Great video Jason. Just got a ZV-E1 through from Sony to run with for a few weeks and really looking forward to it. Already done some Webcam tests with it plugged into USB-C keeping it powered so no dummy battery needed and in 1080p (perfect for webcam) the quality is insanely good PLUS with the battey door open, no overheating after 3 hours 👍🏻

its the AI chp and sensor, making it as fast and reliable as A7r5 for autofocus with the low light sensitivity of A7sIII, all that for 2/3rd the price make it a pretty lethal combination.

The A7C is still my work horse. This camera is exciting though. Would be an awesome B cam to the A7C for better low light performance. I would like to carry both honestly.

OK, I finally broke down and bought one lol I have the 20mm 1.8 but considering the 16-35 pz as a go to daytime vlog lens, any thoughts? Seems the lightest/widest option.

Ooh I think this is the camera I have been waiting for! But I don’t have time to find best settings and workflow for my life. I would love to see videos on settings & choosing a small lens kit. I currently have a6600 & mostly shoot with Sony 24mm f1.8 but need a walk around zoom that isn’t massive

Well, I know that Sony markets this camera to Vloggers, but as a travel vlogger, I do not think this camera suits me. First, although it has a quite small body compared to A7's body, the actual problem of full-frames portability is on their big and heavy lenses. Instead of keeping to reduce the body's size and taking away features like EV and the wheels which are really crucial sometime, it's better for Sony to develop more portable FF Lenses for vloggers, ex: using lighter material, better specced pancake, etc. Second, Sony doesn't realize that vloggers also take photos and with 12 MP in 2023, it is really a No Go for photography. Looking at those two big issues, I'll stick to A7C for now. By the way, it's a nice and clear review! Well done!

Hey Jason, I know it's been a while since the release of this camera. And your channel is the only one I look up to regarding the sony camera setting. I've done everything you said in this video and the camera works great except for one question that's been bothering me: do you suggest shooting the footage in straight-out color or using log shooting mode with the flexible ISO. Or do you suggest using log shooting in particular circumstances? would you mind sharing some of your experience with log-shooting knowledge. PEACE!!!

Oh Jason how i love your intro (made me sub!)...and the camera. Probably best investment i have ever made for my CZcams channel.
I just got my first Sony a couple months ago, I found and ended up getting the a6300 with 4 batteries and a 3 slot battery charger for $374 and the Sigma 30mm 1.4 for $189 at National Pawn. Both are in mint condition and I couldn't be happier with my purchases. I also got the DJI Ronin SC brand new for less than $200 in January!

This is it! I tried the FX6 - and really missed stabilization (and there’s no option to use it on a compact gimbal due to its massive size), I tried the fx3 and the small extra audio inputs were too noisy plus the fan was just too loud, and there is no real option to quickly access which audio channels you can monitor on your headphones, so no use for fan and four audio channels for me. So when I need to record audio externally anyway (with tc LTC sync) this seems almost perfect. Does the dynamic stabilization work well with a gimbal? I had some complaints about “micro jitters” when I used an a7 III on a DJI rs2 - Sensor stabilization was turned on.. Indeed the gimbal can compensate for any rolling or tilting of a camera but not small vertical or horizontal movements of the whole gimbal - especially in closeups. I would hope dynamic stabilization could compensate those micro movements but using stabilization on a gimbal could make it even worse.. any experience? I really hope sony could finally implement gyro stabilization better in their editing software - on premiere it constantly crashes, even on a new m2 MacBook. Still have to find out if overheating is an issue in 4k 50p for me, as a last resort a mini usb fan on the back of the a7 III has helped, when it gets REALLY hot, it just looks a bit ridiculous.
The fan is too loud on the fx3? Wow what and where are you shooting where you can hear the fan in a final edit? Oven commercials in a perfectly treated sound isolation booth?
Especially if you're resorting to a mini usb fan on the a7iii which is surely not a professional option.
If over heating is an issue do not buy this camera. If you're doing long form content just don't bother. The whole point of this camera is shaving off over £1000 simply because overheating doesn't matter to an average vlogger or short form content creator. I don't know if you work with clients but it's just not worth the hassle. Get a second hand a7siii for a bit more and you'll have what you need. No fan (although still can't accept that's a genuine issue), no overheating, and very high quality outcome. I own the a7siii but wish I had an FX3 in many situations because it's significantly more comfortable for filming. But haven't once had an issue.
At the end of the day it sounds like your needs are sometimes fast and convenient and sometimes high end professional needs. I think you might just need multiple different cameras. You can't have an FX6 that is a vlogging camera without losing the professional requirements and vice versa. They're not the same thing.
Thanks @Jason Vong for your usual in-depth review :) If I combined this with a 200-600 would the AF help me track birds in flight? Either for photography or video? I realise the lack of EVF is a problem, but if the AF is as strong as the A7Rv... It's a good bit cheaper!

Finally, though a dash late, I just bought a Samsung s23 ultra with 4 lenses on it. Is a beaut as well for vlogging purposes on a minimal rig. But this was what I had waited for for so long and never happened.... until 2 months after. Oh well. Still good news for the camera industry.

Im thinking this camera and the 15mm 1.4 APSC lens will be the ultimate vlogging / travel combo? Especially using the Active IBIS and Clear Image Zoom to get rid of the vignetting.
It might be slightly annoying to have to keep Clear Image Zooming every time you boot up the camera though

Jason, did I misunderstand about the view finder you showed at 4:24 in your video? Does Sony make such a device that works with the ZVe1? Or even the Sony ZVe10?
They sell the detachable viewfinder I show but for older cameras like the RX1. It’s not compatible with the modern cameras.
Hey mate, amazing videos, im new to all of this however after changed settings on zve1 my vertical videos are all being saved horizontally and i am cropped in video with black sides. Really stuck and need some help to fix this back to original. I have tried a reset and settings didnt change. Thank you
