  • Don't worry - It's okay if you have your period the day of your surgery or while you are in the hospital! This will not cause your surgery to be rescheduled. Most likely you won't be allowed to wear a tampon while in surgery. Instead, you will be given a pad to wear.About 9 of 10 women have lighter periods or no period after endometrial ablation. These improvements may not last forever, though. Your periods may get heavier and longer after several years. If this happens, you may need to have your uterus taken out.Endometrial ablation is a permanent procedure. Your uterine lining won't grow back afterward. This procedure is helpful for many women, but isn't recommended for everyone.Any bleeding from persistent or regenerating endometrium behind the scar may be obstructed and cause problems such as central hematometra, cornual hematometra, postablation tubal sterilization syndrome, retrograde menstruation, and potential delay in the diagnosis of endometrial cancer.
