I'm heading to coach at Macca's for 5 Weeks, and here's the crazy amount of stuff I'm taking with me.
Yep, it's too much! Haha! But I need some quality food, I want some books, some basic supplements, and of course, my surfboards.
You can grab some ideas for things you may want to pack on your extended surf trips. A few smart and efficient items can make or break a trip!
Brilliant packing list! Video deserves more views! Already have pretty much everything you mentioned, except for 5 weeks of free time to travel! 🤣🥲 Will be taking a similar travel kit for two week trip to Costa Rica. Thanks for sharing 😎🤙🏄♂️
Legend, cheers for the insights, wish I was coming, yeeeooww 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Love it. Soaking it up🤙
Dude your awesome, info is on point. I learn so much from you. I need to come join you all. Planning 🧐
thanks very much michael, I appreciate hearing that. we are working on 2021 trips now! Indonesia, mentawais, north sumatra, sumba, central america...maybe a morocco! you can sign up for our trip notification list here: surfstrengthcoach.com/surf-trips/
Small bottle of betadyne is a foot cut life saver. For others, if you cut a foot deep, keep it dry for a day or two or it will take forever to heal.
16:38 - Know your stuff! Great Video😀
Used the ding putty a bunch of times, it’s very convenient if you need a quick short term fix. I found it to be brittle and no good for tail repairs, because the board‘s flex will start cracking the putty after a couple of sessions. Other spots held well (and are still holding).
good to know. still haven't had a chance to try it, but I figured it could be used on a quick little surf trip, if on a small charter for the day. thanks for the input
Can just emphasise your advice with the reef cuts. I had nasty infections and fever from cuts here in Philippines which has thaught me to always keep them clean and put mupirocin. Great packing list!
yeah, I've seen some NASTY infections over there. I got a pretty bad staph infection from a bug bite in sumatra a few years back (different story). but yes, reef cuts....keep them CLEAN!
Dang hope you ended up alright, this was right when Covid was ramping up! watching this now to prep for a Centro Am trip in a few weeks, cheeeeee
That 5 weeks was epic! Scored greenbush finally as well.
Fast forward to march, we were on a boat coaching trip and unfortunately had to cut the trip short as Singapore was starting to lockdown and we had guests from Australia, Europe, and US. We had a great last session at Macaronis and then motored to Padang to get our guests. Currently locked in Australia, but may leave end of this year so I can start travelling again! I'd love some El Salvador right hand points.
Hope you SCORE on your trip.
Bring a needle for Urchins. (And some movies on a tablet)
Nice list. How about clothes? Im doing 5 weeks in costa Rica starting this weekend. Trying to not overpack too much. Any reccs on clothes brotha?
How about super glue for deep cuts? That stuff is a trip saver for sure
IF you‘re absolutely certain that there‘s not even the tiniest grain of coral in there, maybe. Personally, I‘d be paranoid to glue shut a cut that might not be perfectly clean. My 2c.
yep, used it before, and generally have it in the board bag. clean the hell out of the cut, and then consider it. on our camps and boats we generally have a Dr. onboard that can do stitching if needed.
Big risk. Sealing in even a single bad bacteria is not good. Only do that if you are 100 % sure the wound is clean AND sterile. Bring a small bottle of betadyne.
Brah about to do an indo trip for the first time and so scared of talk of cuts and infections! Is it like one little reef cut and it’s instant staph?? 😢
Mate, informative video. Thank you! One question, that's a lot of stuff, a lot of weight, how much did it cost flying domestically in Indo (20 kg allowance) ?
honestly, I don't recall in the slightest. Garuda was (prior to covid) great to fly with luggage and boards. I haven't been back to Indo since it's reopened. I'll be heading back to the Ments this October, so fingers are crossed it hasn't gotten to $$
@@SurfStrengthCoach thanks bro. I am heading to the Ments next week, via Jakarta. I will find out then... Enjoy your summer!!
Tropical wax!!
They will confiscate meat products going into any country and I've had nuts taken too. It sucks watching that expensive bag of jerky disappear. Reef boots, yep I've ruined a trip before shredding my feet. 50/50 vinegar and alcohol works very well for swimmers ear (I work in an urgent care), do 15 minute soaks. You can use a regular baseball cap, tie heavy fishing line to it and safety pin it to your rash guard, much less dorky than the chin strap. I have a hooded rash guard too, but it can scoop water in a duck dive. Turmeric and fish oil are good natural anti inflammatory supplements. Not bad to have ibuprofen if you do get a fever. That pin tail would be my go to board. I would want a 6'8" to 7'2" in there too, foam is my friend in double overhead +, even if its not giant sometimes that extra paddling power is nice after repeated two session days.
Are you doing back to back boat trips or going land based? If land based then you need to be a lot more serious about mosquito protection.
wheres the beng bengs,..????!!!
worst candy bar ever...... all about that snickers! or a knockers if you're in indo
Me: dramamine 🤣🤣
