    Love it; it's not a shortcut, it's an enhancement.
    I've been enjoying flight sims for goodness knows how long but this kind of teaching is quite apparently what I've been missing to get holistic.
    Also, the FAA Aircraft Flying Handbook and other free FAA docs were so well done and so, so, worthwhile.

      Thankfully, in commercial aviation at least, CFIT is getting incredibly rare. I can only recall Asiana 243 as one major CFIT crash in the past decade or so. And amazingly, only 3 people died there.

      @@tiadaid What I was surprised about was when he talked about the _delay_ to act in many of the accidents when their plane had a GPWS warning system that had been activated. He mentions that pilots have to have a serious talk to themselves to accept that when they lose SA, or even, really, _think_ they might, they have to act without hesitation. I could never be a pilot because I have no confidence in myself whatsoever, so I would only do escape maneuvers.

    The trouble in many cases comes down to money. The airlines frown on go-arounds, diversions or anything that burns extra fuel or cost money. Pilots are routinely censured or punished for what the co. thinks are unnecessary go-arounds. That is how the term get-there-itus was coined. The 3 firefighter pilots that died in the c130 recently were most likely pressured to fly in poor wind conditions due to get-it-done-itus.

      Well...maybe. But look at general aviation accidents. Pilots can and do pressure _themselves_ into poor judgment. The case studies by the AOPA’s Air Safety Institute are all tragic examples of pilots doing that. We know commercial flight is much, much safer and that has to be in part because of protocols and standards airlines are obligated to fulfill. I’m not saying airlines never do that, but is that practice really routine and pervasive?

      Hi Tony, thanks for asking! The videos are restored both for video but most importantly the audio is now centered and optimized for intelligibility. Analytics show that viewers don't watch till the end all the time, therefore the two halves. Fly safe!

      @@flightcrewguidecom Thanks for answering. I hope you keep the older, longer videos up too. I like watching them without having to go find part 2 to finish it. Makes it much easier/nicer to share or post a link to if it's all in one part also. Surely even less folks will watch the entirety of both halves if they're split than will watch it all if they're one video, since that point where the first half ends makes a natural point to stop watching. But I admit I know nothing about youtube analytics.
      Besides that, if you can find any other "new" material from Warren Vanderburgh, I would love to see it as I'm sure plenty of others would too!
