Byun's wrists not blowing up has been the best thing to happen to SC in years.
While I know he has wrist issues, I think its at least in part psychosomatic. He seems really confident lately and that positively affects his wrist.
Part of his wrist issues is really in his mental game. It shows up the most when he's playing out of his mind in offline events. But when he's at home and relaxed, he's an absolute beast.
That's a possible theory why ByuN keeps winning a lot of the online tournaments.

@@CeRockTV in a GSL interview he claimed he had a specialist tell him it is psychosomatic. Ever since he said that it's been a steady improvement.
I fully recognise that he's not in that "best" tier but byun is one of the terrains i enjoy watching the most.

In the last match, those reapers actually are the reason the marines won so hard. 3 tranfuses were used on the hatch. 1 at the start and 2 more when the marines first stimmed, because dark thought byun was gonna target down the hatch. Arguably a huge misread and the reason he lost the fight so hard.
Also in the game after that the 3 Reapers killed 4 tumors so that's 2 less transfuses, with that on top of not seeing the moveout & the supply block, it was the perfect storm. ByuN is so good with his Reapers!
yea lets talk about how good byun is when he looked so dumb in the first series against dark and ignore the fact that the game is perfectly balanced now

@@Figgy20000 Valk bug fix has been huge for TvZ, and there's only one Snow to be really scary PvT. I'm hoping to see other Protoss learn from Snow and make it much deeper as a result. I think Rain's midgame dragoon attacks are what to emulate PvZ. I don't really know what to suggest ZvT, maybe you skip muta and try lurker into ultra? Like crazy Zerg but lurkers instead of mutas so you don't get rekt by valk pushes. Although then you need a few hydra or spores or something to save overlords... Tough. So far main strat seems to be going Spire anyway and hoping to just out micro the valks with muta/scourge. I'm skeptical.
GSL we don't seem to have super dominant Protoss right now and TvZ looks fairly T sided with the ability for Terran to just win early (hard to punish early CC) mid (standard pushes) or late (turtle exhaust play). In contrast all I really see winning ZvT is either special tactics (like Nydus) or mass baneling with a sufficient eco advantage to roll through everything. We did have a nice game or two from Dark with ranged ground units supported by spells & abilities (fungal, blinding cloud, abduct, biles) that looked good, but I don't think we've seen too much of that more balanced style. Personally I think the way to go is mass ling/bane with spell support (possibly also some corrupters to fight medivac and puke on buildings). I've seen quite a few ZvT where they go mass bane and add on something silly, like 5 lurkers or 5 ultras which is ridiculous. Ling bane gives you a massive burst of production and then damage, it pairs perfectly with the burst effect of spells like blinding cloud and fungal and terribly with the sustained damage and area control of lurkers or ultras. I also think Z needs to go mass mass queen early on, queens are just too good at holding everything. I don't know what to do PvZ or PvT in SC2, I guess hero is the one to emulate PvZ, brawling with gateway units to stop the Zergs 4th (or was it 5th?). PvT I really don't know, maybe Storm needs to be your first big source of splash since disruptor & colossus seem to get disabled (and/or picked off). Or maybe you can fight the ravens with Blink Stalkers. I think we've been seeing charge before blink which seems wrong vs T. Who knows
That last game was totally darks fault, he lost to the exact same build twice in a row
Thank you afreeca tv for all the work over the years. Gathering all the players and producing this awesome competition over and over again for all these years is really a great accomplishment. So many people enjoy it so much, me included. We hope there is much more in the future

Cooling tower move - this would obviously pose balance issues, but how cool would it be if the flying Terran buildings could squash units?
Better: Let Terrans build engineers, that can enter any building to capture/control it. Squash sounds good, especially command center squash into proxy planetary fortress in Protoss main.

Terran was always broken, it was just that the players couldn't take full advantage of this cheat race because they didn't know how to play it correctly.
Plus all the nerfs to Zerg because of Serral.

Protoss was heavily nerfed in last two balance updates. The race relied heavily on shield battery but this was nerfed so much that it can't hold off two base terran anymore...
GSL can never die, but it cannot survive on unreliable crowdfunding. We need some reliable sponsors to get on board. Where's pepsi/coke or monster when you need them?
Monster is already doing their part. They just funded TLMC18 so we can get new ladder maps and apparently there are strong rumors of another TLMC by year end, which implies that if they are the sponser for that one too then we could be about to see a change from annual ladder pool changes to less than a year between, which is crazy. Taken with a ginormous grain of salt of course

I'm only done with game 1 of Dark and Byun, but holy shit does Dark's play look dominant. He just walked up with those infestors and, like a bug's vengeance, swatted Byun down. Swept the game with basically 1o-15 seconds of assured and accurate control. I'm usually for Protoss, but I kinda like the idea of Dark winning a bunch this last year. Might as well considering the GSL Protoss prospects for the final year, uggh.
They should probably buff Terran at this point.

