Thanks for watching! We were going to put this back on fleaBay but I like it so much I've decided to keep it and keep using it - who would've guessed? BTW please consider supporting this channel so we can keep making videos like this 🙏 patreon.com/perifractic
Speak to Elliott over at the retro future
Ok, here is my reaction to this video: 😮 Wow - that was a surprising and cool combo of products! And if anyone were supposed to make this video - it was of course you, thanks for teaching us something new and cool! 😄
You have to get a worm light or a magnifier light for it. I felt the struggle with you using the light. 😆 Good times back then buying all the batteries. So many double A’s.
Now we need to design a Commodore serial interface for this sewing machine. It would be cool to be able to "print" a 1541 directory from a Commodore 64 to a sewing machine!
lol
hahaah
👶Babyfractic is going to be so fashionable with all your sewing skills!👍
I entered the Konami code and it sewed my kimono shut.
It dispensed 30 extra spools of thread though, and infinite continues.
Babyfractic is so lucky to have TWO super-nerd parents. Very cute video Lady!
I have no prior interest in sewing but I thought that was really cool! Very ingenious idea to get a Gameboy controlling a sewing machine. It looks like a fun hobby. Well done to Ladyfractic on her designs and creations, and congratulations to you both for the upcoming arrival of Babyfractic.
I’ve seen these machines at some gaming expos. However, I’ve never seen one in operation, of course. A few years ago I had obtained a Husqvarna machine from a goodwill for less than $20. It needed some minor work (which I want going to do haha) but I knew it was an expensive machine nonetheless. Even in as-as condition I did make a tidy profit. My original plan was to use it as I do sew on rare occasion, but it wasn’t worth my time.
I’m so happy you did this video we who were curious could finally see this GameBoy powered machine in operation.
I didn't turn off and I did learn something, in fact I learnt a burp-load. Thanks for the vid LF.
Hell yeah!!! I loved "home economics" in middle school. I kinda remember really liking the sewing machine. And wow!!!! With a Gameboy; I'm in!!!
Nicely done, Ladyfractic. The first of your Retro Recipes Retro Sews worked seamlessly, which is pretty odd for a show about sewing. It was nice to see an alternative use for the Color Gameboy and see your patient guidance of Perifractic, who showed himself to be a very game boy for this video.
I remember using a sewing machine in Home Economics at Secondary School. I was terrified of the needle, which due to my heavy foot on the pedal, felt more like a horror challenge trying to keep my fingers from being sewn together. Imagine the James Bond laser sequence in Goldfinger but with a sewing machine and his hands. Oh, the angst.
I remember my paternal grandmother had a Singer sewing machine powered by a treadle rather than a pedal and was built into its own table. Although you got a free leg workout when you used it, so you ended up with great calf muscles and a final product that satisfied your requirements.
I look forward to seeing more Retro Sews and hope you can source the missing parts from your machine to complete your set.
This was an excellent video by you both. In fact, a great job completely sewn up.
Well, today I learned that Ladyfractic and Perryfractic appear to have dog paws for feet! :)
Fantastic video! Never thought I'd find a sewing machine controlled by a Game Boy interesting, but now I want one! :)
I was about to take a sip of a hot drink but manage to avert scalding
That was actually really neat, I am impressed that a Gameboy Color controlled the machine.
Congratulations again too both of you 🎉❤. Sew much to do, sew little time, I thought the project was Hanging by a thread when perrifractic had a go, but you trained him well and Bobbin’s your uncle if he didn't get the hang of it like nobody’s spool. he seemed sew into it at the end and was Bobbin along nicely. I am out of material now 🤭 Laughing sew hard am I. Stitches 😂 sorry😂 😁
P.s if this was a Hollywood film it would star both of you and be called Star Wars: A New Hem...and now am done 😂
Great play on words. ;)
I never knew my Saturday would end with a sewing video. 😅
My dear old mum was a sewing 🧵 machinist, she made bras. She met my dad who was the singer sewing machine engineer. Then they both made me ;)
I'll never look at a Gameboy the same way again! 😂 I honestly had no idea. I actually find it very cool as I learned how to use a sewing machine from my grandmother. And burping pad is nerdy enough otherwise you would have been making little booties! 😂 Congrats to you both!
Pedal Car Basics? Processed Cotton Bales? Perfected Cloth Burping? Primary Circuitry Bunting? (Just some more PCB ideas for this one? LOL). Or Plastic Coated Buttons? (As a bonus one!).
My missus does embroidery on a 6 needle machine, I'm pretty amazed with the results, and was happy to deep dive into various embroidery softwares and the designs possibilities.
1:02 - WOW .. T A L E N T 👏
6:33 - Babyfractic on Board
14:33 - The other left !!!
17:09 - Perifractic just had the same feeling I've had with my frist embroidery design :)
19:11 - Men with needle jokes when discovering sewing and embroidery ... been there done that 😜
19:55 - Ah! a practice run ... Perifabric was way to confident earlier in the video.
