I find very irritating.
Also would love it if there were more EEE options for women.
My wife has a few pairs. Their heels are generally not Goodyear welted because the construction is a lot thinner.
@@lanzarlalunaI'd love it if those were gyw as well. It is possible. Kuckelkorn for example does OTR gyw heeled shoes for women. But honestly, as long as they can resole the others I'm fine with it. It's just misleading to say that all of them are gyw. Pretty sure Carmina even showed us the exact Cordovan that is not gyw.
Yes, Carmina can certainly make Blake stitch shoes. But what is important is that they’re never misrepresenting their work. Never will you find Carmina calling a shoe “Goodyear welted” that is in fact Blake stitch or glued. And oftentimes their choice in construction simply comes down to what the best method is for the specific shoe. Casual models, and in many cases women’s shoes, are best Blake stitched for added comfort and flexibility.
@@kirbyallison Thanks for the reply, Kirby. I have to disagree though. Here is one of the descriptions: "This shoe, like all the other Carmina´s, is carefully manufactured by expert craftsmen who follow the exact same techniques that Charles Goodyear created in 1869."
How would you say this shoe is constructed? Because it does sound like goodyearwelt, but it is indeed a glued construction. (No mention of that whatsoever, but with Carmina it is "no exact mention of construction=glued) How do we even know that? Because we have user reports on sites like reddit where the shoes have been taken apart. The heel stack is plastic and the sole says "goodyearwelted" even though the shoe is clearly glued. (There might be a faux welt involved.)
You can find these reports quite easily. Since you are so close to them maybe you can ask them what they have to say about this?

"The creation of a Goodyear welted shoes for women seemed almost impossible to achieve at the beginning and specially with a heel. However, after years of testing we managed to make women's shoes with a feminine appearance."
@@TobiasRieperGood it you have the price tag of a Goodyearwelted shoe I'd expect to get something of that kind. Not a glued shoe that costs way less to make. Shoe construction only matters to the few of us who don't want to throw away their shoes after the sole is run down or the people who appreciate the craft of making genuinely good products.
