Lol! Unless you bought it on sale like I did my 2008. The dealer had bought a "lot" from Dodge when the 2008 mess hit. Turns out they shipped every last one of them in only one color. I couldn't argue when buying a $32k truck with incentives for only $18k at the time. The sales manager asked what color I liked. Then after responding, he told me I could have it in any color I liked, as long as it was "electric blue".

The paint quality is poor on these trucks, I have a 2016 ram and the paint seems really thin and seems to chip really easily. My truck have never seen a car wash, only washed by hand with new microfiber towels and it still has swirls in the paint.

@@Kickinthebassoutdoors In general Chrysler products are subpar, but Rams are built a little differently I think. I know they're not really "American" anymore, but they tried to stay true to the name and I think they put a little more care into building a solid truck. I'm happy with mine and it's been a good vehicle, 60,000 miles and counting, no issues, and they're fun to drive.

      @yomomma6492 Před 7 lety +2

Yuriy Pono not really, the only things that could be fixed by a higher trim are the headlights not being HID and not having the backup camera. The speakers rattling is probably only on a couple trucks, the throttle response and transmission problem is a thing that could happen on a 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie with a 5.7 and the same transmission on his truck, and the black paint is available on all the Laramie editions.

Well I bought my 2014 ram 1500 around the same time you did there are only 6 differences in mine.
    1. Mine has an 8 speed transmission so there goes one complaint
    2. Mine came with both parking sensors and a backup camera so there goes number 2
    3. I have never experienced the rattle on my doors (it is a crew cab so it is still the same doors)
    4. I have the other headlights that came with it. They are actually pretty good when it comes to visibility but I must say yours look much nicer.
    5. I got a nice big red one so number 4 is taken care of
    6. I know these were not mentioned but mine also has 4 wheel drive and a nice 6 1/4 ft bed
So at the end of the day it looks like my truck is pretty dang perfect if those are the only complaints about the thing lol.

I have basically the same truck except for the black paint and headlights and agree with most of what you're saying. The throttle response is mostly ok for me but sometimes it does lag a little where I do wonder what's under the hood. I do find the non-projector lights work very well in my truck. The projector lights in my wife's 2015 Cherokee also suck so maybe it's just that type of headlight. Two things I would add to your list are adjusting the temp knob all the way cold turns on the AC and when you turn the radio off you have no clock.

i tuned it, and its a totaly different truck. added hid's and i can see everything. you gotta mod these trucks to get that connected feeling. they have a lot if potential but they sell them to modest people so they are "eh" out of the factory. my ram is fast as fk and fun as hell to drive now. sell your shit get one with an 8 spd and tune it, you wont regret it!

I never drove one with a 6sp but the 8sp auto is one of my favorite things about my 2014 quad cab Hemi powered Ram truck. It always finds the right gear, shifts quick, helps with the fuel mileage etcetera. With 42 something thousand miles and a needed mechanical repairs racked up, I'm wondering if I didn't screw up by not buying a Tundra. The fuel mileage sucked on those trucks though. I can easily hit 23-24 mpg on my trips between Texas and Ca with this Hemi powered truck. Pretty amazing, lucky if you could do that in a new Tacoma. My 2001 wouldn't do it!!!

I have a 2013 RAM 1500 Express reg cab short bed with 6 speed AT.
I agree on the “standard” feeling 6 speed AT. I feel like the 6 speed is actually a 4 speed with added 3rd gear for tow and added 6th for overdrive. it works just fine, but not the best setup for acceleration. (I know, I know, it’s a truck, not a race car)
1 thing I did to improve the overall drivability of the truck was to add a mild plug-n-play tuner by Hypertech. Adds noticeable power, but more importantly improves throttle response like night and day. If I were to purchase another RAM 1500 tomorrow, I would without a doubt get this tuner for it, even if just for the heightened throttle response, makes all the difference. The tuner does not change any values in your ECU, so doesn’t void warranty.

the throttle response and transmission is not a hardware problem, these trucks are meant to "dull down" inputs so you don't crash backing up to your trailer - get a tune and both can perform - shifts will be fast and firm and throttle response quick. I recommend a superchips flash if you're not planning on a ton of mods, diablosport if you're going deep.

I own 2 ram 1500 4 wheel drive quad cab pickups 2014 and have not had a problem with either of them yes they are the top of the line and yes they have every option but they are very quiet and very comfortable to drive, I have not had a single problem whit either truck , my wifes has 40,000 miles and mine has 32,000 on it we both have the 8 speed trans witch is a better choice witch makes it bullit prof but i've also have owned both GMC and ford and have nothing bad to say about either truckat the end of the day they all haul things and get from a to b so it's personnel preference as to what you want to drive

Gearing effects felt throttle response & something like the Sprint Booster or other brand of throttle interface would help ALOT. A tune plus intake / exhaust mods too. I have a '10 Hemi TRX4 reg cab / sb with 3.92 gears....Instant throttle response....

Just an FYI you got an express so those didn't come with projector lights. Meaning those are tyc oem replacement so that's the issue with the visibility. When you get a chance compare the amber in the day time running lights to another ram with projector headlights that's how you know if they are legit oem

Good review, what he said at the end, Chevy, Ford, RAM, Toyota and Nissan all build awesome trucks! After years of owning Tacos, as good as they are, never dreamed just how great a full size pickup is, comfort is unreal fuel economy ain't bad, my dad had an 80 something F250 with 4wd with manual and a 460, might have got 8mpg, had 2 tanks and needed them, was uncomfortable Road awful and due to someone putting a steel flat bed on it and screwing up the filler, took about 30 minutes to fill it up, he lived it, but it was really a bad truck.

I have thr exact same year, color, make and model 1500 except standard cab and it did come equipped with a back-up camera and tri-fold canvass bed cover.
As I agree with the transmission issue, I find some quality issues with my truck I don't like such as a leaking 3rd high mount brake light and the roof easily gets dented when going through the drying part of an automatic carwash..
Other than that it's a good truck.

RPProductions: I can relate to you're issue with the paint. I have a 2014 Blue Pearl and live next to a gravel road. One thing you can try is F11 from Topcoat. It's really helped me with keeping mine looking clean, even with it being parked outside all the time. My 2014 Ram was used when I got it and it has lots of fine scratches. Waxing only works for a short time and takes forever with the crew cabs. The F11 sealant really cut my clean up times down.

Yeah the 8 speed is very much better. I put a K&N cold air intake, and a flow master 40 on mine and throttle response is already way better, I'm still going to do a throttle body but the intake and exhaust helps significantly

I got more compliments from people on this car, but I put blood and sweat in keeping it up. I would never take it out unless it was clean, but damn they look mighty fine huh? I like your Ram, which is something I would get, yes, even in black. Take it easy and keep up the good work. Alex.