Just amazing to see the hardwaresoftware creativity from back early 2000s and what the GAMEBOY software is able to do.
Very cool video.
I have two of these after first finding them new at Big Lots for $299. :)
Perifractic/Ladyfractic room's like a city, a small model of a city! :)
Nice to see you having real use for this while actually showing something really done with those machines.
I have seen other videos mentioning this machine but no one ever demonstrated it for real due to the lack of skills.
That medieval dress looked amazing!
It would be so cool to see something similar interfaced on a C64 too. 😊
14:58 When Peri stepped on the pedal, I was expecting to see KITT's accelerator pedal with the LEDs lighting up.
Babyfractic will have the coolest childhood!
A game boy, sewing machine is certainly on brand for the channel, but if you’re going to do more, so in contact, I’d be interested in seeing if you can get your hands on a surgery, those seem super cool
Wow..20 minutes went fast. Im glad you did the letters and the hearts...otherwise i wouldnt have been able to tell the game boy was doing anything at all.
I'm a bloke, I don't do sewing.... But, I loved this video...........Kudos LadyFratic x
Totally fascinating. And definitely more than your average product tie-in. My wife being a virtual wizard in the world of “cloth fabrication” i really appreciated the basic tutorial as well. Cheers
Ive been learning to sew. Not on a gameboy just with my hands so far. Nice to be able to repair and refit old clothes
I wonder if this would work from the Analogue pocket. It has that connection port and takes GB games. That'd be pretty wild mix of old and new tech
18:35 Not sure if on purpose, but this didn't go unnoticed :D : "And also you've got a design which is even hearter"
What a delight! Very geeky project. Thanks for sharing this and congratulations on your new family addition!
Damn I just saw one of these at a shop, had no idea it was like this
The only circumstances under which I will ever watch a CZcams video about sewing are these.
That's just a tickle more advanced than this fella's Elna Supermatic.
not a gimmick, serious interfacing.
I hardly ever sew, but when I do, it's rewarding and close to addictive
My brother is a Dress Designer/Maker and I have wanted to get him this setup for years now
Superb LadyFractic love your work on the Gameboy and the sewing machine. Perifactic you are going to be a great dad just like your dad was a awesome bloke. Your children will grow up knowing these times to be their memories of a wonderful childhood. Thank you .
great video just amazing what can be done, at the time you never thought that would be possible
Great video as always. What a useful skill to have!
Cool, I had seen other videos on it but nice to see it used with a practical example. The love hearts are sweet and the lettering options are really cool. I sense a baby room full of Perifabrics.
18:00 O.k. .. i'm actually awestruck..
That's - sorry perryfractic - actually the best video from your family by far...
As i said, sorry perryfractic, your content is still cool.
But this is a whole other dimention on top of that..
Love it... please keep it up ;)
No need to apologise at all! Glad this one was more your cup of tea!
Nintendo/Singer did released a Sewing Machine add-on for the GameBoy Color.
How cool is this I never knew the game boy could do stuff like this. Great video as always and I got to learn a few things I never knew so thanks. Looking forward to what you guys bring us next so until the have a great weekend and take care 🙂
There's a fishing sonar out there. I grew up when this was coming out and I would always be thirsty for Gameboy and handheld news lol
Congrats on the baby!!💜💜🙏🙏💐💐
I'm so glad I didn't miss the end: Perifabric, LOL.
Y'all or going to be the best parents, and that kid is going to have the ultimate nerdy upbringing. Love it, and love you all.
What a coincidence, I was already playing Tetris (DX) on my Game Boy Color [sic] before I started watching this video! And it's a teal one too. Although perhaps it's not so much of a coincidence, since I often play Tetris on my Game Boy while I'm watching videos.
I shouldn't be surprised that the GBC can do all this, it does have a relatively powerful processor similar to the Z80 or 8080, and they had whole PCs running on those processors back in the day. But it does seem kind-of like magic that you can press a few buttons on your GBC and basically turn your sewing machine into a sewing robot.
Congratulations on the new one!
I was hoping you’d be making another episode with this unique machine!
Wonderful episode watching you both delving into each others worlds to try new things. That Baby Fractic is going to me one smart 🍪
I am sew impressed by how quickly Perifabric picked up on using a sewing machine. Well done. I anticipate that one day, in the near future, you two will sew a circuit board. Then again, that might not be a good idea... What would become of PCBWay then?
I have been waiting for this one for a loooooooong time
I always wanted to see this being used, I just can't imagine the connection that made this collab possible. Either someone in the singer fam had a Gameboy or someone at Nintendo had a singer lol
when i lived in uk, my gran had an original singer footpedal one ... funny though every women who was pregnant in our family seemed to either start knitting or using a sewing machine lol . i remember my mum using sewing machines at time of my younger siblings being born.. we all got knitted jumpers that year, if we had pets they would have been kitted out too :D lol good video
I know some times when woman get pregnant hair can grow in strange places due to hormones, but that is 1 harry foot. I think you also need a (Pet)icure. :). Loved the video.
