It's terrifying that a voting majority can be so mislead, politics needs to become a mandatory subject in schools rather than everyone having the same political opinion as their grandparents.
People are too misinformed to have mandatory voting. Also it would be too Totalitarian to make voting mandatory.

I reckon it'd be a good idea to have it inset into standard curriculum along with Religious Studies. Only an hour or so a week for 14 - 16 year olds would teach them enough to have a basic understanding of how our country is run; thus developing their own views on it and not just copying family or peers.
Bleary Epoch Aye I get what you're on about but if it was to become a part of the national curriculum, we'd have teachers trained specifically to teach that subject and with a set curriculum to teach; hopefully dissipating any personal bias that teacher may have.
To be quite honest as well, what you said about opening your mind up; that's what we should see of these teenagers and young adults. If they've had some sort of teaching (even with a possible bias,) then they'd hopefully have the interest to then look into it in greater detail and shape their own opinion.
