NIN is more of an Industrial Metal band. If you want something harder, try some songs from their earlier albums "Pretty Hate Machine", "Broken", or "The Downward Spirial". You might also like their song "We're in this Together" although it's not as hard but still an awesome song.
Btw, Trent Reznor aka the one man band, the lead singer of NIN is the man that discovered Marilyn Manson.

NIN did become a little more pop-sounding as he got older, so if you want harder, I agree with everyone who suggests stuff he did earlier such as Head Like a Hole, or Closer. You might also like Starfuckers, Inc.
You might also want Ministry or Stabbing Westward, two other Industrial bands with a lot of gritty noise and screaming. For the super hard, and just fucking weird, I suggest The Cramps, or Foetus. Well, Cramps is more hardcore rockabilly, but they are weird. Garbage Man or Human Fly are good ones to start with. They don't yell, but Foetus does.

Manson and NIN back to back?? Hell yeah Alex. This was actually my first NIN song too (back when it was a new single in 2005). I highly recommend checking out older NIN material. Songs like "Closer", "Head Like a Hole", and "Down In It" would be fantastic. I know you'll love all three. One day you need to react to their performance at Woodstock '94. The aggression of young Trent in a live setting will give you goosebumps.

You should check out Closer by Nine Inch Nails. There are actually 2 versions of the music video. One is as the band wanted it. It had some scenes that MTV wouldn't air. So, the band did cut those scenes out, and replaced them with "scene missing" screens.

I am so glad you jumped in to some NIN! I agree with most of the posts here. Songs like Head Like a Hole, and the night club classic "Closer" would have been probably a much better start. Head Like a Hole is a LOT more "scream" and then a lot of his early 90s work is definitely more screaming. I played a TON of Nine Inch Nails while at Sam Houston State.

Now that I'm thinking about it, *Wish* and *Happiness in Slavery* would be decent examples of the heavier side of NIN as well. I think *The Hand That Feeds* was just more popular due to its mainstream feel, which is why it probably seemed like the "obvious" choice.

You started with an "older, gentler" NIN here. I would recommend revisiting them with "Head Like a Hole", or if you really want to dive in heavy go for "Wish." Also, "Gave Up" might be interesting because Manson is performing in that video as well (guitar, backup vocals.) Cheers!

My first NIN song was Down In It in '88-'89. I will say Broken and The Downward Spiral are way heavier and layered than With_Teeth. But I will say, it's just NIN growing and changing as an artist.