Those burp clothes come in handy for sure. So happy for you both! =) Gameboy sewing machine is an interesting combination.
*WOW never knew about this! how awesome* 💪👍
I have an old russian sewing machine, 1988 I think. It is computerized, with an LED display, and it can sew up a 4-hole button for me. But I never had the time to learn how to use it.
I'm 50 years old. Why did I watch all of this?
Because it was interesting, and retro, and funny - like all of your other videos.
Nice joke at the end perifabric.
And how long can you go until you make the sewing machines pedal a Kitt pedal with the green lights up the sides. Think of it as an Idea Worm wriggling around in your brain.
I remember when I was in school and we had to use a sewing machine (my first time) to make a cushion as a project, I chose to put the Enterprise-D on mine using the cotton to outline it, one trip to the sickbay later (I managed to get the skin between my finger and thumb) my teacher kept it! That was my nerdy project, 30 years on and I’m still afraid to go near one😂
Great episode and very interesting machine! Perifractic will definatly change with gift of of his growing family. A child always changes priorities... Enjoy the new phase in your life :)
I just want to say that you guys are a "perfect" couple . Love what you do :)
If before this vid you had told me a Game Boy was used for sewing I would have laughed and checked it wasn’t April 1
Haha you used a very similar sound effect to what Veritasium ends their videos with a few times and I kept thinking I was at the end.
Awesome! Awesome to the max!
So cool! By the way I love your hair! 😍
I just watched a video on sewing.... and I don't know why, hmmm very peri-practical
serious mum + stressed dud = happy baby !!! lol
Great video!
This sewing machine is absolutely genius. My nice would love it? Does it automatically make the stitches and pattern?? 💜💜💜💜
It would be cool to have a similar tool for the DS line, now that embroidery machines exist.
On the other hand, some of those stitching programs even make a full PC cry.
World’s cutest sneeze! Lol
19:08 LOL 😆
"Peri-fabric" - hahahaha genius!
Cool, Even me start beeing corioius to saw.. Look nice and not so complicated as I belived to make that patterns
Alternative (albeit nerdy) comment: 'But can it play ----' (insert game name here), LOL!👾
congrats on the kido 🤗
Awesome piece of kit! BTW you remind me of Megan Boone!
Aww, I thought you were going to sew the baby's name... Oh well, it was interesting all the same 😄
Very cool. I have a Brother Disney PE-180D, and a Brother sewing machine. I've been meaning to hack the PE-180D for some time now. But I won't be using a GB though. :)
"Make it sew!" 😂
Does it control and experimental submersible?
Now they need a sewing machine that you control with your phone.
I didn't sew this coming...
Also I was half expecting the words "Zed Zag", in stead of "Zig Zag", and just last week a close relative had to go to the emergency room as the needle when right through into the finger!
Greetings from Poland :) wow :)
my mom bought me an old Gamboy color with cartridges at a rummage sale in O Fallon Illinois it came in a bag of stuff it was blue like that one she bought me a cd player portable a whole bunch of hair accessories and jewelry and new clothes made out like a bandit at that sale that Saturday and a couple clock radios and 2 nice prints of paintings truth best rummage sale ever they really put some thought into it truth
Wholesome :')
I'm curious whether you're going to make Perifractic say "Mom" instead of "Mum"?
My cousin who's Australian married a Canadian girl and they've got a couple of children, and it's funny hearing him switch between "Mom" and "Mum". Also having split their time between Australia and Canada, their kids' accent is very interesting. So I'm sure Babyfractic's (eventual) accent will also be interesting.
This video had me in stitches....get it....stiche....oh never mind. Very cool though. Do the modern ones let you do this from a smartphone? Will Apple produce an iSew? Eh? :D
Singer and Janome, sewing is such a lost skill!!! Everyone should know how to repair clothing. I can only sew by hand and my god it's sooo satisfying. A sewing machine is a whole other level of skill. You go, Ladyfractic!!!
for my moms birthday one year I had to keep her from knowing we were getting a flat screen for the kitchen then I had to keep her from knowing we were courtesy of me a brother electronic sewing machine and some puzzle books and a pen for her all for her you should have seen her face I said mom you are worth it I am paying for it on time truth
Should have programmed Commodore logo
I love retro nerd stuff, and my wife likes sewing... so this was a an interesting combo.
You have a sewing channel by chance? My wife would subscribe.
Not so much "dot-matrix" as "hole-matrix". Sounds like "seamstress" to me. Quality!
I tried sewing but the machine passed down through the famy is cursed. My mother handed it to me and said the pedal was missing, had been for years. She had bought a new pedal but it went missing. I drove a couple of hours to buy another pedal. Couple weeks later, tried to break out the machine and the pedal was missing again. Nobody has seen it since. 😂
Cooooool
Woohoo!!! So can this Gameboy have KITT's CPU in it??
