Ten-year-old Dhruv appears disturbed as he returns home after school. He fears that his father may beat him up for not coming first in the class. He boards a bus to go home but unfortunately misses his stop. The bus conductor helps him and asks him to go to a nearby bus stop where he can board another bus which goes by his home. However, he loses his way and gets stranded on a dusty lane. Then, he sees a middle-aged man on the run from some local thugs. Dhruv decides to help the man but the thugs kidnap him. Meanwhile, Dhruv's parents file a complaint with the police about their missing son. Soon, the case is referred to ACP Pradyuman and Inspector Daya, who set out to find Dhruv.

CID: Chhote Heroes is a serial that revolves around young children who either witness a crime or are victims of crimes. These children play central characters and often help the CID team of ACP Pradyuman, senior inspector Abhijeet and senior inspector Daya in solving crimes. The trio is often tagged by Inspector Fredricks. The team employ detailed investigation, analysis, and intuition, to zero-in on the criminal.
