      @themustardthe Před 4 lety +4

      Republica Austriaca wouldn’t an octagon make it easier to input all of the cardinal directions and diagonals? Just wondering, cuz slipping wouldn’t be a problem for games where you only need 8 directions, and games where you do could still benefit from being able to input the 8 direction more reliably. As long as you don’t push to hard, or your gate isn’t lubed or something, then I don’t think slipping should be that big of a problem.

That stick cost me around 85$. I know, that better buy stick min for 200-250$, but USD in Ukraine (or in my case DPR) is very expensive.

      +Core-A Gaming I played with a pad since 6yo and decided to swap to keyboard 7 years back for arcade and fighting games when I discovered "m.a.m.e" on the pc and it felt way more natural then a pad. Got my first stick a year back and I loved it and was even easier but the stick broke (rather got fried) a couple months back and now i'm back to keyboard and I'm glad I can use both things no problems.
      Just wanted to say to people who thinks that fighting games are unplayable on keyboard that they really should try more then 5min before saying anything because if that's all what you have and you love fighting games.. at the end of the day is just inputs and it boils down to how accurate you can do them, that's it.

    I really like Arcade sticks because of my disability my left fingers have very poor motor skills and they're very shaky.
    When i bought Street fighter 5 on PC as my first fighting game since TEKKEN 3 i started playing it with my xbox 360 gamepad only to find out that due to the travel time of the trigger buttons LT and RT wich control heavy kick and V-reverse and the fact i couldn't do Critical Arts, most EX moves and no SPD's/DP's that it wasn't gonna work.
    Then a friend of mine saw on steam that i bought Street Fighter 5 and called me and said ''i guess you're having trouble with your left hand can i come over? i want to show you something.''
    And then he came over with his fight stick a madcatz TE2 and because it allowed me to use my whole hand to move the stick around ny twitchy fingers are no longer a problem.
    AS i type this i ordered my own madcatz TE2 and it has just arrived at the post office and they open in 2 hours so i can pick it up then :)

The stick... well, I hadn't played a lot of matches there, I have been using it only in arcades, but I can guess say it's like the pad, but move move-y, where the pad you kinda stay in one place.

    I’m a d-pad warrior, quick little story, in Daly City California there was a game store called videots or something like that and it was like a mom and pop rental store except all video games. Street fighter 2 turbo had been recently out and had gained some experience on techs such as zoning and picking up patterns and countering, anyway there was a no older dude like in his mid twenties and I was like 14 maybe. Anyway i would jump up and Hurricane kick over him and i noticed my recover time from a light Hurricane kick mid air was fast so after landing on the other side of him i would dragon punch immediately and would usually hit him. He was getting mad and said hold on I’ll be right back I’m going to get my sticks. Came back with an arcade stick and kept playing and i was still beating him. I’m over 40 now with a ps2 controller to usb playing mc2 on ps3. Still fun when i encounter my adversaries, I enjoy getting a win and upsetting their win streak. Right now I’m using the hori fighting commander it’s pretty cool

Instead of a d-pad, it used a miniature thumb stick with microswitches. This makes it both fluid and definite. I like to think the GameCube remote is one of most creative considering that it was never designed to be played at a super competitive level

      +GamingMadness242 Kinda like how Smash was never designed to be played competitively

      Chris Tweten it's sad that a game never designed to be played technically is way more technical than most fighting games now a days

      And you think SF2 was designed to be competitive? If so, think again.

    • @claire6452
      @claire6452 Před 6 lety +2

      Most of smash 4 patch were actually pretty competitive, fixing stronger characters and helping the lower tiers save for a few that did not get the chance. Not to mention bringing back DI and changing shields to make them a bit less safe overall which are changes that almost had no effect on the casual players.

    • @claire6452
      @claire6452 Před 6 lety +1

      A good proof that you don't know anything you're talking about if you can't even remember a major change like the one done to shield. They also made perfect shield harder, in addition to making normal shields less safe. Probably for the casuals too.
      They never changed Greninja counter either, even more bullshit. Corrin counter had no reason to be that much better than any other counter, casual play or not that was a dumb choice and they nerfed it .
      Very few characters made viable by buffs? Marth & lucina, Mewtwo, Luigi, Geninja (yes, he has way more buffs than nerfs, you're welcome), Dk, Bowser, Meta-knight, and probably more.
      Characters like Shulk, Charizard, Falco,Link,Ike, etc were unplayable at release and had so many buffs they are now pretty decent ..
      Who got the most nerfs? Ho right, top tiers in competitive. ZSS win rate on casual is very low. Guess what? Yeah, nerfed.
      Bayo, Cloud, Sheik, a few (too) small one for Rosa, Diddy, Luigi (to be buffed again, probably because the casual cried for combo they couldn't pull out anyway,I guess) ..
      TLDR : You are full of shit and putting Corrin counter as an example (while she had many nerfs actually, since they found her too strong after release, nothing weird to tone her town a bit) or changes that did not happen like greninja counter does not help your case. Good day.

    For me personally aka someone who only recently showed interest in fighters I have the issue of be er having used pad extensively and not having used stick either.
    This makes pad the fastest option since I have one but I don't know if I'd like stick tbh

    I normally use controller, but found a recently cheap stick at a pawn shop. Fell in love almost immediately. Just ordered a brand new stick last night. I don't think I'm ever going to look back for fighting games.

      Hey, I'm new to all of this. But I've played fighting games on keyboards for the longest. Are keyboards allowed? Also, am I allowed to set up my own button configuration or is it assigned to me? Thank you

      The Holy Schois it obviously depends on where you're at, but in an actual competitive tournament anything that can be used to play fighting games can be used.

    Personally I think when it comes to fighting games a keyboard offers the most control
    But since I grew up playing primarily xbox, I mainly just use a xbox controller

    I use a madcatz TE2+. Growing up I always loved the arcade cabinets more than home controllers, but I never had the money for one. When SFV dropped it was finally my time to get a stick.

    I've been playing fighting games with a controller since I was little so that's my preferred choice.
    Tekken 3 is my favorite fighting game of all time and a game I've played my whole life with a PS controller. When I visited a small video game shop in NYC, they had a Tekken 3 cabinet. I played it and got my ass handed to me. I couldn't get comfortable using the arcade layout. I remember switching the way I held the stick multiple times trying to find the most comfortable way to play and none worked for me.

    • @zedsdeadbaby
      @zedsdeadbaby Před 4 lety

      tekken works better with controller because it's just left/right punch and kick which fits in with four face buttons, SF needs arcade sticks with six face buttons because it's got weak/medium/strong punch and kicks. it's why I think tekken is more popular overall

    Tfw I'll have to make my own fight stick because finding one with the buttons on the left is a pain and a half.
    ...And I also want to throw some directional keys into it.