This GSL clearly shows that stim needs several second more to research and last 3 seconds less. And ghosts should cost 1 more supply.
SPOLIER SPOILER : The reapers could of killed the hatchery, but for some reason the terran wanted to leave it alive. (PTSD from the last time he killed a hatchery before 6 minutes against the same zerg?)
The turrets 100% worked out better because of the way the queens where positioned, but based off the entry point of the raven, and the fact that it stood idle before casting the 2 turrets, leaves me to believe that was not the intended strategy.
yeah felt like raven was there for anti armor missile, but queens were kinda spread over an arch so he went with turrets instead. Meanwhile Zerg can only make lings when other races have all those options.

Why do this GSL is held online?
Downsizing due to the lack of funding, so they have to save all production costs as much as possible to still be able to bring the tournament out.
Because they can't manage a profitable offline event. And from what I see they don't know how to successfully manage an online one either. so enjoy the possible last one.
Loss of sponsors. Lots of advertisers cutting back 30% or more - Part of why many companies are cutting employees (CNN, Disney,, Twitter, Goog, Facebook, etc.) Expect more of this, as analytics tell companies which ads bring customers, and which are vanity. Also SC2 has run 2010-2023 - long run for a video game, I was glad to see some new ads in GSL in 2023. Might help Hot6 to update their ad, and to export to these States. Lot of thirsty around.
If it were 4 zergs in the finals, they would be talking about all the ways zerg is OP. TERRAN IS OP. Also, some of the maps are too terran favored. Having said that, zerg MUST be better at flanking.
I love State and Tastless, mad respect for all their game knowledge. They dont watch enough Dark matches to be aware that he is platinum level skill with Queen injecting mechanics. Dark keeps all his queens on a single hotkey and hardly injects when defending with them. When he lost all his queens, the casters thought how could he keep producing units without all the injects.... ha-ha... they failed to realize Dark hardly ever injects! His queens are 90% fighting units. This is one of the reasons he is prone to make macro hatches in his naturals, because he needs the extra larva from lack of injecting.
Terran imba confirmed. Honestly hate the state of TvZ right now. It is so demoralizing to lose a ton of games on ladder to "terran got 20 ghosts, literally can't win now" situation all the time, then go watch gsl, can't wait to see how these top players handle ghosts... Oh o they just autolose when there's a critical ghost mass as well. It just sucks so bad when you literally can't kill them because you have to drop thousands of minerals and gas into a swarm of overseers that just get deleted with a snipe volley and then the immortal cloaked ghosts just clean up everything. I would neef snipe damage to not 1shot overseers, or make it so detectors are unsnipeable or make it not able to target air or something to actually let zerg actually get to kill ghosts when they break through on top of them.
Really sick of the tvz meta though of zerg having to just take such ridiculously inefficient trades all day and have to be multiple bases ahead to be able to overwhelm terran, but then you also have to overwhelm them before they get 20 ghosts because that is an auto lose...
I would neef queens and give slight buffs to zerg units, maybe a +5hp to lings and banes upgrade or something. Make zerg forced to make more defense than just queens early so they grow slower, but have a better army when they do max out, rather than this meta where zergs max out comically easily but then get wrecked anyways because their units suck.
maybe buff adept attack back to keep zvp fair as well, because right now IMO terran > zerg > toss.
If anyone has a video of a top level tvz where the terran gets a high ghost count and doesn't just auto win let me know (barring some huge blunder where they throw their ghosts away). seems pretty imba to me...

Terran late game vs Zerg is IMBA, because ghosts. As a Zerg, I remember when Zergs had six IMBA talents:: super creep, super Nydus, super swarm host, infested Terran, chain spell casters, super Queens. I just ask for one rule change (it was in Starcraft TOS, so it has to be fair): Make hydralisks great again by costing one supply. :)

They are the only players on the world who can make this type of play look so strong because they are mechanically the BEST IN THE WORLD. I swear to god you people know NOTHING. No one in Diamond or Masters is sniping and perfectly splitting army and dividing their defenses and perfectly mirrroring armies. That’s exclusively a Korean Terran thing.
Terran is so OP.. What makes zerg lurker worse is their projectiles are too slow..

Too broke to mass transition, a few broods suck, need massive amount of them.
