@AIR AIMTA North Africa is not part of the Arab world. We are very different from you in all regards. We are not Maronite or Druze or Alawi or any of the various strange people of that part of the world. No offense but we have a different identity and history.
After the fall of the Roman empire before the conquest of Andalusia by Tariq b. Ziyad, Iberia witnessed a growth of urbanisation which was uncharacteristic of the post-Roman world. This testifies to the cultural growth of the region by itself without any conquest. The Muslims just arrived during this upward trend and capitalised on its latent cultural capacity.
The architecture and music of Andalusia is not present in the Middle East in situ, and what is similar between the two usually has a Byzantine basis. Levantines forget that they were under Byzantine control and their architecture before the Caliphate was Byzantine, Roman and Greek, not native. The ruling Arab aristocrats, using the jizya squeezed out of the native Levantine dhimmis, patronised this byzantine material culture and that's how it became 'Arab'.
Moorish culture does have Byzantine and Persian influences mislabelled as Arab, but it developed its complete character in the western Mediterranean and became universal there during the Almohad empire. The horse shoe arch was in Visigoth Spain before the 8th century and the Corinthian columns which support them have been used in North Africa and Spain since antiquity and as the name suggests originate in Corinth.
There is a reason why when Khaleeji princes or Western museums want to reconstruct Moorish architecture, they go to Morocco to find architects and craftsmen and never to the Levant or Arabia.
The funny things is, the Andalusians of the 8th to the 16th centuries have little to no Arab ancestry as judged by the genetic remains from graves of that period. What geneticists have pieced together is that Islamic Andalusia was a Iberian-Berber hybrid society in genetic terms. The Arab ancestry is absent.
@AIR AIMTA What you're saying isn't quite right. The majority of Andalusian Muslims were Berbers from North Africa and not Arabs. Anyway today genetics has spoken. 11% of the genetic heritage in Spain comes from northern Morocco. On the other hand, the Arab heritage is almost non-existent. I don't have study results in Portugal, but I guess it must be the same.

Quelle performance ! Chanter en Portugais alors qu'elle ne parle pas cette langue (selon une de ses interview sur une station radio Marocaine). Bravo Ferdaous. Une grande artiste qui va marquer son temps. In chaa Allah ,une longue vie avec une bonne santé. Salutations fraternelles d'Alger.
Slaves, Berbères et Arabes maîtrisent le portugais (accent!?) avec une facilité déconcertante. Un logiciel informatique élaboré pour Expo-Langue (Paris-fin des années 90), détermine que les langues Slaves, Arabes et Berbères contiennent presque tous les tons (sauf le "u") pronnoncés par la majorité des langues répertoriées. Une "gymnastique" qui va du nez á la gorge en passant par les joues, les lèvres et ... les poumons!!!
Dans cette étude (logiciel), après l' Arabe et le Russe (mis pour les langues Slaves) apparaît le ... Portugais!
