She's tells Clark she doesn't love him, but then says she loves Superman (and rubs the salt into the wound by saying she would love Superman even if he were ordinary), and then goes off to marry Luther (then promptly leaves Luther). How heartbreaking for Clark!
Honestly, if Lois had spoken first, where would that have put them? By appearances, Clark is Lois' 3rd choice. At that moment, how could Clark actually trust that Lois is genuine about her feelings towards him? In an IRL situation, Clark's choice to take back his confession would be very appropriate. I know he has other reasons to take it back, though, so I can't give him too much credit.
Clark knew she didn't love Lex, she was marrying him cause he was interesting and he asked. Just when Clark told her he loved she actually realized how she felt about him. Lying to her now was just the tv show forcing them apart. Lois was the one always closed to relationships, she was tired of the same empty men she knew, that's why she felt for Superman cause he was genuinely good and helped people and in her defense rewatching the show is pretty unfair cause Superman gave her a lot of hints and moves, it confuses anyone. But it's a show and they shouldn't be together yet 😂
Awe, that was so heartbreaking for him to say that. I have a feeling he really is in love with her but right now, he's refusing to feel what he feels and just keeping her as friends. I also think she was going to say she loved him too before he cut her off.
Actually he had his fingers crossed while saying that, it killed him to say that but he figured that it was better at the time as he was moonlighting as a superhero

Parents are at a totally different level of love than friends and lovers. It's more a sense of protection (for a man) and family love.
This was an attempt of the series to extend the romantic tension longer through season 2. Which was a better idea than going the dating/ marriage route which would have been boring and the death of the series.
Now I know why there is the saying ladies first. Sometimes it's better to let the lady say first.

No matter how much the fans want them to get together, the writers know that it's better for the show if they keep them apart. The romantic tension is gone once they get them together, the show was never the same after they got married in season 4 and it cost them their 5th season
I really enjoy season 4 . I fell like the actors has very good chemistry between them so they were able to maintain the romance well even though it is already another stage of the relationship of Lois and Clark
Naaa you got it wrong instead it was more interesting when they finally got married, the real resason the show stop was because of the low audience in season 4 due the fact that ABC changed the time they were showing it. They just killed this amazing show😭😭😭

@shilpa82494 It's not all bad. Many times the right person DOES go first! Like the episode where Lois finds out Clark is leaving for good, she takes action right there and shows her feelings for him. Needless to say, HE didn't leave!

When Louis gets to know that Clark is Superman tell me the episode name
Casual Tips Episode 18 of season 2 called “Tempus Fugitive” when they go back to 1966 on a time machine, Lois finds out Clark is Superman. However, when they go back to the present day, she doesn’t remember!. Season 2 episode 22 “And the answer is...” is the episode were Clark proposes right at the end. Turned Lois already knew he was Superman by this point, but it’s episode season 3 episode 1 “we have a lot to talk about” were Lois actually knows/she tells Clark she knows as she answers his question if she’ll marry him with “who’s asking Clark or Superman”. Season two ended on a cliffhanger and we had to wait months for the start of season 3....nearly killed me that back in 1995/96!. Laura :)
