On Self Respect by Joan Didion read by A Poetry Channel

Originally published in 1961 as an essay for Vogue Magazine, On Self-Respect eventually made its way into Joan Didion's classic Slouching Toward Bethlehem - a grand collection of essays which I may eventually (if somewhat haphazardly) record for A Poetry Channel.

Living with failure has allways been easy/ hard for me. I was lucky/unlucky. Just as I got to stand with one foot on each end of the bell curve - both places are unpleasant
