  • Application of anti chip coating guard in auto painting for beginners. Video about my D.I.Y. stone chip guard application experience.
    Here you will learn how I used automotive primer sealer and anti chip coating Gravitex.
    There are far too many videos where people apply anti chip guard to bare metal. Gravitex or any other anti chip coating is not designed to stop rust, it is designed to stop primer paint scratch and stones chipping away your protective coating.
    There must be an automotive primer sealer that will seal the bare metal from moisture and oxygen. This video is automotive painting 101 for anyone who plans to apply anti chip coating.

      Thank you! In relation to your previous comment about protection from inside where paint can not get in. I used Platinum grade LPS3 premier rust inhibitor

    What about the wheelwells, at least brush on some gravitex, or similar to add protection,to battle the rust monster ,and since this part where the wheel is gets dirt, plus when the roads are wet the wheel while moving brings dirt water on to the wheel well,and I don>t know if where you are it snows, they put salt on the streets,which could contribute to the corrosion rust of the van/car.

    Hi thank you for putting this this video on, it has helped me a lot, I have acquired a few cans of hycote stone guard white do you know if this will still give the stone chip/orange peal effect like the Gravitex does? Obviously I'll be using the primer sealer first on the bare metal, many thanks Simon.

    Do you think this will work on hot dip zinc gates? What thinning % would I use to spray paint gates with this with a 2/2.5 nozzle

    How well has this rock chip finish held up since you sprayed it?

      Bang on, not a single defect so far, not a rust spot anywhere on the van. Head gasket blown, but I do not think it is related 😂🤣😅. The video is coming soon.

    Did a lot of paint bind to the floor of your garage?

    I got a bottle of gravitex today. Will it work as good if it’s brushed on, It’s just for the cab floor of my van.
    (I haven’t got a air compressor)

      @weld-deluxltd7635  Před 5 lety

      Hello Brian, cannot think why not. If you not worry about any particular finish and apply several coats, you will be able to build a decent layer. Just make sure you do not apply it onto bare metal. The metal has to be protected first.

    • @briancullen8913
      @briancullen8913 Před 5 lety

      Not worried about the finish as the floor mat is going to cover it up, I need to wire brush some rust patches, what should I use over the bare metal before putting on the gravitex?
      Thanks for your reply 😀

      @@briancullen8913 I am not a Pro painter and i do not know your budget, but i used Zinga (Shown in some other videos here on my channel) and it worked really good as paint job is a year old not and everything looks fine. I would go with cleaning to shiny petal first, then put on some zink containing primer and sealing primer over the top. even if you have not got a compressor, you can still get 2 component primers in the cans. Have fun!

    hi all, just a question what about with the spray gun type to apply that antichip (pvc sealant),is it a standar spraygun or is an special plug.

    • @weld-deluxltd7635
      @weld-deluxltd7635  Před 5 lety

      You can use standard spray gun but it has to have large hole in it. The one you see me using at 2:00 is 2mm hole and i tried with 2.5mm hole and it worked even better. Please bear in mind that the smaller hole in the gun the finer the spray and smaller thickness of anti chip (You need to do more layers)

    Hello, I have a Iveco Daily that I'm planning on spraying with U-POL Gravitex plus hs stone chip coating as its remarkably more cost affective than the raptor paint. Do you think that that would work? Many Thanks

    • @TheFukwitz
      @TheFukwitz Před 3 lety

      Also how many bottles do you think for a whole mwb van not just the bottom there? The roof, bonnet and sides?

    • @weld-deluxltd7635
      @weld-deluxltd7635  Před 3 lety

      Gravitex is a stone chip prevention product. Not sure if it going to be good long lasting finish as a top coat. On this channel there is a painting play list and there is a video of painting same van with gravitex, I think it would give you some ideas.

    • @weld-deluxltd7635
      @weld-deluxltd7635  Před 3 lety

      If I remember correctly, I used 12 bottles of Gravitex on my van. It will depend on the thickness that you are planning to lay down.
      I have a project of a camper conversion in the future and I elected to use raptor.
